    Great video. The BMW F750 and F850 were such a disappointment / step backwards compared to the previous gen F700GS and F800GS which were so much lighter. I was excited to buy one until I realized I would have been downgrading. Kept my F700GS instead... Hopefully these new F800 and F900 GS are a step in the right direction!

    The Africa twin is so much better with the new front wheel. It’s been on the GS for years and most bikes stay on the road in the UK I would consider one now.

    As a new(but old) rider I would be considering the Himalayan or the NX500, but realistically I would more likely buy a 2nd hand bike anyway, so an interesting market they are targeting.

    Kudos to BMW for reducing the weight on their new mid and full size GS bikes, even though that's a bit like congratulating a 300 pound girl on slimming down to 250 pounds.
    The Chinese manufacturers are starting to attempt to fill the Goldilocks gap in every large motorcycle manufacturer's ADV lineup, between their heavy mid/full size ADV bikes and their low end 300 cc small ADV bikes that are clearly marketed as beginner bikes that get new riders on the upgrade path to their much more profitable proper ADV bikes in the 800-1300 cc class, with a 500 pound weight that makes them real wallowing pigs off road. CF Moto and Kove have some 450 cc offerings that are light enough to do well off road but with enough power to comfortably cruise on the highway when needed. I can't wait for Indian manufacturers to make a 450-500 cc single that's lightweight and off road oriented. Keep it simple. 5 gallon fuel tank, large rear rack, aluminum bash plate and maybe engine protection bars. Minimal equipment but high quality. No cheap switch gear.

  • @markjacobs3956
    @markjacobs3956 8 месяцев назад +1

    I wish the industry and the marketers would get the vernacular right with these big bikes. They are travel bikes at best. 575lbs average weight warrants it. 450 is all a guy needs... just not from the CCP.

  • @johnsumser9743
    @johnsumser9743 9 месяцев назад +2

    I know a lot of it is fashion, but it seems to me that the larger pavement oriented “adventure bikes” are competing with sport tourers and even sporty standards. I really do not see any advantage in an “off road” looking bike running street tires …except of course individual preferences about looks. Any thoughts?

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  8 месяцев назад +2

      The lines are getting blurred and there’s a growing ‘middle ground’ of bikes that straddle ‘adventure’ and ‘touring’. A lot is to do with riding comfort, but in the same way people buy SUV’s the rugged tall look of these bikes is a consideration.

  • @marklevy9

    With the road focused Tenere and Transalp why do these manufacturers persist with tubed tyres?? After 2 flats on an Africa twin vowed never again will I have tubed tyres. Both cases inner tube wrecked so a sealant would not have worked.

    CFMoto 450 looks interesting. I live in a city of 2.2 million people (99.999% are 'anti-motorcycle' people) and there's only 1 CFMoto dealer, however that's better than no dealer at all. And the new liquid cooled RE Himalayan looks the business also (yes, even the welding isn't bad). The new Tenere's from Yamaha should remain a safe bet.

    After picking up my new 1250GSA Rallye, I can’t see me looking at another bike for years. Adv bikes to my eyes are NOT about looking pretty. They get dropped, scratched and dented. So folk that keep banging on about the 1300GS, well, you probably covet your bike rather then get it proper dirty off road - if you ride it the way BMW intend, it’s ain’t going to look pretty after a couple of months😂 so don’t worry about the damn headlight😂

    My view on the smaller brands is that if you’re doing a RTW - or big long trips, you need to buy from a big brand, if something goes wrong, you can get out of the crap faster. That’s what would always steer me away from the likes Guzzi and CF Moto.

    Never been a fan of the big gs how they ride how heavy they are how the boxer produces power how wide they are etc but this new one seems more me than the old battleships aren’t sure why so many people are upset that they’re getting a better road bike when they don’t use them off-road anyway I still think how good the thing is will be blown massively out of proportion like previous models also wonder what the servicing is like on the cf if it’s like say a ktm 450 or wr 450 etc you’ll be servicing it as much as riding it 900 gs seems decent as well 220kg 105bhp sounds like I’d have it over the 1250 and 1300
    Always liked the Africa twin as well but they’re asking 150+bhp money when they only offer 100
    As for the t7 it’s about time they gave the thing a new motor cp3 geared for even more torque perhaps and some tech chucking a mudguard and some pegs on it is a bit lack lustre
