Wild Ice Crappie fishing with hockey skates. The weather has been extremely mild this winter and we took advantage of the wild ice. Skates are the best way to cover ground. New Years crappie fishing. Crappies were in 9 - 12 ft of water on the edge of weeds. Thanks! We had a great time! Made it out again yesterday with my daughter. Caught a couple. Towed my double flip clam on skates- so sore today! My daughter whizzed in front of me and cheered me on the whole way.

Thanks! Was a fun time and a first for me. Well, been skating since I was 3 so I felt pretty good on them. I was more concerned about slipping and cutting my graph cord. That would not have been good! Hoping to get some more winter adventures in but pretty busy with my kids in hockey and basketball this winter!

Don’t think you can be from Minnesota and have at least a little hockey history! It was fun skating all over the lake! Fish tacos are awesome! My daughter is having fun learning to skate and play hockey.

Looks I may have to take a road trip to northern Minnesota for ice fishing Wisconsin lakes are not safe enough to walk across

There is decent ice on some lakes but it’s still sketchy on most. Maybe by the weekend we’ll have safe ice for most lakes to have foot travel in the northern part of the state
