Board selection is great. Jamboree buddy showdown minigames take WAY too long and getting a buddy around the last turn is kinda pointless. Too many minigames aren't available in the main party mode imo, idk how much I'll really touch Koopathlon or BKS, much less the rhythm stuff...

      @@freakingluigi6626 "for a party game"
It's difficult to have friends over 24/7. There's at least 7+ hours of just the board game, maybe 2 hours of other content. That's 9 hours if you do everything once, the length of most moderate single player games. You aren't getting through that in one sitting with people, and by the time you do it all, it will have been so long since the old stuff it's basically a fresh experience.

It’s definitely my favorite and I’ve had pretty much all of them. However I’d have disagree with Felix on some points. I feel the game is quite balanced. And the lucky spaces do not bother me. I also have won and seen others beat the player with the advantage on jamboree buddy mini games. Also 12 turns for pro rules is just fine and I love the competitive aspect. My only complaint is I’d like more minigames in party mode and a bigger roster of jamboree buddies and more maps as dlc. Otherwise it’s a. 9/10

  • @EnderMon

The pro mode makes online play feel more like a classic board game with strategy. Still didn’t stop me from losing a game on a 1-10 chance, resulting in me landing on a bowser space on the final turn 😒. Literally would have won the game. Good ol Mario party 😭

I had one gaming friend left by the time I was in my 20s and even tho he was always super anti-nintendo, we had endless amazing Mario party matches. I stopped gaming for 15 years and picked it up again. Now that I'm 40, it's been a bummer having no gaming friends left so I've almost exclusively played JRPGs on my PS5 (which is my favorite genre, anyway)
But I've craved having that multiplayer experience again for a long time now.
I held off, and have never played any games online (short of x and in the 90s or Ultima Online for PC also in the 90s) but I'm at the point where I'm going to give it a try. I can't imagine it being as fun as it can never emulate the laughs, screams, and anger between friends in the same room, but I'm hoping it can recreate at least a small piece of it.
So, once the Switch 2 releases, im jumping back on the Nintendo bandwagon and seeing what Switch gems I missed.
Smash and Mario Party are automatics. For some reason, I've lost my excitement for Mario Kart, but I'm going to pick it up, too.

My main issue with jamboree is the minigames. I found myself not really enjoying the majority of them. I can only think of a few that I actually enjoyed, most of them were just okay or flat out bad. The showdown minigames also drag out a long time and just aren't very fun either. Additionally, only around half of the total minigames can appear in the main mario party mode, which leads to seeing repeated minigames VERY often. I've only played 6 full 15-turn games and I've seen every minigame at least once, and a lot of them multuiple times. It really feels like a downgrade coming from Mario Party Superstars, as that game also had over 100 minigames, and pretty much all of them could appear when playing the boards, which led to so much variety. Also, the overall quality of the minigames is much higher in superstars as opposed to jamboree. The boards themselves in jamboree are really good though. It's really disappointing to see the game struggle with this, especially considering this technically has the most minigames in the series.

Part of the problem is that if you don't have a single joycon, you can't play the motion control minigames, and a lot of them are pretty cool, like the rhythm ones. I don't have 4 joycons for my family, and the two that I do have drift so I don't play with them. That's like 20 games just gone.

@@StratilexSame can be said about the motion control minigames. There's no real reason for most to be motion-based. If they didn't have to be turned off by people who don't like motion controls/have enough joycons, the board minigame lineup would at least be on par with older Mario Parties in terms of sheer numbers. 6/10 for me. BIGGEST issue is, I don't like using the joy-con, nor do I want to use it to play certain minigames. My friend and I decided to play the minigames and some of them are solo minigames that can easily let your friend join in but instead you're playing with NPC's, like why?? Currently, we're still starting and getting stuff unlocked, but still, the minigames required for solo-only or joy-con use is preventing us from trying out everything. The jamboree is neat, especially when you and your friend is against the comp from winning it, lol.

Im genuninely enjoying the story mode type thing. I was shocked to see it as I hadnt seen it in advertising its cute and fun a bit to easy at least on the first one. I also love the addition of both pro mode and back to very customizable rules for party mode being able to turn off bonus stars, adjust speed of npc movement and actions, of course the standard difficulty sliders for each, all the seperate modes online and offline are pretty cool they always have some but this feels more fleshed out. I also like that like in 8 we have things we can purchase save and unlock. I think the only way to one up this game is adjust the npcs they seem to just know things making gameplay sometimes diffcult or way to easy because they are reliant on that one path to victory and if you can figure it out before they act on it. I want them to feel more real and to be better at minigames. I also want a minumum of 8 maps in the next game give us 2 new original maps and pick one map from previous entries hopefully including a map from 8 the last of the traditonal style mario party and huge favorite

I just got this game yesterday and so far I have to say this might easily be one of the best post Hudson Soft Mario Party games because while I enjoyed Super Mario Party, I did have some issues with game such as the boards being too small and grid based and the game's difficulty being too easy and furthermore I wasn't fan that the only to play Super Mario Party was to use Joy-Cons which I never was a fan of those controllers personally.
Thankfully Jamboree fixes some of these issues like being able to use a Pro Controller is great and the boards a lot bigger and not a grid based and the actually brought back items which is neat because Items haven't been in Mario Party game since Mario Party 8.
My only real complaint with Jamboree is that I'm not really a fan of the remake minigames and I wish NDcube could strictly to making more original minigames Jamboree instead of half of the minigames relying on nostalgia. Also, while the smaller modes look fun, I have good felling it's just going to follow tradition NDcube fashion where the smaller game modes are fun but ultimately not really replay-able.
Overall, I'm really enjoying Jamboree, and while I still prefer the Mario Party games from Hudson Soft it still enjoyed this game, and it might easily be one of my favorite Mario Party games from NDcube.

As someone who absolutely loved Superstars, here is a list of everything I disliked about Jamboree (compared to Superstars):
-Too slow paced: too many animations, turns take forever.
-The spaces are too far apart, meaning you have to open the map frequently only to see where you will land.
-At the junctions, they don't tell you which way to go to the star.
-If you play with a GameCube controller, you have to guess which button to press at minigames (they show you the Switch controller buttons)
-If you want to play the 20 player race online, you have to go to an unskipable tutorial first with CPU's
-When playing online, they don't tell you when a human player disconnects, making you believe you're playing when people instead of CPU's
-You can't use stickers as frequently: if a player congratulates you for getting a star, you have to wait until your turn's over to thank them
-the graphics and characters look lackluster: they look like Game Cube graphics
These are only things I found by myself. But wait until you learn that the 100 minigame count they advertised is reduced to somewhere around 50 (in Party Mode). I read this in Reddit and RUclips comments.
They chose quantity over quality, stuffing in bunch of game modes that will get little attention and will probably be empty in a matter of weeks or months.
I even had to check if Jamboree and Superstars were developed by the same people (they were)

      @mumbojumbo88 3 месяца назад

I can't believe we still don't have the option to fast forward/turn off most common animations. In superstars, 5 runs would take about 30 minutes so 15 rounds is about 1.5 hours. In jamboree, 15 rounds is 2 or even 2.5 hours depending on the map. Maybe 1/3 of that time is unnecessary animations my group and I have seen countless times and just want to skip. In the mall map, we can fast forward part of the escalator animation and nothing else. What a savings. Makes playing a session on a work night real questionable.
      Some additional gripes:
      - When you pick a direction to go at a junction, you don't get an indicator when there's a trap on your landing spot. This means more time spent looking at the map.
      - We still can't view the map when it's not your turn. At least let us see the map when our opponents are looking at it.
      - When the star moves or a buddy pops up, they still haven't added big highlights to the map showing all the player locations when the camera zooms out.
      - Most advantages for the player who initiates a buddy mini game are unoriginal (you get a few extra points to start). The DK bongo circle being bigger is an exception and gives a major advantage. Would've been nice to see more creativity.
      - Motion games don't allow use of a pro controller despite having a built-in gyro. I assume this is a liability thing because it's easier to accidentally throw a pro controller and doesn't have a strap attachment. As an adult with small hands, I find the pro controller comfortable to hold one-handed "vertically". Single joy cons in normal "horizontal" use is uncomfortable.
      - Reactions cover the user's stats on screen. If I'm trying to decide who to boo steal from and people are spamming reactions because they're bored waiting for their turn, I can't see who has more coin or stars.
      - "Creepy" dice is a lame name change. My group still calls it cursed.

Agreed with his game is way too slow. Jamboree mini games are too long should not even be option…just pass the character and take it. At the junction is does automatically point you in direction of the star though. You can tell human disconnects when they’re in fast mode. Still not helpful though. Could be more minigames too/mario party 3 board. But way too long

WHAT I LOVE: more items + more and bigger boards & more consequence!
WHAT I HATE: games feel long and not customizable enough should be able to do like 5 or 7 turns if it’s gonna be so long & they give out way to much coins! EVERY map we all have 50+ coins after turn 3/4 i’m not sure HOW but coins are just thrown out there they should up the price of items & stars or LOWER mini game coins wins to like 5 coins if you win because there’s plenty coin minigames & 2X coins minigames so it needs to be more balanced!

Superstars is way better, and I can’t quite explain why. It just is. I hate that they took away Toad giving out the stars, I hate how repetitive the mini games are, I don’t like the lack of options for online mode, the text scrolls too fast and I still don’t understand what an ally does because I can’t read the intro text…I also don’t like how boo is always there on certain boards and there’s no challenge about accrssing him. I’ve lost games before where I had three more stars than everyone because the people with zero stars had so many coins they kept stealing… that just isn’t fun.
