My Fs 131 is almost two years old. It STILL starts up from a cold start on the first pull without priming it. Try changing the reel and using ,130 gauge string. You will mow down the thickes, tallest weeds all day long without having to stop and install new string. Best string trimmer made. hands down.
Just finished up an internship I had with the WDNR and one of my mains tasks was weed whacking. They had me use the Stihl fs 131 and I was MOWING through yards upon yards of tall marsh grasses and shrubbery like it was nothing! I called it "The Shmack'em Whack'em". I will definitely miss my dear friend.
I have the FS 131 with the bicycle handlebars and this is a powerful piece of equipment. I would highly recommend wearing ear, face, head and eyewear protection at all times using this trimmer. Also long pants, over-your-ankle boots and at least a long sleeve shirt for a little protection from what this machine throws at you. Leather gloves should be worn as well for some additional protection.
Congrats on your new toy/tool. Stihl is the best and I like the stainless carbs; But some of my Stihl tools had fuel suction line problems which were easy to fix. Carbs for those are inexpensive also. Lucky you're single running that engine in the house..
I really like how you think I am taking your advice and buying everything new the best tools my money can buy.thank you for your video you think like I do.
Ha, I bought a 131 from the local ACE hardware, they PRE Serviced it....... I got to spend 30 minutes redoing their bassackwards install... I was shorted the plug/screw driver wrench. The 131 is a beast. Well suited for the Homeprofessional...
I tossed my harness and just use the single strap from my older trimmer. Works great without the hassle of getting into the contraption. Perfectly safe!
That's a great trimmer, I have it. My handle was mounted correctly. I gues they come disassembled from factory, and local dealers put them together. Beware of flying pebbles, I whacked my windshield last year and someone did it again to my car 2 weeks ago.
I'm looking at getting this size. I really like the harness. I have the electric series for light duty, My larger one is almost dead [10-years] so I cannot complain. BTW the dealer would probaly or should have fitted you before you left or atleast that what ours do here in Bama.
Just letting you know your new rig was setup for a left handed person which is really strange normally we have to change it ourselves if we want left handed
Echo SRM 410x trimmer has 42.7cc , I bought the fs 131 without the u handle just having a hard time thinking about adjusting that U handle when I want to edge with the trimmer instead of my edger 😁😁
Worthwhile to replace the 25-2 mower head that comes with the 131 with the much better Stihl C 26-2 head. Easier to load, no issues with heavy line, no jamming of the C 26-2 head.
I got a 11 year old makita 36cc four stroke bushcutter that is starting to drop rpm after running at full throttle when mowing grass after ten minutes that I will be replacing it with a new Stihl FS260C-E

I actually didn’t even know. Would have thought they would have advertised it better then purists like myself might not have purchased it if I was aware of it being a 4 stroke. I would have rather had the two stroke! Probably getting phased out through emissions
@@NaptownTuner the good thing about the 4-Cycle engines is that they have have more torque than 2-Cycle engines. I've had my 131R for 2 years without a single problem. I run Stihl .105 round line with no guard and the damn thing will eat some grass. Guards tend to keep the line too short and get caught on everything. Keep in mind it takes practice to run a bump head with no guard but once you get used to it you'll never go back.
@@NaptownTuner I'm looking to get this model because it is 4 stroke, just be sure to use the same gas mix as in 2 stroke engines. This thing needs periodical maintenance - valve adjustment every 100 hours or so. It is time to adjust when it becomes harder to pull on the rope, feels like compression has increased. And special grease must be added to the gear box. Here is a nice video explaining all maintenance items so your FS 131 would run as new for the next 20 or 30 years. ruclips.net/video/g7C0n8wHHfQ/видео.html
As gatis said you absolutely must keep up with the valves. And remember don't set the lash unless your sure you have found top dead center. I've found mine needs done more frequently than the recommended 100hrs.
If you think itbis impressive now with just regular line...wait until you get a polycut head and a brush knife head then you can physically go through anything
@@robinageby9695 my biggest complaint Been running them for 4 years. (Blew one up last week) is how there's very little in-between with throttle. If you don't run WOT all the time.
