🧰 Supplies you need:
1) Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) amzn.to/324RzKS
2) Acetone amzn.to/3oMVFRm
3) Paper Cup
4) Toothbrush
5) Steel wool, brush, shop towels or cloth: amzn.to/34NvRfQ

If you think you need a new CV Axle nut, they usually come with a new cv axle, however you can also purchase them separately if a must.

INSTRUCTIONS 📋:
Soak the axle nut preferably overnight with a half mixture of Automatic Transmission fluid also known as ATF and Acetone. Place a soaked steel wool, napkin or cloth on the axle nut, and place the wheel cover cap back on if possible.
Next grab a 32 mm socket (or your acceptable socket for your vehicle) and breaker bar and start loosening it. If it doesn't feel loose, you can apply another coat and/or heat it up with a torch to help break loose the rust.
Once the axle nut is off make sure the nut and its threads are still in great condition. If not then replace the axle nut with a new one (see supplies above), otherwise screw it back on the axle end by hand at first.
Then use a socket with a ratchet wrench to tighten it.
Finish torqueing it to 157 ft. lbs or whatever the manufacture states for your vehicles axle nut.

Thanks for this video. My usual cheap 189 ft lb impact wrench and penetrating oil couldn’t budge the passenger side axle nut like I did with the driver’s. Instead of acetone, I used paint thinner & Toyota transmission fluid. Used a rag and let it soak a few hours and it finally came off! Thanks so much! You saved me.

Good advice soaking that nut with steel wool! I have found that acetone and automatic transmission fluid work the best, even better than store-bought penetrating oil. Thanks!
Yep NP. btw this can be done on any nuts and bolts. I just did this to help loosen a stuck power steering hose Nut. Keep this method in mind for the future. 👍
Unfortunately, a mechanic didn't put a cotter pin in mine, the wheel wobbled and warped the washer that goes behind the nut out around the nut. I've ground about as much as I can reach away, but the nut is still wedged or frozen into place.
Yikes, might have to heat it to get it out. but its tricky. I used a carbide burr before to slowly shave away the threaded steam and nut. Of course then I had to replace the threaded stem & nut as well.
I got it into the shop, the tie rod ends and bearings are destroyed and if I'd gotten the nut off, it all would have fallen apart! Now having to order front end parts, this is for an antique, so no getting them off the shelves.@@FixCarYourself

Tricks
1. Remove hub bearing nuts Drop rotor and hub face down and rotor will pop off ..
2. Put jack stand under breaker bar when removing axle nut Also try wax.
3. If wheel bearing is stuck Use bolts and nuts push stud out...use stud hole... Don't worry about damaging the dust shield.
4. If rotor is stuck to bearing Just throw everything in the trash and buy new rotor .to go along with your new wheel bearing...

Can the tire come off without having to take out the axle nut?
Yes the wheel can come off by removing just the lug nuts and center cap.

Wow that axle nut must have been on their tight. By chance were you able to apply some lubrication to it 1st?
@@FixCarYourself it was over torque, i got it out lol the only thing that work was a impact gun and heat
Usually mechanics over torque nuts and bolts, and then if it ever has to be removed. It could be so badly stuck. That the bolt would have to be replaced. They need to follow the torque recommendations. But sadly they wont!
