    Spare parts, you can never have enough spare parts! got a 71 Cutlass out of a little old lady's estate, She met me when I painted her husbands 65 Cutlass when I was 17 years old and decided she wanted me to have her 71 when she was gone! The car needed work and when she retired in 1985 she went on vacation and her son took the car to a cut rate shop and had it redone and she was furious! The car looked good and she couldnt' hardly drive anymore so the car sat in the garage where she could walk out and see it! In nice weather she would open the doors to the garage so she could see it while she cooked or did dishes! When she passed the whole family fought over it and it sat for over 20 years and they all wanted it but they didn't know how to make it run! Finally they called me and I gave the grandson a torch red 89 Grand Prix with a big Fiero wing on it for the Cutlass that had a nest so big under the hood that you couldn't see the engine and the glove box was home to many more mice! The car looked nice and I had it running and driving the same day ! First ''parts '' purchase was two more Cutlasses, one for the Rally wheels with period correct Kelly Super Charger tires and the rear bumper! It ran so I put a set of rusty Cragers on it and fixed some issues and sold it! The other car had perfect rocker mouldings without big screw holes in them! Then there was 2 more cutlasses with other mouldings and little parts that were wrong on my car! and so it went until I bought a whole car for the front license bracket I took the cars one at a time and sold the parts off of them and I did very wall selling them on line! and my car looked almost new with every part on it right until the substandard work started coming out! I sold those extra parts in every state in the union! Canada ,Mexico Sweden the UK and in Turkey! I now own an Ebay store and I'm a top seller and I still have all of the parts I could need for my cars they come in so fast! And I learned most of these old cars are worth ten times the amount in pieces than if you just sell the whole car!

    At 7:20 kids pay attention to the lost art of safety wiring head bolts! Done mainly to keep big piece's from becoming small busted piece's Before the Advent of thread locker and in some areas Indoor plumbing this was a very common and useful practice... Like I said.. pay close attention.. There will be a quiz on this material....

    08:24 I was taught and do even this today, never lube a tapered shaft. You want both tapered surfaces clean and dry. The taper is the thing that locks to two parts together.
    Do PBR's still come with aspirin taped to the side of the can ? Lol.

    • @HalfassKustoms
      @HalfassKustoms  4 года назад

      haha don't need aspirin if you don't drink to many of em.

    • @MichaelJWane
      @MichaelJWane 4 года назад

      True about the tapered fit. And you want FULL contact on the taper so I like to use valve lapping compound between the hub and axle taper. Rock it back and forth applying a little more compound each time until both surfaces show full contact. Then flush out all compound and your ready to rock!
