I looked for the best possible view of the sky and figured the rear seat glass would be best. I’m thinking of doing some testing by driving on the highway and having the Starlink positioned in a few different spots, including the rear glass. Could be interesting to see what’s best.
Thanks for this video! Very nice explained. I didn't got the purpose of the portable battery. Can't we just connect the starlink to the 12V outlet in the trunk? Can you elaborate?
Thank you. I’m glad you liked it. I should have mentioned the purpose of the battery in the video. The 12 volt plug shuts off when you’re not in the car. So the battery keeps everything going even when the car is off. You can use camp mode or dog mode to do the same thing, but then your climate stays on. I thought this would be a great way to have the best of both worlds. You can certainly just plug the Starlink directly into the 12 volt though. It would work just fine.
Yeah. The funny thing is I think the 12 volt and USB ports used to work when the car was “off” but Tesla changed that on a recent update. Maybe they’ll bring that back.
Pretty good. I’ve only done a couple of more local trips so far, but during those times, we had two iPads streaming for the kids and it never dropped internet. I was getting similar speeds to the speed test in the video a couple of the time I tried it on I-95. That would make an interesting video though - reliability and speed while in motion.
That was creative
Great video. Why didn't you attach Starlink mini to the trunk side rear windshield?

@@DadIncognito Something that Tesla could hopefully implement as a feature in the future that it will not shut off.

How well does it work when driving down the interstate?
