Same here, my offer with a company that was going to pay great and a prestigous company was rescinded because I refused to sign non compete. They did not want me working for a competitor for 5 years. They were also unwilling to provide any severance or monetary compensation for that time. Also, I was by default going to pay them one million in liquidated damages for any violation regardless of how minor it was, and regardless whether they could prove it or not. According to them, me working for another company was a violation of their confidentiality agreement. It was the most ridiculous thing I read. Despite the offer, it took a lot for me to walk away from it and not sign it. But I was not going to be bought like that.
Didn't even come of a record heat wave and drought, before buildings and bridges started collapsing. And into infrastructure damage from Florida to Connecticut from Elsa flooding out subways and tearing stuff up along a large path. From crisis to crisis.
