Daisy is now unequivocally my favourite new musical artist, expanding on my favourite genre, folk, and adding drone and psychedelic elements is pure genius ❤️
Daisy, you are a revelation! Your interpretation of one of my favourite Anne/Bert songs totally does it justice. I'm now a convert to your other music as well ❤
Love this song! Young voice is really smooth and soothing, especially through the transition of notes. Love hearing the birds chirping in the background!
always think of the Bert Jansch version of Blackwaterside but have also enjoyed Anne Briggs version and of course the version done by "the Lady", Sandy Denny. Jansch learned this song from Briggs but put it on a record five years earlier (around 1966) and Briggs got this piece from B. Lloyld.
Beautiful. Interesting choice of mixed octaves! - and that improv at the end. As a Jansch fan, btw, I have no problem with the minimal references to his arrangement. It's like you've taken it straight from Anne Briggs, just nodded to Bert on the way, and then made it your own - the grand old folk tradition! I'd love to hear this live in a club - you seem a little underpowered in that private setting. The voice is easily the equal of Anne Briggs.
Daisy, wow you did this justice in your own way,big fan of anne briggs and vashti bunyan, and your voice fits folk music just as well as there's, blessed be,,
Floating on that lilting heavenly vocal. Anne Briggs would buy you a few pints and tip her hat for this lovely rendition. Those strings have been around long enough to tell a few tales, but all good. Suits the mood.
I really like your voice which is really full of soul. So good to see an Echo Ranger 6 guitar being played so well and you've made the song your own, it needs no more. My first guitar and one that has opened the door to a life of playing.
So wonderful! I keep coming back. I grew up listening to Bert Jansch and Sandy Denny in the '90s... Hearng your take sounds timeless, unique and like it's being beamed from another world ❤️ ❤️ I've since discovered your albums and your original material is just as 👏amazing
Daisy you capture a very European influence within your playing and it's a beautiful thing ! I can't help but sense that somehow being from Europe adds to the spirit of the song in a state of preservation . Awesome work !
Great performance. Lovely old Eko guitar! Well done for contributing to bringing Bert's music (and that of his close associates) forward to the centre court of contemporary music. xxx
Daisy, It is within your fie cover offering here that you in your own personal style and arrangement seem to offer shades of both Bert and Anne. that is really deep and heavily awesome! Sounds `Awesome'!!!
I thought you entered the realm of Anne's version more deeply which is even more rare a cover than Bert's version and that impresses and effects me more deeply ! Thank you for your efforts here!
Fabulous, you have a unique voiceand style, loved the song choice, and the birds in the background added something too, listening tp folk music really helps me to chill and takes me to another place, looking forward to more videos,
I think you are referring to Sandy Denny. Why skip over Anne Briggs and not ankowledge her, and that Daisy here is singing in awe to her? I love Sandy. But, In my opinion, Anne Briggs is da shit on this song.
Bravo! Just Awesome! Magnificently played! Way better than the original by Bert Jansch, in my humble opinion, and certainly better than any of 10-15 or so covers I've come across! Nothing comes close!
I am a Jimmy Page fan and know something of the Bert Jansch background. Your rendtiton is wonderful. And that deep female voice, so unusal, and so full of emotion. And that Page stutter-strut. Altogether perfect. Keept it up, Daisy.
Yes, you are right! I meant that I came to know the song through Page, but should have explained the circumstances more carefully. Anyway, Daisy’s version is the best!
You've been shared into a Bert Jansch group on Facebook and I can see why. Though it's not musically accurate it is beautifully played and sang. Well done. Ahh I found out you are playing Anne's accompanying style.
Love her voice and the gentle way she sings this lovely ballot.
Daisy is now unequivocally my favourite new musical artist, expanding on my favourite genre, folk, and adding drone and psychedelic elements is pure genius ❤️
One of my favorite songs. Beautiful rendition!
I've commented a long time ago on how brilliant her performance is. But I have to say it again, she is incredible.
Daisy, you are a revelation! Your interpretation of one of my favourite Anne/Bert songs totally does it justice. I'm now a convert to your other music as well ❤
Well, that was indeed special. A Siren song.... with a serendipitous serenade of local birds to close the show. Wow.
Gorgeous. You're a star.
who ever you are ,that was amazing , ive been playing that song for years and thats what it needed, what you did.NICE:::
This just kind of blew my mind. Feels like it was recorded in about 1970. You've got amazing soul, my friend. Thank you very kindly for doing this.
"ancient " soul too :)
Lovely. I often play Blues Run the Game.
Lovely dais ❤
A beautiful voice,,,,,,,even the happy birds agree!
@Daisy Rickman Listening now ,as a Christmas eve morning ,cold rain falls. Birds , with me ,silent .In awe of your treatment of this epic ballad .
Hear hear!!!
Absolutely rapturous vocals!
Love this song! Young voice is really smooth and soothing, especially through the transition of notes. Love hearing the birds chirping in the background!

Really, really fine job. Loved it, birds too!
Sounds like the birds loved it too 😍 I know I did!
Very interesting deconstruction on guitar and lovely voice.

Beautiful and entirely personal take on it, just lovely.
I like that and the chirping birds in the background
It feels like you are floating over The Chords, beautiful cover! Grettings from México!
Wonderous. That song is immortal.Thank you for breathing new life into it ,and with it ,my day.
Daisy, wow you did this justice in your own way,big fan of anne briggs and vashti bunyan, and your voice fits folk music just as well as there's, blessed be,,

Lovely performance of a lovely song. Very pretty.
Lovely
Damn. Really nice. Thank you.
Perfect combo of voice and guitar...

Thanks, that was fantastic! Guitar and vocals brilliant. Could listen on loop!
absolute wonder 💙
I never heard of this song before but it sounds amazing how you sign it
I love the Janschie intro and your vocals have a Sandy Denny quality. Brilliant! Thank you one of my favorites. Jimmy Page is a scoundrel thief.
It's petty theft
awesome, i wanna learn it too..

i dig this aura about yourself as well
Amazing. Love your guitar playing!
Woah I just came across this by chance, beautiful cover daisy, huge Jansch fan too 🏴☠️
Fabulous, you have a unique voiceand style, loved the song choice, and the birds in the background added something too, listening tp folk music really helps me to chill and takes me to another place, looking forward to more videos,
Lovely ❤️
No one can ever replace Sandy .But ,this quietly immense song has many suitors , and Daisy has won it's heart. Now, mine , as well.
Word!

Lovely version of a beautiful song! Bert would of loved it😍
I’m a big fan of Bert and Anne so I wasn’t sure about your version at first because of the tempo changes but I now love it., Well done Daisy.. 🙏👍

Aw thankyou Andrej! X
Beautiful Daisy
Crumbs this is beautiful.
Solid! fab job, you certainly have it.
OK - you just convinced me to subscribe. The bird helped.
I have no words. it's wonderful!
I am a Jimmy Page fan and know something of the Bert Jansch background. Your rendtiton is wonderful. And that deep female voice, so unusal, and so full of emotion. And that Page stutter-strut. Altogether perfect. Keept it up, Daisy.
you mean Page the thief? stole this song completely and never credited his author 🤡🤡💩💩
Yes, you are right! I meant that I came to know the song through Page, but should have explained the circumstances more carefully. Anyway, Daisy’s version is the best!
Beautiful cover.
Awesome 🎉
Class mix of the two versions?
You've covered a few of my favourites, so I shall subscribe ❤️
Daisy thanks so much for this; I'm a young US folkie on YT and was amazed! You got more friends and fans coming, brilliant!
Wow!! Good job
Great version
Beautifully played ❤️
Lovely strumming technique.
Wow, great version , kind of bluesy towards the end, very nice. Thanks
Love the robin that was presumably flying around out of sight yet remains curiously uncredited.
Another lovely one !
Fantastic!
Instant goosebumps… this is epic
Checking in again. You good? You made me understand this song. Thankful!
Very cool daisy!!
Beautiful rendition. ❤
This is so beautiful 💛 Thank you
ah daisy , im so amazed 🌼 please keep them coming
Oh Daisy BTW, it is really cool that you perform this on a Sandy Denny style flat top acoustic guitar !
Way `COOL'!!!
Thank's for keeping it real!
I detect the style of Sandy Denny here as well also .
Beautiful
So amazingly beautiful, I hope to be able to play like this someday
You've been shared into a Bert Jansch group on Facebook and I can see why. Though it's not musically accurate it is beautifully played and sang. Well done. Ahh I found out you are playing Anne's accompanying style.
I don't have any problems with Briggs playing. She doesn't have to be a Jansch clone. Nothing wrong with having her own arrangement and style.
@@anauticalgate5496 Fine veersion indeed.
Lovely!! ❤️
beautiful
Thank you beyond words!
My fave version ❤
This is a fantastic over of one of my favorite songs. I like the rhythmic feel and the guitar playing.
Do you ever play The Laird O the Dainty Doonby?
Inspiring
Very nicely done. Enjoyed it.
lovely stuff! x
Love it ❤
Wow..an early 6 strings Eko Ranger ,( if Vox ...could be the same)
Anne Briggs herself used an Eko Ranger 12-string at one point.
Well played, keep it up!
...
"For there's not a girl in this whole wide world as easily led as I.
Sure as fishes they'll fly and the seas run dry; tis then he'll marry I."
Day-um! This is perfection. You remind me of Beth Orton.
