It's ok to be lost in the messages given by Ren, It makes no difference if you have suffered from mental illness or not if you have had other chronic illness or suffered long term pain or fatigue or even addiction he shows us that we are not alone that this is all a part of life. Jessie, you and I experienced this very similarly. 2022 was a bad year for me mentally. I get triggered too by the breathing exercises in “Sick Boi”, as if we don’t know how to breathe and therapists have to teach us to breathe. This song hit me like a pile of bricks emotionally when I first heard it. Chinchilla & Ren’s beautiful harmonies had me very emotional, especially that last chorus. Don’t apologize for having emotions. It’s why we relate to reactors who REALLY get Ren and his struggles that we all relate to. I thank my lucky stars that I found Ren last February - going through a tough emotional time right after my dad passed away. Watching Ren & Chinchilla touch another’s heart is beautiful and i thank you for being vulnerable. And please don’t feel like you have to apologize. Ren’s music can be cathartic, but I found too much all at once can be, well, a bit overwhelming . Please 🙏🏼please allow yourself to mix it up and enjoy some fun, more lighthearted Ren like What You Want, Power, and his take on Bittersweet Symphony. Oh and the busking 👏🏼 live videos!! It's a live trilogy that includes Violate's tale. Ren has all 3 as one video on his page. This trilogy is not for fragile hearts. There are a couple reactors who have a traumatic past who have not returned to the wonderful world of Ren after reacting to it. It is heavy.... Everything else he does goes off in all directions. Welcome to the emotional rollercoaster ride that is the Ren rabbit hole. As a 50 year old guy I have heard lots of music. I had been getting tired of the cookie cutter bands popping up and really had stopped listening to music. Then I found Ren. Typically I have difficulty showing or experiencing emotion due to having Asperger's. Most times I need a social cue to trigger my own emotions. Not with Ren. The first time I saw Hi Ren and especially Chalk Outlines, I cried. Straight up cried. Still do just about every time I watch his videos and I've seen them hundreds of times by now. Chalk Outlines expresses the inner feelings that I had when I was put on psych meds long ago. The lack of what little feeling I had is what made me stop taking them. Just existing wasn't enough. He expressed in his lyrics so eloquently what I could never put to words. Well, before this response turns into a novel, I'd like to mention that you might want to watch "The Tale of Jenny & Screech". It's a trilogy set for 3 characters and there's a video released including all 3 stories. It seems you like theatrical performances and this would fit right into that category.

I feel you when you said you had to speak on thoughts because 30 secs later they may not be there anymore. Ptsd has done that to me. And for me what people dont realize is its not because its from neglect or because i dont care. You simply cant win all the battles in your mind. The inrtrusive ones unfortunately win and occupy your head space no matter how you feel about it.
I know exactly how you felt while listening to this song for the first time. I had the same reaction and I'm a man in my fifties. It's not exaggerated to say that both Ren and Chinchilla managed to help me unlock some pent up issues I hadn't dealt with in my life. Now that I have acknowledged those emotions, I seem to have a life that feels less anxious and downtrodden. Keep up the good work on your reactions and in your life outside the RUclips world. Great reaction. Ren has a beautiful way with expressing those hidden thoughts and feelings many of us have but are afraid to talk about. Always good to have a box of tissues handy! If you're looking for an uplifting song to watch next, you could check out Power. It touches briefly on some difficult times in Ren's past but turns them into a very positive message. Also, the Love Music series, especially parts 1-3. Really fun reggae/ska vibes. Personally I'm not such a fan of part 4.
The Love Music tracks are, to me, Ren just having a bit of fun. Part 4 is very dark humour. It’s probably my 2nd favourite of the four. Part 2 is my favourite. 3 is, coincidentally, 3rd. That’s not to say Part 1 is bad, it’s just a different beast. Still great, just in a different vibe lyrically than the other three which are much more tongue in cheek. Loving your reactions, Jess ❤ I agree with others on here that you should definitely do one or two of Ren’s ‘lighter’ songs before continuing with his heavier subject matter tracks like the Tales. My suggestions would definitely include one or more of the Love Musics, 1990s, Fire, Xbox Marijuana (by The Big Push), Power, Uninvited, My Little Pixie, Children of the Moon and What You Want…for starters lol. There are very few of Ren’s songs, from any of his projects, that I don’t get on with. For context, I’m a 55 yr old British guy with long hair who loves punk, metal and other kinds of rock music. I had been getting tired of the cookie cutter bands popping up and really had stopped listening to music. Then I found Ren. Typically I have difficulty showing or experiencing emotion due to having Asperger's. Most times I need a social cue to trigger my own emotions. Not with Ren. The first time I saw Hi Ren and especially Chalk Outlines, I cried. Straight up cried. Still do just about every time I watch his videos and I've seen them hundreds of times by now. Chalk Outlines expresses the inner feelings that I had when I was put on psych meds long ago. The lack of what little feeling I had is what made me stop taking them. Just existing wasn't enough. He expressed in his lyrics so eloquently what I could never put to words. Well, before this response turns into a novel, I'd like to mention that you might want to watch "The Tale of Jenny & Screech". It's a trilogy set for 3 characters and there's a video released including all 3 stories. It seems you like theatrical performances and this would fit right into that category.

I feel you when you said you had to speak on thoughts because 30 secs later they may not be there anymore. Ptsd has done that to me. And for me what people dont realize is its not because its from neglect or because i dont care. You simply cant win all the battles in your mind. The inrtrusive ones unfortunately win and occupy your head space no matter how you feel about it.
I know exactly how you felt while listening to this song for the first time. I had the same reaction and I'm a man in my fifties. It's not exaggerated to say that both Ren and Chinchilla managed to help me unlock some pent up issues I hadn't dealt with in my life. Now that I have acknowledged those emotions, I seem to have a life that feels less anxious and downtrodden. Keep up the good work on your reactions and in your life outside the RUclips world. If you're looking for an uplifting song to watch next, you could check out Power. It touches briefly on some difficult times in Ren's past but turns them into a very positive message. Also, the Love Music series, especially parts 1-3. Really fun reggae/ska vibes. Personally I'm not such a fan of part 4.
The Love Music tracks are, to me, Ren just having a bit of fun. Part 4 is very dark humour. It’s probably my 2nd favourite of the four. Part 2 is my favourite. 3 is, coincidentally, 3rd. That’s not to say Part 1 is bad, it’s just a different beast. Still great, just in a different vibe lyrically than the other three which are much more tongue in cheek.

I agree with others on here that you should definitely do one or two of Ren’s ‘lighter’ songs before continuing with his heavier subject matter tracks like the Tales.
My suggestions would definitely include one or more of the Love Musics, 1990s, Fire, Xbox Marijuana (by The Big Push), Power, Uninvited, My Little Pixie, Children of the Moon and What You Want…for starters lol. There are very few of Ren’s songs, from any of his projects, that I don’t get on with. For context, I’m a 55 yr old British guy with long hair who loves punk, metal and other kinds of rock music. But Ren shot into my top 5 favourite artists last year.

Every time I've listened to Ren I've had the same feelings and the song has had a huge impact. You don't stop when the song ends either, it's more like the start of a journey, it's like your mind wakes up and comes alive and it leaves you asking questions of yourself.
