#NintendoSwitch #Nintendo #Switch2
Gotta say I like getting switch 2 news here. I get tired of the daily ‘big switch news’ videos other creators do.
Yeah, I like NL's more chill approach to covering Switch 2.
Personally, i like both. I do appreciate the more thorough, analytical style here though.
I love that they are adding gimmicks, the Nintendo way, but not losing what made the switch great.
I am all for trying something new, but I am glad there is no fear of a Wii-U repeat.
I think the biggest issue with the Wii U was more its lack of identity largely caused by their inability to market it or sell their gimmick well at all. It had everything the Wii could do, making it a worthy successor on paper, but if even Nintendo can't figure out what to do with it in regards to games then how the hell can they expect third parties to?
And considering the gamepad was largely used for HUDs (which were definitely convenient to be fair but not exactly something people are clamoring to buy a new console for) clearly few people had any idea what to do with it. Only now when its far too late are fans who hacked and modded it figuring out where its place would easily have fit back then in the industry to be successful if it just capitalized on it.
There not GIMMICKS 🎉
"I don't know how magnets work. No one does."

Bet the mouse mode is going to be one of those 'Switch 2 only' features in Metroid Prime 4.
Maybe even dual mouse mode.
dual mouse mode would feel more restrictive because the analog stick would just be very awkward to use in mouse mode and even more so for the d-pad or face buttons. Maybe some games can try to make use of it but it would make sense to just allow us to pick which side becomes the mouse.
Whatever the '1 2 switch' will be for the switch 2 I'm SURE they will have a 2 player mini game where both mice would work at the same time
A remake of Lemmings (back in the early 90s game) would be fun.
too bad sony owns it so it probably won't happen (although we got freedom wars and lego horizon so there maybe a chance)
@ErrrrkTheOdd I didn't know Sony owns the IP now.
We might never see a remake then. I doubt the suits higher up would ever green light a game that they probably never heard of and might be priced at $30 US.
@davidchan7860 they've owned the ip since they bought psygnosis i believe
The Joycons will probably have magnets too, meaning the top will be positive and the bottom negative, and the exact opposite on the Switch, this is done to prevent people from inserting the Joycons inverted or upsidedown. Positive attracts negative, but repeals positive :)
Yeah you can see it depicted in the diagram cause 上is up but 下 is down and you can the symbols are reversed based on orientation ^^
@thespeedyyoshi thanks for that, Yoshi!
7:41 - Magnetic flux has a 1/r^3 relationship with distance. So magnetic "stickyness" decreases exponentially as distance between two sources increases. But like to the power 3 exponentially, so even a steeper drop off than you might normally associate with exponential decrease.
Hello there Alex, and Felix. Speaking as an ex UK and European hi tech patent attorney... Figures or drawings help explain what you are claiming as novel and inventive over the prior art (or what's already known and published and including common general knowledge). It's the claims that matter, everything else in the document is providing subject matter that you may need to rely on later as you can't know all that has gone before at your filing date...(Patents are secret until published at 18 months after filling... Secret stuff can leak into the public domain etc). I think the mouse thing and magnets are some of the patented features they've chosen...
If you can actually detach the new pro controller in two, it would be so nice if you could attach them to the system for pro handheld mode!
Split pro controller would be genius to also become a first party “grip.” Nintendo saw how many of those Nyxi split controllers were sold.
Super Mario coloring game and Super Mario Maker 3 (3D) would be perfect games for the Switch 2 mouse-like Joy-cons: Let's a GO!
18:30 People forgot that Mario Artist Paint Studio lets you have four N64 mice connected at the same time for 4 player drawing.
Assuming the bleeding obvious here, but is it possible the C button is a toggle for control mode between mouse and standard?
Switch 1 Modes: TV mode, Handheld mode, Table-Top mode
Switch 2 Modes: Computer mode, TBA
Pc mode WITH s***y specs*. There...i fixed it for ya pal LMAO😅
Ooo what if it has an internet browser?
Like the 3DS had but better
Don't forget to wear your cotton gloves when you unpack the golden Switch 2.
World of goo 2, while using the touchscreen on the switch, does allow two inputs at a time. Using two mouses you could easily simulate that while the switch is docked. It's extremely helpful, if not necessary, for some of the speed challenges.
19:10 This patent is exactly the kind of control scheme I'd imagine Kid Icarus Uprising using in a port or remaster.
Or a new Star Fox trying to push and showcase new play styles like Zero did. (Probably the dual mouse concept, too)
@@1ideity ooh don't give me hope 🤯
20:00, the left hand's middle and ring fingers are right where the SL and SR buttons would be located, could those be used additionally during mouse mode play?
…huh. That’s a neat idea actually. Especially since those buttons would actually be comfortable to press now.
Interesting…
This is the MOUSE EXCITING video I've ever seen!
It wasn't just the DS3 that had the pressure sensitive buttons, it was also the DS2 before it, and while it was mostly abandoned with the DS4 it still stuck around and was used for the L2/R2 triggers, although with the DS5 it was completely abandoned I'm pretty sure. (Another fun little thing about the DS3 is that earlier models/releases of the controller used magnetic sensor sticks instead of graphite/wiper based ones which replaced them later on. Meaning that they were not initially prone to standard hardware stick-drift.)
The next Mario party with multiplayer mouse mode will go crazy imagine 8 player ice hockey it would be insane!
Hoping they stick with the idea of the Pro Controller being essentially Pro Joy-Cons. Switch 2 being bigger might make it possible + it would instantly solve a lot of people's complaints about Joy-Cons
Idk how I feel about mouse mode. A keyboard and mouse work great with a computer because I'm seating a desk, but for any video game console, I'm on the couch or in bed. The only time I'm at a desk with the switch is in handheld mode, but I'm not sure how well that would work in mouse mode.
I think it’ll be a lot more versatile than we think.
But if it isn’t that’s the best part about the switch.
It can switch ^w^
16:00 it is probably something that acts like a scroll wheel since it doesn't have one
If the pro controller splits in two could you attach both sides to the switch itself like the hori split pad?
23:30 It was from Linus Tech Tips, one of the staff members said the Switch Pro is a worse Xbox One Controller (which I disagree vehemently, the Switch Pro is heavier - which I prefer -, has GYRO - very important distinct feature -, the buttons have a larger travel distance and don't feel mushy like the XbONE controller, don't depend on AA batteries and last 80 hours on a full charge). The only advantage the Xbox One controller has over the Switch Pro are the analog triggers.
I think the magnets being inside the Switch is obvious so you can slide the Joycons on metal surfaces.
If there are games that require 2 mice, it will be much harder to emulate it.
I could see the mouse mode Joy-Con 1's being so that they can release 3/DS games on NSO. They're not necessarily gonna need the extra power of the Switch 2, so it makes sense to make them available to everyone. Unless there's going to be the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Plus.
But can you imagine flight controls via the dual mouse setup in a new star fox game????? Hooolllyyy I'm excited just by the concept
Star Fox Adventures! Here we come!
Silent Hill 2 and Bully used the analog face buttons on PlayStation 2. It was one thing that Bully on wii didn't handle well.
Metal Gear Solid 3 also used the pressure-sensitive face buttons.
They will be less likely to buy the S2 at first, but it would be good for Nintendo to keep S1 users buying games and eventually upgrade
Two mice would be good for a House of the Dead port
Nintendo better not be waffling with these mouse joycons
I know 1 game that uses 2 mouse. It is an old "date sim" from japan and it was a feature for... something. Don't judge me, I was just a lonely teenager.
C is probably a cast button
7:41 magnets, how do they work?
Ha ha, it's spin magic of course 😂
@@Jedbullet29 Houdini invented them.
Since both PlayStation and Xbox support Keyboard & Mouse there's already several 3rd party games that do (mostly strategy and FPS games). Nintendo adding mouse support by default without the need for external peripherals is an excellent idea that should benefit from the get go from games like these and incentivize devs to add more to the list.
No analog triggers is a bummer though.
Sorry Alex, but if your hot take is that you don't like the Wiimote, my hot take would be that without analog triggers, the Switch Pro Controller is indeed second to the Xbox Controler (I'll favor both against the PlayStation ones though).
Cope harder there not integrated into. Gyro 3d motion ready controllers with sticks and buttons all working together
How am I going to use the mouse mode in my living room, in my bedroom, on the bus or any other environment where there isn't a flat surface at elbow level?
The same way you use a mouse with a laptop in those situations: you don’t. You accept the fact that the situation you’re in isn’t great for using a mouse and use the trackpad (or joystick, in this case) instead.
Mouse mode means Wii virtual console?
I guess getting rid of the infared (can’t spell it) camera and giving us mouse mode instead is a cool change, I’m just wondering how they’ll actually use it for games and if it’ll be just as “well used” as the infared camera
Those pressure sensitive face buttons on the DS3 was a nightmare. If the game implemented it and you wanted to push all the way down . I personally pushing like a madman just to be sure I was pushing properly…
I thought it was the PS2 controller that had the pressure sensitive face buttons. Games like Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 used them.
@ from what I googled real quick it was on DS2 and DS3. I guess I never knew on DS2 and that is all the better.
@@MrPLleBOSS You didn't know on PS2 and I didn't know on PS3. Nice they both had it.
I see wii remote derangment syndrome has returned in the comments section
I fear how Nintendo is going to force in mouse controls in games that does not need it.
I always play docked with a pro controller...
Worst case scenario is that you need to have then at hand and switch between pro controller and "mouse"...
Long live mousey mode
Hope Zion is doing alright!
I did some videos recently.
I don’t get the excitement about being able to use a Joycon as a mouse. I’m quite sure being able to Bluetooth a real mouse is better? And I’m quite sure Switch 1 already does that.
i've always loved nintendo's creativity... but i don't get this. is it not clear that a normal mouse would function much better? so why does a joycon need to function as a mouse?
my preference would have been if nintendo brought back the single greatest controller innovation of the past 20 years, which was the IR pointer on the wii controller. gyro aiming is simply not as good and it would have been great if both joy con had IR pointers.
I don’t think Nintendo needed to patent a mouse sensor on the side of a controller sliced in two with magnetic attachments. Don’t think anyone’s gonna rip that off.
You would be surprised at what people will rip off.
It prevents third parties from making unlicensed joycons.
Left and right mouse not simply for right and the minority left handed (keyboard) users?
Yay Felix! 🎉🎉🎉
0:01 hello lovely p ( it never gets old it’s like a catchphrase or something.
Mouse mode.....
I'm not a splatoon fan but I guarantee that splatoon will use dual mice for a dual weilding weapon that you can aim independently
U guys r right it been8 years for the switch n the year of march of 2025 because the switch was released n the year of 2017 and we don't count the year of2017 the first year of the switch was 2018 for the anniversary for the first year release so it been at7 years the switch and the switch2 will last tell the year of 2034 or maybe longer tell the year of2035for the last year of the switch and switch2 tell the next handheld console n release tell the year of 2034 and I hope the switch2 will cost like around $400to$450 instead of$500 and the switch2 storage I want is256gb of storage so the switch2 can play more triple AAA games like GTA5OR GTA6and I hope the switch2 will last10 more years and I hope the battery life will last tell5to 8hours on the switch2of battery life and I hope the switch2 will last for10 years tell the year of2034 and I want is a Dragon ball daima Dlc for Dragon ball XENOVERSE2or Dragon ball XENOVERSE3 for the switch and a switch2 n2025or2026release for Dragon ball Daima dlc for Dragon ball XENOVERSE2 or Dragon ball XENOVERSE3for the switch and switch2and be the9year n March3 2026
hmm FIG 22 seems to show that nintendo finally found a way to make scrollfunction work on shoulderbuttons hmmm but thats no suprise because what is a mous without scrollwheel nothing
i wonder if you will be able to pair a normal mouse to switch 2... or if you HAVE TO use the joycon 🤔
Switch 1 already supports a mouse - see Game Builder Garage or some other 3rd party games. All it takes is for the dev to support the input type.
@@john_comi wait seriously? ill check that out
@@Chaos-aequilibratum yeah, it actually makes building games with a USB mouse so much easier. I may be wrong but I think Hypnospace also uses it. Hope with it built in on Switch 2, more games make use of it and let us use our own (Mario Maker 3 PLEASE!!)
Getting less and less excited for the switch 2
This sounds really bad imo.
Can listen to Alex all day
Is nintendo preparing for getting pc games or are they finally going to release exclusives to pc and allow thier games to be released off hardware?
I doubt it, but never say never.
First one to comment and like🎉
Who cares u r not getting anything from him
I hate his voice so much

@@EpicBladeTime who
wow... a gimmick that is going to be not used at all in games just like the joycons feature being like the wii remote never has it been touched at all in games and barely has any games that uses the joycons feature(forgot the name of it) and will just be there because its there haaa.... 😑... like the switch having a touch screen..
