How To Remove an Oven Door on a Cooker or Stove

- 🎥 It may be an old video, but it's packed with a fantastic amount of valuable content on removing an oven door and understanding how the hinges work! This tutorial will guide you on how to remove an oven cooker door, regardless of its type. We'll delve into four different types of doors:

🚪Type One: This door has a screw-locking mechanism on its hinge. To unlock, simply rotate the screw half a turn. Once the mechanism is unlocked, gently lift and wiggle the door until it comes off.
🚪Type Two: This door utilizes a one-part hinge system with a small catch, crafted for easy locking and removal. Firstly, remove any glass panels for safety ⚠️. Lock the hinges, slightly lift the door, and then slide the hinge away from the cooker frame.
🚪Type Three: Often dubbed as the pin-type hinge, this design is pretty straightforward. Use pins, nails, or Allen keys to secure the hinges. When both hinges are locked, lift the door and slide the hinge out from the oven or cooker chassis.
🚪Type Four: Widely used in European models, especially German-made ones, this design boasts an overlapping latch system where the latches fold back towards the glass. After locking both hinges, lift the door and pull it towards you. It will then detach from the oven or cooker chassis.

I Struggled for 2 days trying to re-fit the 2 winged door--- took one look at this tutorial, 30 seconds later -- the door was re-fitted !!! What a great help, and a very big thank you!!!!

This video was very helpful to me. while cleaning my oven which resembled to the 2nd oven shown in video i accidently locked it i wasnt aware of the locks till i saw the video while searching for help all over. i went back to oven placed the glass into the hinges n unlock the locks back to their place and Voilaa it worked for me :) thanks a lot again

Whoooooo! I did it!! I was able to fix a unattached side of an oven door for my mom... Many thanks and much appreciation.
Awesome; I had to retrofit a natural gas oven to LPG and the nozzles and regulator were no problem until they told me to remove the oven door to replace the bake/broiler nozzle under the oven bottom (floor); I started taking off all the screws that held the door together but not on the oven; thanks for making my Thanksgiving Day a success. The Turkey got done!!!

Thank you for this post ! I managed to take off the door of my top oven by accident just after xmas, while cleaning it , and haven't been able to work out how to get it back in. Mine has the hinges that you have shown in which you need to extend and place pins in them to keep them open. I didn't do this when I wedged it out , so I've been baffled on how to get it back in . I'm a single parent and can't afford a call out fee of £50 + , and I hate not being able to work out how to do things for myself . Within two minutes of finding your post, oven door is back in and a Sunday Roast is on the menu next week ! So many thanks again !

Brilliant tutorial. I was just about to start dismantling the whole front of the oven and then had a quick look on youtube to see if there was an easier way of doing the job. Lucky for me that I did, as saved me a whole lot of head scratching and time.
My oven uses the screw turn mechanism described in the first example in your video. I had taken the door off and cleaned it, but putting it back on took quite a bit of effort, getting the lower hinges in their brackets particularly. All done!

Very useful tutorial on how hinge mechanisms work. Fixed the oven door problem in two minutes flat.
Thanks very much, had the single type hinge where I had to put a pin in each hinge to keep them open so I could pull the door off. It was doing my head in until I watched your instructional video. Everyone else just seems to tackle to super easy hinge where you showed us every type of hinge. GREAT WORK.

Brilliant, was fiddling around for ages trying to get the door back on. This is an older hinge I would say. Got it back on easily once I knew I had to turn the screw on the upper hinge, it didn’t look like a screw that was the problem. thank you very much
