What Is Asexuality?

- What is asexuality? Glad you asked! Someone who is asexual or “Ace” doesn’t experience sexual attraction and/or doesn’t desire sexual contact but may be interested in a romantic relationship. Asexuality is a healthy sexual orientation, just like being gay or straight.

Sometimes people who are asexual identify as ‘ace’, and often they still date and have romantic and emotional relationships. Other people identify as aromantic, sometimes called ‘aro,’ which is when a person doesn’t have romantic feelings for other people and are likely not interested in dating.
What’s important to know is that people who are asexual or aromantic are not broken and don’t need to be fixed. Being ace or aro is just another sexual orientation, and it is totally normal, just like any other orientation. Remember, sexual orientation is a spectrum, and it can change as we grow and learn more about ourselves and the world around us.
I didn't come out of the closet; I came out of the deck. 'Cause that's where the aces are.
Great video! I may end up sending the link to people who don't understand me when I say I'm ace.
Haha, nice one!
I’m aromantic. Not asexual, but a few of my friends are. I love seeing acespec videos
Edit: I am asexual
Awesome! I’m also aro, not ace. Aspec vids are interesting to me lol, I need to learn more about myself and others!
That's AMAZING! Thanks for sharing this video with your friends.

As an ace person, this was an amazing explanation
I'm too an ace, a pilot ace!
@@HawkThunder907 if you don’t mind me asking, what’s a pilot ace? I tried googling it but found nothing.
@GreenBeanTM the Red Baron was a pilot ace for example.
I’m aroace, and this is amazing! So many people think that asexual means that you don’t have any sexual attraction, but it differs between everybody! I hope more people find this video.
I'm glad you liked it!
Just to clear one thing up, in the video you said (referring to asexual people) ‘they just don’t have a drive to be sexual in the way most people do’. I suppose this could be interpreted in different ways. Do you mean they don’t feel a drive to be sexual, as in a drive to be sexual with a specific person? Which is essentially saying they don’t experience sexual attraction, which would be correct (at least for asexual people, not everyone on the a-spec though). Or do you mean they simply just don’t have a drive to be sexual, which is the way I found it came across, because that would be incorrect. Asexual people do have a libido/a sex drive, they just don’t experience sexual attraction. Think about it this way, libido is a bit like hunger, as in you are not craving any specific food, you are just hungry in general. Sexual attraction on the other hand would be a craving for a specific food. In this analogy, hunger would be a general sex drive and craving a certain food would be feeling sexual attraction (which would be to a specific person). Though asexual people may have a drive to be sexual in general, they won’t feel a drive/attraction to be sexual with a specific person. I hope this clears things up a bit, it’s something people often get wrong about asexuality.
Hi Analyn! Your comment is very informative, and I hope our pinned comment provides more clarity!
Sending this to my mom so she'll hopefully understand me being ace
I'm aromatic and asexual and my mother just does not understand it
Hi Dakota, I'm sorry that they are not understanding you. You can try to share this link with them for more information. amaze.org/video/sexual-orientation-what-is-asexuality/
I'm an "Aroace" person that means I'm aromantic and asexual that means I don't want to fall in love and I don't like romantic things
Can you watch movies with love in them?
Grow up
@@Homophobic_racist_sexist what?
Me neither.
Thank you now I do believe I am an asexual and I'm okay with it. Thanks for doing this video. It's okay to have romantic feelings and not having sexual desires. But I do hope to find someone one day.
As an ace who hates chocolate, this was perfect for me 👌🏼

Also same 😂
I know I am very late, but could you guys do a video on demisexuality? I feel like a lot of people don't really understand me and I always have to explain.
I appreciate the attempt, but the definition conflates attraction with desire. Asexuality is an Orientation where the person experiences little to no SEXUAL ATTRACTION or desire for sexual contact. And the description that Asexual people still feel romantic attraction is a missed opportunity to give space to the large number of Asexual people who are also Aromantic. I appreciate the attempt to educate, but you have a very large platform and this conflating of attraction and desire is harmful.
Hi Aubri, thank you for your comment. I hope our pinned comment clears up any confusion. You are correct, attraction and desire are not the same.

I’m panace
Great video, thanks for sharing!
I don’t necessarily know if I’m asexual, but I do know that In relationships I am mainly about romance and have little desire for anything sexual. If I were to have a sexual desire for somebody, it would have to be with someone that I truly connect with and see a future with.
I'm demisexual.
hey, maybe you could talk about what to do after coming out to your parents? i came out for my mom about being transgender today. she was very quiet about it and i dont want we to pretend this never happenned, but i don't have an idea of how i'm going to talk about it with her. i know it takes time to accept, but i dont really know if she accepted me or not...
Hi Arlo, I'm sorry that you are experiencing this. It may take some time for your parents to be supportive. In the meantime, are there any other adults you could reach out to for comfort or support? If you need more support, check this video: ruclips.net/video/ITRdvGnplLU/видео.html
@@amazeorg also, thank you for sending this video!! i loved it!
You're Welcome 💜
The distinction between abstinence and asexual is really useful
practically no difference.
@@QWERTY-gp8fd Uh there is a tremendous difference.
@@normanreviewsgames698 there is none.
@@QWERTY-gp8fd Sure there is. Abstinence simply means that one is not partaking in sex. Asexual means that one does not feel sexual attraction.
@@normanreviewsgames698 so where is the difference? u are not having sex in both.
Hey , i like ur videos very much

Excellent, keep going ✌️
I use to think asexuals were in to the letter A
This is very poggers
I'm aroace and this video is awesome 👌
Beautiful video!

FINALLY!!!
Best explanation mam
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Im using this to explain what asexuality is and it explains it perfectly!
That's AMAZE-ing!
Now I know I am asexuele
You’re not normal
I'm a 12 year old teen this I'm also asexual
This is somewhat stupid. I find it a ridiculous analogy. Makes no sense.
This is so depressing to see the number over people actually believing they are asexual, humans are sexual we do not split to reproduce. Its ok to not have a strong sexual desire, stop feeling the need to make up labels to deal with your personal issues.
it's what ppl think they and what makes them comfortable you can't decide what they are or what they need to be and no need to support it just respect it .OK?
I genuinely am asexual. Cry about it
