Thanks for video Like those quick fixes that should be done for safety and cheap insurance when you are out crussin. Like the drone footage with the roadster and corn fields shows enjoyment of life.
I'm glad you did the retainers, in doing the vid I'm sure there will be more people doing this. No doubt save someone some grief too! I'm surprised you acted so quickly to do the video, good work. It is a good tech tip that I was shown a while ago. The other thing to have are "wire wheel centre supports". They are also pretty simple. Without them the wire wheels can crack/split and lead to failure when running the juice brake and wire wheel combination. Love the channel, keep up the good work!
Very cool 😎 This is my kind of Hot Rod. Barrels of fun with no worries about putting a scratch on it. I have no desire for a 100 point car that I have to yell at kids not to touch it 🙄
I like how you paint the drum holders that you made so they don't rust but when you install them you can see the wheel wells sure could use some that love also. Enjoy your videos
I always use a bit of bathroom soap . Just hold it on the belt while it's running (the V part) & generally it solves the problem. As always Brent, love ya work Mate. Billy J.... OZ
Man that roadster is just bada$$ and that axel retainer mod was a cool trick to save your a$$ if that Ford powah breaks another axel and now it's time for the super charger to get put on now for sure. It won't take long for you to get it put on there and making some serious power 😁💪
I had to laugh the retainers look like they are the only painted parts on the car! A great looking car, I couldn't imagine if I had that here in Western Australia Driving from the bush(where I live) down to Perth just how many times the Cops would pick me up LOL They would walk up to the car with a red sticker (not to be driven) introducing themselves while putting it on the windscreen telling me to call a tow truck! You have such freedom of what you can drive over there. Tony from Western Australia
Brent: When the covid thing passes, please open a Halfass Kustoms fantasy camp and sign me up! You're an awesome craftsmen and I would love to hang with you in the shop and learn something instead of doing it my way (the hard way). Just don't enroll me in February!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for another great video.
A quick and easy way to get rid of squeaking fan belts is to let the motor run at idle then push a wax candle on the insides of the fan belt while it is running. the paraffin rubs off the candle and onto the fan belt yet remains "sticky" so that it still grips the pulleys. The squeak occurrs because the belt is glazed but its generally gone after a few RPM's.
I'd like to see just how effective those retainers are when the axles typically break right at the outside of the bearing. The best insurance is to take it apart & crack test the axle because the failure normally starts from an "aged" stress crack. Buy yourself a $20 crack test kit, throw a spring spreader together if you don't have one & dig in. No special skills required, just good ol hot rod dirt time.
on the fold axles there is a lip on the tube that the rear wheel bearing rides kinda hard to explain but it's like a floater kind of. The axle in my case before did break past the bearing but with this retainer i would safely be able to stop from highway speeds.
Did the axel break at the taper? My 36 five window was plaged with four broken axels back in the 60's and now it sits fifty years later and I learnd I can make axel retainers! keep up the good work!
So what kind of project is your kid working on. I got to say one thing he's got a damn good teacher. is any future endeavor in your kid and you building something together. That would be a cool video-in-one video I seen you had a couple motorcycle helmets do you do anything with the old motorcycles. Is that for like dirt bikes or snowmobiles.
I`m new to this so bear with me! Are those later "juice "drums you are running ?If so can you tell me why you don`t run the wire wheel support ? -asking cos I have an A and have wire wheels with Juice drums!
A friend had his axle stump slide out on a big downhill so his brake drum was made irrelevant and useless, handbrake useless, gears useless, no way at all to slow down, wheel moving outward... Only the spats are what saved him from disaster/death/rollover. Bet you never thought of rear wheel spats as a safety feature eh?
- - - What ye have there is a mixed up mess, ye say it's a 31, when it has a 30 grill shell, and the doors are 28, so what ye have is a home made scramble rod.......
I can almost get my head around this statement an hope it is not taken offensive as it is not meant in any way to be just that is murmurings in a old mans head. I know that Dan is a quick study and looks up to you a lot. I am thinking that you taught him the how to's on making two doors out of four doors. Just my thinking judging by the bone pile parts that you have done what ever has been done to one. When I watched Foose make a convertible out of a new mustang... I was impressed but that ain't saying much either. Back in my day the roof was part of the body structure and if it was a convertible they that car had a big " X" welded right into the frame to keep it from twisting an stuff. All the rules have changed in the last fifty plus years. Makes me look so stupid as ya can't draw what your thinking an so things just come out of me for some reason the wrong way. I have different pillars an stuff an it looks good in someones theory but won't haul the mail. I do try to say it right and if I re read what I wrote down then it probably wouldn't get so messed up. I really enjoy this channel an maybe shouldn't comment so much. I just get too excited
I didn't have much in the helping Dan with his 2 door swaps. That was in a time before I knew him haha. The foose thing I think you can cut the roof off anything and it'll work if you don't drive it much and it just gets parked haha
@@HalfassKustoms On the parked we agree an glad that you set me straight. I really like Dans work... kinda ambitious heading for 57 with a 57 an give that car away. Its a nice car... but boy howdy, that wiring looks so sad. I hope he gets lead on electric wipers as I think he lost wipers with the TBI set up. Runs better than ever and it was doomed as it was with bad oil pump. I never ever seen a chevy come back before with that happening

We always used a bar of soap on the belt. This was when I was a kid and I’m 71 so this was a few years ago.
That little Cabrio is really growing on me. Glad your improving on her for safety sake. Love the drone footage. Keep it coming.

Ingenious idea and simple to build thank you for sharing with us!

God I would love to have that model A, it's a sweet old hot rod from yester years back when they made cool cars ;-)

I enjoy watching you work. Cool skillful stuff.
I look forward to your videos, thanks for posting!
Cheap insurance, worth the effort!
everything you put your hands on - turns out bithcing beatyful. wow
Just one more thing to make it perfect - front hub caps. Thanks again for another video. 👍😎
yeah man, when I find em she'll get a set haha
Nice work! Beautiful countryside where you live there!
1:24 that’s quite the impressive bug collection you’ve got going there!
haha happens
Nice work. Learn something New. Thanks. #STAYSAFE
I have never seen this before but it makes sense 👍FINS UP 👍💯😎
I still want your energy secret , Brent , keep the vids coming , I'm tracking down a 31 ford coupe as we speak
haha there hard to find at least out this way.
Nicely done 👍

VERY VALUABLE TIP : a Lil PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE Is ALWAYS NICE, God Bless All.
King of Kool, driving the roadster with the top down out in the country side.

That car is one of the only things i want to see with its top on!
👍good job I wouldn't think about that

D&D needs a hand with a froze up Chrysler engine, bring a hammer party.
Cool car
You should patent those they're way better than the ones you could have bought! Like I said before you're quite the Craftsman I enjoy your videos.

yeah, although mine looked like an old break.
Just think, if I was forty years younger, had a workshop and lived in the States I could have one of those.😉
Fast fix Brent!

Too cool ,I like it!
I'd think you would probably have a good chance of snapping that axle again when you supercharge it. Do you already have a supercharger?
yeah, well I have to pull it from the donor yet haha, but the usual failure point is the key way in the axle that usually brakes.
You talk about going to your day job, what would that be?
Cool car❤️
Good job
Sure is a keeper

Good Idea.
at last a paved road
I imagine if you start getting excessive bearing play it will alert you to that as well
Sorry for bugging you again. Having trouble finding fender welt in Canada any suggestions?
Thanks
no sorry I have no idea, if your in a pinch you could try say garage door bottom rubber the flat type and cut it in half I think would work the same.
It seems to me that you follow the same motto I do yeah it's cheap but I'm cheaper
More I want to do this but I don't want to wait 2 weeks for stuff to come in haha

Yeah there's nothing like going down the road and looking over and your wheel is passing you
👍
So yeah
No Pablo?
Why did you paint them lol ??????
