I have PCOS and aggressive endometriosis, which requires surgery every two years and has caused hormonal acne that my dermatologist couldn't control with ANY medication or treatment including Tretinoin. However, I discovered the Reedle shot about three months ago, and incorporating that with tretinoin since then has me free from any kind of acne, including hormonal acne. Last month I had three surgeries due to endometriosis and in the past just the sheer stress of surgeries caused my hormonal acne to flare up like no other and required antibiotics to control it. But this time I have ZERO acne. Being in my 30s I am not worried about foreign body granulomas showing up in another 60 years so I am willing to take my chances with this product because everything else has failed me. Also, the company stated very clearly that the reedles shed from our skin within 72 hours. If you choose not to believe that because of ONE doctor's opinion then that's up to you. This is my personal experience so don't come for me.
They leave comments because they think differently from me after watching the video. I bought it about a month ago and used it, but when I applied it at first, the tingling decreased and my skin was cleaned up quickly, so it worked a lot. The irritation depends on the individual, but it worked a lot when I or people around me used it. Personally, I recommend using this cosmetic product
Based on the dermatologists ive asked about this, the real concern is prolonged usage. What if theres spicule built up after years of usage. What happens if it reaches your lungs. Just to be clear, anyone using this right now are the test subjects. So be cautious about recommending a product thats technically still being tested on it s customers
The concerns online seem slightly overblown, but I see where they're coming from and I myself do have reservations. On one hand these products are manufactured by reputable brands and subject to standard regulation in Korea. It's been viral for a while and enough brands have come out with their own spicule item that I think at least the short-term safety level is okay (the most common side effects seem to be stinging and irritation - not unusual for cosmetics) But for the long-term, I'm most interested in knowing if there could potentially be any accidental inhaling of the spicules, and if so, do they build up over time, and is the damage or adverse effects (if any) reversible. And then there's getting it into your eyes as well (the spicules shed gradually on their own, per the manufacturer). I feel like most people miss these considerations when they impulse buy on the hype - if it gets into your system without mechanisms of removal, the outcomes (again, if any) might not show for a very long time. It's entirely possible that the tech has not even been out long enough for studies and testing to catch these complications. Then again, doing safety studies on this is surely quite costly and time-consuming, so I'm hoping the big Korean cosmetics conglomerates are already onto this. You'd think with all their R&D they would be ahead of the wave, so if they take longer to come out with their own spicule tech, hopefully that means there's more scrutiny for its safety, and extra research on formulation to minimize irritation. I'd be much more likely to use this if people didn't say it feels like rubbing glass on your skin 😹
the sponge spicules are very common in facials in Korea. I had a lot of facials with them with a high concentration back in 2017. It helped drastically reduce my scarring and acne and even helped my boyfriend with his pitted cystic acne scars. I actually interned at a company that does the facials and sells at-home kits with a lower concentration. I have never had anyone come forward with an adverse or foreign body reaction. I wish there were more studies to prove this though. But if you have already tried this product please feel a bit safer knowing my experience. Do try in the future with caution.
Thank you so much for this! I think the reason why a lot of koreans have really great skin is how advanced their products and treatments. I have pitted scars and do monthly microneedling and was thinking of buying VT reedle shot. Im now convinced with your comment and the other one who is a Polymer scientist.
People won’t care because going by these comments if it’s not American made/ approved by an American entity they think it’s scary. That’s their right of course. But I think it’s a bit dramatic to call this “terrifying” Lip fillers and subscision is terrifying. Saint Ives scrub is terrifying. It’s no wonder Asian skincare is years ahead of the west
Hi Dr. Dray, I am a user of reedle-shot and I came across your video where you mentioned silica granulomas. This raised some concerns for me, so I decided to look into the matter further. Based on my research, there seems to be some disagreement regarding the potential for silica granulomas to develop from using reedle shot. Here are some key points to consider: 1. Crystalline vs. Non-crystalline(Amorphous) Silica Silica can be either crystalline or non-crystalline. The majority of studies linking silica exposure to granulomas have focused on crystalline silica. 2. Synthetic Crystalline Silica and Granulomas There is evidence regarding the development of granuloma from inhaling synthetic silica, but reedle shot is not a product designed for inhalation through the nose, nor could it be. 3. Toxicity of Non-crystalline(Amorphous) Silica There is currently limited research on the toxicity of non-crystalline silica, and no studies have specifically linked it to granuloma formation. 4. Non-crystalline Nature of Reedle-shot Spicules The spicules in reedle-shot are made from non-crystalline silica derived from the skeletons of marine sponges. Therefore, their potential to cause granulomas is considered to be much lower compared to crystalline silica. I believe it is premature and irresponsible to connect the use of reedle-Shot with silica granuloma. As an expert, if my opinion is incorrect, I would appreciate it if you could provide evidence linking the use of spicule or the application of non-crystalline(amorphous) silica on skin to cases of silica granuloma.
She did not say that Reedle would cause granulomas, she was using the granulomas as an example of how silica embedded in the skin can react, even years later. It might not happen with Reedle but since spicules are a new treatment without information on long-term side effects I cannot fault her for being cautious.
@@catmoon7594 I disagree, her voicing her potential health concerns about an unresearched product is actually really responsible. Anyone saying that they know that it is safe is the irresponsible one.
It is the opposite of irresponsible. She said she wants to see more long term safety data before she would recommend it. That's what a professional should say.@@catmoon7594
I shared apartment with a classmate during my uni years. One day, she started to have tiny bumps on the forehead. It went from just a few to literally no free space in about a couple months. When she barely touched them to cleanse her face, she felt painful neddles. Everybody said "Nah, deep pimples, they' ll mature, just wait." Getting an appointment with a pro derm for "a forehead break out" in the early 90' s? Sci-fi🤷🏻♀️. When she couldn' t stand the pain anymore, suddenly, one of the bumps spat a sharp crystal. It turned out that she had have a motorcycle accident 3 years ago and that micro pieces of broken glass had been living under her skin until the body was able to push them into the surface. This memory came into my mind at the speed of light when I knew about the spicles. What the hell can happen after x, y or z amount of time? 🤔😕... If you are wondering how the story ended, once her body expelled hundreds of pieces for months, she treated her terrible scars with ATO glycolic at 384% because she was lucky enough to have a family who could afford it in the pre-microneedling and laser era. 🧛🏻♀️🖤
Oh poor girl, that must have been so painful & scary! Glad her family had resources so she could finally heal. And def absolutely not with the spicules, my tender skin can’t take it
I have been curious a lot for reedle shot but it is getting viral a lot in Korea and Japan. Becuase they said it has discrimination with other products using specialized techniques! I also bought on amazon and saw the dramatic improvement in good way honestly.
The response i got from VT cosmetics is that the Micro-CICA Reedle falls out within 2-3 days with facial washing, as stated on the website. The website is mostly in korean, it'll be great if someone could look into the website to learn about the technology.
@@jasonchau1161 haha nah i tried it, i have malassezia and it made me break out so i can’t use it anyway. According to her product ingredients don’t affect malassezia, only occlusion, but this product is not occlusive at all. since seeing first hand how wrong she can be because she ONLY looks at studies and not at what people are experiencing as well, i have lost a lot of trust in her.
I have been using 100,300, and 700 for around three weeks now. Rotating between them. I have quite bad hormonal acne, esp around my jaw area. After using reedle shot plus their masks for two three weeks, I’m so happy to say that my skin texture got so much better 😭😭😭 my acne along my jaw was a lot lesser or like it healed a lot faster. The reedles really helped with getting the products or the hydration into my skin. Not much side effects too. Only maybe if I use the 700 one on my neck it’ll make my neck too sensitive and be itchy. Other than that everything is amazing!! I have also been using their pdrn serum thing and I feel like they work really well with the reedle shots. No issues abt it poking my eyes or whatever too haha. I really love this product. Can’t wait to see how my skin will look in a month!
Micro-CICA Reedle falls out within 2-3 days with facial washing, as stated on the website, so I have been using it! My acne-prone skin has really improved so I love it🥰
@@genshinF2Play legit what I’m saying. They contradicted everything in the video. There aren’t a lot of studies at all, so how are they claiming to obtain something there’s no record of??
longterm safety was the exact concern that stopped me from placing an order. the fact that the hydrolysed sponge gets in together with the cica and other ingredients makes me uncomfortable - we wouldn't leave needles in our skin after every injection, why would we want an accumulation of sponge in it from regular skincare application?
I remember when Dr. Dray reviewed some of the Korean sunscreens and noticed how the ones she reviewed only had two filters and might not actually have SPF 50. Fast forward a few months from that we got the whole sunscreen scandal, which led many brands to reformulate their sunscreens. I was just about to purchase this product but definitely skipping it for now! Thank you Dr. Dray!!
I think about that video at least once a month! Still impresses me how she casually noted that something seemed off about the limited number of filters several months prior to everything hitting the fan
A lot of Korean stuff that the west knows are literally not even known in actual Korea. Many are also outdated old technology and ingredients. You need to really follow actual Koreans or ones that live or work in Korean beauty industry.
@@minoriruba1828 by first following only Korean content creators. I"ve been using this for over a week along with tretenoin and I've had zero issues. It is a bit tingly but nothing uncomfortable. As a former skin care professional I wouldn't say be terrified of the product but I appreciate your thoughts and everyone's skin is different :)!. I am 54 years old with menopausal/hormonal skin and it's made a difference so far as far as texture and helping even out my skin tone ...I will definitely buy again :)
@@awesomepuppy215 the 300.. My hair dresser and another person in the salon asked what I was using on my skin because they said it was glowing haha. I also use the Vitamin C moisturizer by the same brand AM and PM it is simply awesome :).. My skin is mature yet pretty tough. If you're sensitive I would start with the 100 :)
I've been using Reedle shot products for about 3 months now, and at first I was worried that the cica reedle would get stuck in the skin and not come out, but after researching, I found out that it doesn't melt into the skin but falls off along with dead skin cells.
Silica Granulomas aside, my worry is for people, like me, who touch their faces often. Even if you wash your hands after use, it only takes one eye rub and you’ve potentially got the spicules in the tear ducts, or worse, the eyeball itself. This can easily lead to blindness and just isn’t worth the risk.
Thank you for this! I don't think you're paranoid, for the record. I appreciate that we can get informed opinions from actual medical doctors like this because you've laid out the info for us, explained why you're cautious, and then left it up to us to decide whether to use the product or not.
OMG! Dr. Dray, your video caught my attention right away. In 2017-2018, I suffered from hormonal arne and stress. That was actually a bit terrifying. I came to a local spa, and they used the same kinda reedle, I couldnt remember the brand, but it was a Korean brand too. They explained to me that it was micro/nano chemical needles that would be absorbed to my skin, stimulate new skin cell/collagen and my skin will recover after 3-5 days. I tried, all the acnes disappeared after 3 times (I did go there and they applied once a month for me). Then the spa closed since the owner moved to another city, I stopped using this. After 3 months, I started suffering from foreign body granuloma (I just realized that after watching your video yesterday and today again, bcoz English is not my mother tounge, I had to google picture this phrase, it is and it looks exactly like what I experienced back in the end of Dec 2018, early 2019). My skin became extremely sensitive to the environment which I thought it was polluted and caused the severe problems. I went to the dermatologist and backthen I had to take a lot of medicines... Now after listening to you, did read everything related to your theory, I trust that it will not be good in the long run. THANK YOU A BUNCH ❤

I use the 300, it really has made my skin look better overnight. I haven’t been using it the 3x’s a week like it said bc I have sensitive skin & didn’t want to over due it.
I’ve been waiting for you to review this for so long. 😭 You’re the only reviewer I’ve seen that’s addressed “how do the spicules get out of the skin/do they dissolve?” Not even the brand has addressed it, which is the scariest part. Qure Microinfusion review next please, a lot of dermatologist are endorsing it and would love to hear your thoughts. 🙂
@@gabiiibarricatti8999 If you are patting/tapping it into your skin like how I’m assuming it’s intended application for it is (based off how I see everyone applying it), the circular motions of washing your face doesn’t seem like it would dislodge them (unless they are sticking out of your skin) and maybe further push them in. 😕 And it’s not clear if the VT Reedles dissolve.
Am anxious for an honest review on the Qure Microinfusion system, especially for those of us battling melasma. I see other Dermatologists endorse it, and kind of dismiss the concerns regarding triggering melanocytes. It’s confusing.
I’m using the 100 for over a week plus Medik8 retinol cream (night) and have no issues. I also feel that the sensation of the spicules reduces the next morning after I wash my face
Thanks for your review honestly I prefer to get my recommendations from doctors/dermatologists know a days I feel like influencers just say EVERYTHING is good… I’m glad to see that there is products we should be aware of!!! ❤
@Tanovah I understand, we have different skin. What works for me won't work for you, what works for you means nothing to someone else. Best thing to do is listen to pros and cons and try it for yourself.
I'm obviously not the OP but since you seem to be implying that it must be something else they are using, I can say for me *personally,* improvements have been seen only with the addition of the 100 reedle version of this product. I have changed nothing other than adding it and have had others commented that my skin was looking good. I do not have good skin. I have cystic acne, melasma, and sensitive skin that tends to peel even if it's not irritated. The product does not claim to treat acne, but I have found at the very least that it has reduced it and what's more apparent to me is how quickly my zits have recovered. I had 2 that had just exploded the day before I started using it, which always leaves me with an open wound and really red marks that take a long time to fade. I've only been using it about a week but I only got one budding cyst yesterday that absolutely should be on fire right now, but it actually backed off and now I just feel the slight bump where it was. That just doesn't happen for me. Ever. If I am starting to get one, it's coming whether I like it or not, and no microdart patch or topical is going to prevent it. Maybe it's what actives are in the lotion, or maybe the reedles are helping my usual skincare absorb better, but something has definitely changed since I started using it.
I bought this a few days ago. The 300 and the 100 version. I put the 300 on my face and then put my regular retinA on my face for night time. It didn’t cause any irritation. I definitely will consider all of this information though. Thank you for sharing!
I use glycolic and retinol with it. Don't be afraid of the Reedles. The company has addressed this issue. The longest the reedles stay in is 72 hours. They slough right off with the dead skin
@@anisuafura YOU can’t. Not WE, lol! I did it already and my skin looked great afterwards. Therefore, I can because my skin tolerated it and tolerated AHAs the next day as well. It is still doing fine today. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I respect Dr Dray’s thoughts, but I also note that no actual testing occurred, so I’m going to wait and see if others that I follow and respect try it out.
I saw a video about this a couple of days ago and the person raved so much about it… obv, I got excited and spent some time combing online to see where could I buy it but didn’t have any luck as it is not readily available here in Canada. I am so thankful that I came across your video and appreciate very much your professional and personal opinion. THANK YOU!
I agree with you. My concern was lung cancer and the potential for the cream to dry up and create some sort of dust and me ending up breathing this. The problem is that the effect will not show up immediately so by the time you get some side effects you might not even be able to link this to the cream.

But now that you’ve explained the possible problems that may come with this product I’ve changed my mind about buying it…Thank you for de-influencing me to buy this, Dr. Dray!

Omg , i just saw another channel hyping this up a couple days ago and i thought "Ive got to ask Dr Dray about this!" . Have u done a review of Qure , the disposable microneedling kit? Other YT derms have endorsed its use. Your channel is awesome!
I've seen at least one esthetician who's not convinced and she microneedles at home with different devices. She even suggested a different type of stamper in her video.
@@db-gb5xithink I might know which one you mean I just don't think this is a good idea unless you have a sterile environment and clean skin. Administered by a doctor.
@@traceykoontz2868 no one is microneedling in a sterile environment, not even doctors. Microneedling isn’t performed in an operating room - they don’t even use a sterile field or sterile gloves. This isn’t surprising really as even injections aren’t performed with sterile gloves and an alcohol swab is sufficient to prep the skin. That being said, I do think education and correct technique and sanitation is really important for microneedling.
I felt the spicules in the 300 in my face. Didn’t hurt but definitely felt like what my parents would tell us as kids to not touch the insulation because of the fiber glass. This is exactly would I would think fiber glass feels like on skin.

I find that Dr Dray can be a bit alarmist so I always listen/watch with a grain of salt. Take into account other derm opinions. I love many products that DD poopoo’d.
Oh God I was just contemplating ordering this. I admit after seeing a few reviews I realized that all the hype is being created by influencers who've been sponsored by this brand. I was still willing to give this product a try. Not anymore. Thank you Dr. Dray for saving my money.
I think Dr Dray did not just saved you money, but potentially saved your body from future harm.😅I keep thinking of all these spicules flowing all over the body...and then calcifying and what-nots. Tres terrifying! 😵💫
I bought it 3 days ago, the 300 variant. After gathering all the courage i tried it the following night. It tingled just a little bit. When i applied my moisturizer after 5 minutes, it hurt more. The next night I applied the regular avene retinaldehyde and boy what terrible turn things took! My face was red like a tomato! I had to apply a thick layer of cicaplast to soothe it down. Today is the next day and my skin is still sensitive. I am definite returning the product! Oh, and the specules stayed in the skin the next morning inspite of washing with a cleanser. I actually triple cleansed with a foaming cleanser. I could feel the sharpness all along my morning skincare
i really like this product and this video highly exaggerated. It is not terrifying at all. Injections is your face is more terrifying then a cream with some micro spickles
Finally, a voice of reason. What happens to the shed spicules? Is my other concern. What if someone uses a towel to wipe their hands off after using this and then someone else uses that towel on their eyes? What if pets, babies or children come into contact with the shed spicules on pillows, blankets, carpeting, etc...Those spicules as you pointed out do not go away...they're just shedding everywhere and left on soft surfaces. This same company is selling a vitamin c cream for use with this product, that can also cause granulomas.
Maybe I’m stupid, but if tiny shards of silica designed to burrow into your skin are in there, what’s to say they won’t keep burrowing for a while, even through other organs?
In my country we use pure sponge powder for ages. Mostly for arthritis but also for postacne spots. It has great skin benefits! But not suitable for very sensitive skin. I have tried vt shot 100 and it is very gentle on my rosacea prone skin. Just don't use on compromised skin
@sugarfree_2023 I would like to know more about the sponge powder especially for arthritis. Can you please explain more or post a link? Thank you so much 😊
This probably means Badyaga (Spongilla). In Russian - Бадяга. It is a powder made from crushed freshwater sponges. In Russia, it is a traditional folk medicine. Various creams, ointments, gels with this powder have long been used for medicinal purposes for sciatica, arthritis, rheumatism, bruising, post-acne scars. It has a local irritant effect, accelerates blood circulation. It costs a penny.
I bought this after seeing 2 Korean RUclipsrs rave about it. I wish I would’ve waited for your review. I bought the 700 and holy guacamole can you feel it. So much so, I felt that prickly sensation every time I touched my face until I washed it. That being said, my texture improved immensely. I will not continue use until I see more peer reviewed data. I got caught up in the hype. Lesson learned.
My question is why did you buy the 700 when you haven’t tried it? Everyone that endorses it says to start off with the 100 (or the 50 if you can find it) so your skin gets used to it
Your mistake was jumping instantly to 700 ver and not doing more research for yourself. Why did you not use lower doses like literally everywhere says you’re supposed to? This is user error. You don’t jump straight to hard acids before you know your skin can handle it.
nobody starts with 700 directly. blame yourself first. when you experience something, you would better search about it first. even in korea they carefully step up from the start.
The people blaming you in your reply section are crazy. Guess they don't know that everyone's skin is different. I started with 700 too, BUT it done NO HARM for me.
thanks Dr Dray for sharing your thoughts on this. I have the vt reedle shot 100 , been using it for a couple of weeks now. I only use it every other day as I feel it sensitizes my skin. Hopefully the company comes up with safety studies on this one in the future as it seems to be a promising product
I’m from Ukraine. Here, for over 100 years, we’ve been using creams and serums with spicules. We call this product "bodyaga." It’s used for bruises, scars, and so on. It’s a wonderful remedy-I always take it with me when traveling to quickly get rid of a bruise if I bump into something. However, "bodyaga" isn’t suitable for the face, as its spicules are too coarse. Now that Koreans have released these serums, I’m very happy! Of course, I’d like to see more research on spicules, but for now, I can definitely see improvements in my skin. It’s important to follow the instructions-use it once every three days, applying just a few drops to the face.
Hi Dr. Dray, could you go further in-depth? Is there any body of research about what happens to the spicules if they do get embedded in the skin? Is there a possibility of the body breaking them down harmlessly?
@Dr Dray, On their Amazon page they (VT cosmetics)mention that "Cica Reedle is designed to naturally shed along with the skin's dead cells 72 hours after application. Even if any residues remain, they will be removed natural". I am not sure how reliable this information is though
I’ve been using it in the mornings followed by Dear Klair’s vitamin c for a couple weeks now and haven’t had any problems whatsoever, though I understand your concerns. I probably won’t repurchase it since I haven’t noticed any crazy awesome changes in my skin texture
I think Dr Dray you talked about the potential issues with spicules before...and here we are. I think years to come, there'll be a big bunch of folks having all sorts of health complications from these and not realizing it came from their supposedly innocuous skincare.
Thank you for so important informations ! I was negative about this product at the first time, but after researching I found out the "Cica Reedle " will fall of after 2-3days with dead skin cells. And the skin texture of my skin is so dramatic, I just can't stop using it right now :)
I was PRAYING you talked about this I was so interested in it, and googled what happened to the sponge bits but no answers anywhere so I’m so glad you explained it
There’s many people in the comments who are saying: don’t worry!!! Their own WEBSITE says they expel themselves from the skin!!! And given very little information on them, I’d take that with a grain of salt
I took ceramics/pottery classes in school. We were always warned about the risks of constantly breathing in silica particles from the clay and developing silicosis if we didn’t clean up well enough. I wouldn’t be surprised if foreign body granulomas are also a risk of constantly being around and working with clay. Thanks for this video.
Thank you Dr Dray! In today's day and ago of fast skincare and viral products, discernment is super important. No false praise or unnecessary fear mongering. Just the facts and your honest review 💯
Got a few sponge spicule treatments and they changed my skin for the better. Hyperpigmentation and acne. It’s just not extensively researched but such naturally found ingredient has lots of potentials if used right. Looking forward to seeing more people experimenting and researching it.
When I saw people describe the reedles, I was like “hang on, isn’t that why we’re not supposed to touch fiberglass??” But ngl I still want to try it because of all the results people have been describing. The idea of a microneedle in a cream is so tempting.
Hey, you do you. If little particles potentially staying stuck in your skin is something you want to risk, then why show hesitation in your purchase? Just do it
We all have different skin types and weird reactions to different things, so you should ask your dermatologist. I learned the hard way to stop buying numerous products just because a dermatologist on social media recommended them for a specific skin issue. This is particularly crucial if you have autoimmune disorders or other skin conditions. 👽♥️♥️♥️
Never heard of them, but thanks for shedding light on the subject. Not that I’m going to be trying it at my age, but never to old to learn something new.
My husband used those “barbed” patches and then that area got infected, and then he had to go to the hospital because he was running a high fever and shaking. This patch was very high end Korean skin care and well known too… now he’s left with a forever scar on his chin…
LOVE LOVE SPICULES!!! ❤ Finally a new technology (thanks Korea!) that penetrates deep into my skin to perform miracles without irritation. Acne prone and combination girlie here... Thankful for my very clear skin results after only 1 week. So happy to skip Retinol now that im in my 40s, since many have claimed comes with possible irritations that includes peelings. Thanks for your insights still Dr Dray, hope u change your mind with more good evidences in years to come.
one thing I must say is that Eastern skincare is years ahead of the west. no wonder they have very nice skin. These same people don’t bat an eye at Botox and subscision but this is “terrifying”? How much of these women were using Saint Ives scrub as teens? Some still do it now
A popular aesthetician here on YT is pushing a similar product, which i ended up buying, but i saw another content creator who talked about the same thing you're talking about. I returned it back to Amazon.
So glad a specialist is finally talking about it! I felt sceptical about it and it turns out for a reason! The whole idea of a product like that equals to rubbing your face with glass wool IMO.
Same😅. Last week I was offered resveratrol as a good option while I take a rest from treti. I said "Thank you, I' ll think about it and I' ll come back". I just walked to the corner to have a cuppa, search _Dr Dray Resveratrol_ , watch her video and came back to buy it😉.
Mmm I would use more than one source... there is a reason why korean skincare Is the best in the world. They aren't allowed to put as many harmful ingredients as USA allows. A lot of her concerns from the video havd been addressed already. Idk I was honestly disappointed, i wish she would have done more research into the product
I was really excited about this product. I kept it on my wishlist for a while now, but you are one of the few content creators who I actually trust. So...I guest I will try pro microneedling instead.
Thank you for this Dr. Dray! I bought this a month ago after watching 3 hyped sponsored influencer videos and thought only good things can come of it. WRONG! Used it for only 3 days and caused rashes. Only listening to Dr. Dray from now on.
This is exactly why I didn’t venture to try it with my sensitive skin! I have a strong feeling that this will be taken off the market before much longer.

@@RebelianAngie customers globally are easily manipulated. Even if it is sold out fast, it does not mean 100% buyers love it. It just means the product is overhyped and mostly thanks to iinfluencers who raved about it despite using it not that long. Thank you! I’m curious if you reached out to the company is S Korea to inquire the research data they may have complied when formulating this technology or preparation? I’m sure they did their due diligence right? I am expecting a bottle of the VT reedle 300 to be delivered today. After listening to your thoughts I will definitely do several patch tests before using all over my face. Please tell us Which kbeauty subscription box was that you showed?
Please don't only take Dr. Dray's opinion on this issue. I highly recommend searching Eunniunnie VT Interview where she reviews a lady from the product development team who helped in making this product where she explains more about the ingredients, how much time and research it went into making it, and the safety of it (and yes there's English subtitles!)
@CW-rx2js again watch the interview. So much time and research went into making the product and she explains clearly that the spores used don't stay long. It's not good to get your opinion from one source, let alone an American doctor who had no role making a Korean product
1) she’s from the company, she definitely won’t say it’s unsafe 2) the potential issues can take 60 years to develop. Have they been researching this for 60 years?
I would be so afraid to use this and accidentally get some in my eyes. With most things I could just rinse it out, but I just feel like those spicules would cause physical damage when I blinked if it got in my eye.
I ve got great result and continued to use it now, your video makes me confuse whether I should keep continuing it or not. I do not want to give up this product😢
Literally was searching for a dr dray review on this product before buying it a week ago. Glad the delivery is taking forever so I saw this before putting it on my face. Thanks Dr Dray!
thx for sharing. I wanted to order this today and now I am thinking if I still try it out because I am curious or wait a little bit to see if new research or longterm reviews come out. Defintely greatful that you mentioned potential risks and not only hype up the product like everybody else.
I think it’s better to be skeptical and wary of a new technology until it’s been tested properly. In the rush to come out with new products first and make the most money off of it, I feel like testing is treated like something that happens as people pay for it and try it. Personally, I feel it’s a responsibility of the company to prove safety and efficacy before putting it out for purchase.

I’ve only gone wrong with skincare when I’ve ignored Dr Dray’s advice. I’ve finally learned to only irritate my skin, including using any cloth other than a microfiber, when needed and never when skin is acting up. I’m on a 3 month reset because I kept introducing exfoliants back in too soon. I’ve finally graduated to a weekly Vit C mask, I miss my glycolic acid but that’s not til late March… we’re having unusually low temps due to high winds, I figure I need to be proactive during winter, and it’s so sunny I’m spfing even more than usual (2 layers to start, reapply once or twice even when indoors…I’m spotty gotta be extra careful).
I purchased in the various levels, was able to go up to 300 but felt needle pain? which freaked me out and I went back down. I was thankful my skin responded well to the lower levels. Thank you for sharing your insight on this product, I don’t think I feel comfortable using this with this knowledge
Thanks for the advice. I have reasonably good skin and my skin barrier appears to be working well . I am pleased you explained about these spicules, and similarly, I'm not going to be using such products. However, I'm also in 2 minds generally even about microneedling my skin as that breaks the skin barrier which I would prefer not to whilst I dont have any particular skin problem. Don't fix what isn't broken. Each to their own.
There are other doctors and professionals out there that have good things to say about this product. Do your research and listen to your body, do what works for you. I was worried too, but decided to give it a try.. and I love it. I’m in my 50s and seeing good results so far. My plan is to use the 100 daily for a few weeks and switch to the 300 and use it once or twice a week, then eventually use it less.
I’m glad you had positive results. I just started using the 100 strength of this product.
Every woman on my mother’s side has had endo. I am so very sorry that you have had such horrible suffering with it.
How do you use this with tretinoin?

@@genshinF2Play … why?
Thank you
Exactly. People didn't know the long yerm affects if fillers until now and look at them :(@Lime1958
The concerns online seem slightly overblown, but I see where they're coming from and I myself do have reservations. On one hand these products are manufactured by reputable brands and subject to standard regulation in Korea. It's been viral for a while and enough brands have come out with their own spicule item that I think at least the short-term safety level is okay (the most common side effects seem to be stinging and irritation - not unusual for cosmetics)
But for the long-term, I'm most interested in knowing if there could potentially be any accidental inhaling of the spicules, and if so, do they build up over time, and is the damage or adverse effects (if any) reversible.
And in Russia as well. It’s actually a powder, mix with water and put directly on the skin, clears up pigmentation.
People won’t care because going by these comments if it’s not American made/ approved by an American entity they think it’s scary. That’s their right of course. But I think it’s a bit dramatic to call this “terrifying”
Lip fillers and subscision is terrifying. Saint Ives scrub is terrifying. It’s no wonder Asian skincare is years ahead of the west
Correlation ain’t equals causation.

Hi Dr. Dray,
I am a user of reedle-shot and I came across your video where you mentioned silica granulomas. This raised some concerns for me, so I decided to look into the matter further.
Based on my research, there seems to be some disagreement regarding the potential for silica granulomas to develop from using reedle shot. Here are some key points to consider:
1. Crystalline vs. Non-crystalline(Amorphous) Silica
Silica can be either crystalline or non-crystalline. The majority of studies linking silica exposure to granulomas have focused on crystalline silica.
2. Synthetic Crystalline Silica and Granulomas
There is evidence regarding the development of granuloma from inhaling synthetic silica, but reedle shot is not a product designed for inhalation through the nose, nor could it be.
3. Toxicity of Non-crystalline(Amorphous) Silica
There is currently limited research on the toxicity of non-crystalline silica, and no studies have specifically linked it to granuloma formation.
4. Non-crystalline Nature of Reedle-shot Spicules
The spicules in reedle-shot are made from non-crystalline silica derived from the skeletons of marine sponges.
I mean, she said she is a bit paranoid and wants to be safe than sorry, and wants to see more research on this matter
She did not say that Reedle would cause granulomas, she was using the granulomas as an example of how silica embedded in the skin can react, even years later.
It might not happen with Reedle but since spicules are a new treatment without information on long-term side effects I cannot fault her for being cautious.
It’s irresponsible to insinuate that with her platform though without any evidence but hearsay..

If you are wondering how the story ended, once her body expelled hundreds of pieces for months, she treated her terrible scars with ATO glycolic at 384% because she was lucky enough to have a family who could afford it in the pre-microneedling and laser era.

longterm safety was the exact concern that stopped me from placing an order. the fact that the hydrolysed sponge gets in together with the cica and other ingredients makes me uncomfortable - we wouldn't leave needles in our skin after every injection, why would we want an accumulation of sponge in it from regular skincare application?
My concern as well
I remember when Dr. Dray reviewed some of the Korean sunscreens and noticed how the ones she reviewed only had two filters and might not actually have SPF 50. how did you find that out? I've been searching for more info and have been struggling.

I’ve been waiting for you to review this for so long. 😭 You’re the only reviewer I’ve seen that’s addressed “how do the spicules get out of the skin/do they dissolve?” Not even the brand has addressed it, which is the scariest part.
I also read that spicules dissolve within 72 hours. So there isn’t any damage to your skin. But I guess all skin types react differently to it.
Am anxious for an honest review on the Qure Microinfusion system, especially for those of us battling melasma. I see other Dermatologists endorse it, and kind of dismiss the concerns regarding triggering melanocytes. It’s confusing.

I’m happy your experience is good. We all are. Unfortunately it doesn’t mean anything for us though
@Tanovah I understand, we have different skin. What works for me won't work for you, what works for you means nothing to someone else. Best thing to do is listen to pros and cons and try it for yourself.
Yeah, but does that because of this one?😂 I guess you are taking care of skin in general, and also using many product along with this one as well.
I bought this a few days ago. The 300 and the 100 version. I put the 300 on my face and then put my regular retinA on my face for night time. It didn’t cause any irritation. I definitely will consider all of this information though. Thank you for sharing!
As far as I concern, we cant use 300/100/700 with retinol/tretinoin/retinal
I use glycolic and retinol with it. Don't be afraid of the Reedles. The company has addressed this issue. The longest the reedles stay in is 72 hours. They slough right off with the dead skin

Had just bought this in the 300. Used it last night and just submitted a return to Amazon based on this review. Thanks Dr.

Meh i was really disappointed a lot of her concerns have already been addressed.
OMG. Sounds painful. Hope you get relief soon.
Poor you 😢 your review definitely helps me a lot
I wonder if a Biore strip would help pull them out?
@@cynthialeech2507 DO NOT TRY THIS! Further injury to the skin will only make things worse.
God, the specules really be eating you 💀
i really like this product and this video highly exaggerated. It is not terrifying at all. Injections is your face is more terrifying then a cream with some micro spickles
I take my words back. This product gave me terrible break outs( that i never have!) and a bumpy forehead full of whiteheads. Buyer beware!
This same company is selling a vitamin c cream for use with this product, that can also cause granulomas.
exactly, what if they aren't properly expelled by the body? honestly it looks very scary to me, specially because there are many concentrations
It would be nice to know what brands are out there regarding this sponge powder. Thanks!😊
Everyone that endorses it says to start off with the 100 (or the 50 if you can find it) so your skin gets used to it
700 is too strong. You should start at 50 then move up to 100. I think 100 is good enough.
Thank you for all the 411. I always learn a lot from you, please keep up the good work!
thanks Dr Dray for sharing your thoughts on this.
It’s important to follow the instructions-use it once every three days, applying just a few drops to the face.
this was my gut feeling as well. Thank you for your honesty
Me too! I put it in my cart yesterday and decided to do a little more research .

But she's from the company!! You expect them to be unbiased?
@CW-rx2js again watch the interview. So much time and research went into making the product and she explains clearly that the spores used don't stay long. It's not good to get your opinion from one source, let alone an American doctor who had no role making a Korean product

thx for sharing.
