    Watching this got me thinking. I'm turning 31 next week and drawing and painting has been a struggle for a few years now. I think back on high school/jr. high and how I was just drawing ALL THE TIME. The amount of content I created was staggering.
    And I realize, I was scribbling like this ALL THE TIME. This was it. My brain was always in drawing mode because I was scribbling random shapes and doodling on notebooks and worksheets. It was like a constant state of warming up between moments of working on homework/schoolwork, and then I would settle into drawing and actually be ready to draw.
    Thanks for this. I need to do this more. I think if I can even just focus on scribbling and doing these kinds of exercises for a few days it will help me get back into some kind of groove. Great video.

    • @MicahBuzanANIMATION
      @MicahBuzanANIMATION  3 года назад +8

      That's awesome, thanks for sharing all that! I'm turning 31 in a couple months myself. Yeah, I think so many problems with making art is more psychological than technical. It's like we have to get out of our own way and just make stuff without judging it. There's a time for refining and editing later on, but at the start of any project it's best to be loose and simply enjoy the process. Best of luck, I'm happy this vid could inspire you to get back into the groove.

    Thank you for making this video, it was very helpful for me. A lot of the other youtubes I've been watching just jump right in and expect the viewer to follow along and start drawing whatever it is that the video lesson is focused on for the day. I usually have a hard time keeping up with these tutorials because I've only been drawing for 3 days now and didn't know about doing warm-ups before I start trying to draw. This video did exactly what you said it should do. If I spend a little time getting used to drawing shapes and lines first I find it a lot easier to draw along with various daily lessons without falling behind because I'm overthinking every line on the page. I still really suck at everything but after warming up with these exercises I don't get hung up on how bad my drawings are and that allows me to focus on developing technique and improving my skills.

    Thank you for sharing this, its really usefull and Im certanly trying all of them. You have an amazing pencil control. The only thing that I missed greatly is that when you show your cintiq recordings, we dont get to see the mechanics of your arm and hand movements. I am an amateur and I feel that I can improve much more by getting to actually see how you move your arms (wrist/vs elbow vs shoulder movement) and handle your pencil, instead of deducing it.

      @logandecarme1217 4 года назад +1

      @@MicahBuzanANIMATION I really enjoyed your reaction to Akira but I think a more in depth look at how and what makes scenes in great animation really work. Things like technique, how you think they did it, shortcuts they probably took, color palette, etc. I also only animate frame by frame in photoshop cause I'm an animal, but I'm always looking for ways that I can keep a hand done look while making the process more efficient. The principal videos have been super helpful and maybe more advanced videos diving into more dynamic animation and how to effectively push perspective and space would be super cool!

    • @logandecarme1217
      @logandecarme1217 4 года назад +1

      My work tends to be very flat and fluid but I'd like to push my ability to create a believable space. A video on morphing / transitioning between forms would be unbelievably helpful to me!!

    • @logandecarme1217
      @logandecarme1217 4 года назад

      I'm not sure how much you can speak on this but the business side of art is seemingly not talked about, I think an honest opinion on this career path and maybe an in depth pricing guide for animation would be different but still extremely helpful for people trying to make illustration/animation a full time career

    Buy a roll of lining paper from where you get your wallpaper. You get masses of decent white paper for not much cash. Good for practicing.
    When drawing a straight line, it helps to put your (pencil) at the starting point, then look at where it is going to end and draw without moving your eyes.
