We need to get them to realize some Digimon are massive, and also functional vehicles. Cannonbeemon literally transports other Digimon inside it.
It's also partly based on the GP03 from Gundam 0083, which has missile containers in a similar location.
That makes it a lot more acceptable. Cuz I was like “Why the fuck did they need to make it so busy?” But that shows it’s functional and not just extra for the sake of being extra.
When I first saw Canonbeemon it reminded me of a Gundam fortress-level mobile armor RX-78 GPO 3 Dendrobium

Bit of a point of note that CannonBeemon is huge, essentially a flying aircraft carrier. And the aircraft is other FanBeemon line members. It made an appearance in Adventure 2020, where it hosted a swarm of Waspmon. It also has a manga-only alternate form, where the cannon is replaced by a runway.
Two things about FanFunFinBeemon:
1.-) The new evolution line makes sense when you think about it, it goes: Mook Bee > Worker Bee > Soldier Bee > Queen Bee. The design do clash, though.
2.-) Queenbeemon is based heavily on Queenbee the Hymenopteroid, an enemy Pseudoroid from Mega Man ZX Advent.

Also, I love the idea behind it. The Royal Base has been "mysterious" for so long. The only info we had on it (from an in world perspective) are the warriors, the defenders of the hive. Waspmon, Cannonbeemon and Tigervespamon are their military and it makes sense that this is all we know about them if they are a secretive group. Now we have a deeper understanding of the inner workings of the hive, which reveals the workers, royal guard and the queen herself.
It would make a lot more sense (including the names) to swap the Ultimates between the two lines.

Forgebeemon - Cannonbeemon - Queenbeemon
The new digimon line can interchange with the old line just so to be clear. This is Digimon.

the "covert honey arms" thing is a pun - "Secret" is "Himitsu" and "Honey" is "Mitsu" so the word is "himitsu" with the second kanji swapped out. QueenBeemon has one too - it's her fan, but doesn't actually do much aside from her waving it to direct her army.

Something unmentioned is that Funbeemon’s 88 Call (pronounced Hachi Hachi Call) is a play on words. Hachi is one way of pronouncing the number 8 in Japanese. It is also the Japanese term for (I believe specifically) the biological order bees, wasps, etc belong to; if not the term for bees, wasps, etc themselves
Another fun lore thing is that all of these Digimon reside in the “aerial, covert honey base Royal Base” (it’s the hive).
Queenbeemon is obviously the leader of the group and the rest perform various duties of worker bees.
Funbeemon collects pollen (read: data) as construction supplies for the base; Forgebeemon constructs the base; Waspmon and Cannonbeemon defend the base; Vespamon is the “Toyal Guard”defending key facilities of the base and the queen; Tiger Vespamon is the covert honey corps “Royal Commando” defending the base and queen through covert ops
I like how instead of realizing that fan/funbeemon is it supposed to be a drone/worker bee, forgeBeemon is a worker/builder bee, vespamon is a warrior bee, and queenbeemon is a queen bee, which are all different categories in a hive, your reasoning is that the welder bee decides to mush a bunch of knight bees together into a death throne for the booby bee.

I do genuinely believe the intention with the new Digimon wasn't to make one new line but rather to split the existing line in half and fill out each branch. That's why half of them are named after bees while the other half are wasps. Plus, the obvious Vespamon -> TigerVespamon despite one being old and one being new.
Also, on the topic of them taking so long to come out with a base Vespamon, that's actually happened quite a bit lately. SkullBaluchimon came out in 2003, but Baluchimon didn't come out till 2020. It's the exact same situation with MetalPiranimon, who also came out in 2003, when Piranimon didn't come out until, again, 2020.

having not actually seen anything about digimon liberator, i'd imagine one of the major reasons why the new line feels kinda disjointed is that it's not truly a _line,_ at least not in the way that digimon lines are designed in the various anime. the digimon card game plays evolution as loose as the vpets, if not looser, so the fact that the partner digimon have proper _lines_ at all feels more like a way to give their decks a central aesthetic rather than something they're beholden to. all this to say, the impression i get from the new line is that it's meant to be capable of smoothly integrating with the past line, with stuff like waspmon evolving into vespamon evolving to tiger vespamon, forgebeemon evolving into cannonbeemon evolving into queenbeemon ( imagine cannonbeemon's entire body reconfiguring into queenbeemon's whole throne thing ), and so on and so on
which like. makes a lot of sense when i just say the names in those sequences, huh
We had a short discussion after recording and our conclusion was that the two lines are designed to create a productive colony rather than a proper straight line of evolution
@@MitchFromFBS yeah that too, there's at least a bit of a trend for these more detailed but still loose v-pet-esque lines to play off the branching evolution concept by giving the various stages distinct roles. the d-brigade is another example, albeit i can't remember if brigadramon or chaosmon came up in that episode
it's one of those things that makes so much sense that it just kinda makes older stuff feel kinda phoned-in in retrospect, since you have these entire ecosystems of digimon slowly going through natural evolution and the significance of a tentomon evolving into kabuterimon instead of kuwagamon is that ... kabuterimon is usually nicer and _maybe_ typically stronger than kuwagamon? agumon evolving into greymon instead of tyranomon means ... it trained harder as a kid and instead of being a firebreathing carnivorous dinosaur, it's a _stronger_ carnivorous dinosaur with even hotter fire breath? now that's what i call _specialization_

What is great is the 2nd line has been made to fill in gaps and inconsistencies of the original line, and they can be used interchangeably.
I'm convinced the actual lines were meant to be Forgebeemon>Cannonbeemon>Queenbeemon and Waspmon>Vespamon>Tigervespamon

the good news is its Digimon so its all interchangeable any digimon from either line probably will get their choice of either digimon of the next level to digivolve into.
I would swap forge and wasp because a) Queenbeemon's throne looks similar to Waspmon and b) you have lasers in one line and melee in the other.

@Skebaivis if the naming convention and what role they fulfill was important, we wouldn't have gotten the new forms the way we did. Worker bee to soldier wasp to queen bee. On top of that, using your reasoning, Queenbeemon wouldn't be part of either line since you want worker bee to worker bee and soldier wasp to soldier wasp.
"8" sounds like "Bee" in japanese (they're both Hachi). Actually, 99 sounds like the word for "Emergency."
Also forgebeemon's face under the welding mask is pretty cute.
It's been said in these comments already but bares repeating the "rocket thrusters" on cannonbeemons back are actually hangers for other members of the beemon family. Cannonbee is the largest of the family and is designed after aircraft carriers. It has missiles in some of those honeycombs but for the most part that mob rolls up and starts unleashibg the drones.

Canonbeemon works honestly. It's metal empire, and definitely looks like something you'd see in Zoids.
26:44 This is literally the Dendrobium from Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory with a bee motif. Bandai owns Gundam so it isn't a surprise. So the Dendrobium is piloted by a Gundam which docks in the same position as where the bee is right above the cannon. That Gundam which is called Stamen can just exit from that position and fight separately. Gundam 0083 has a lot of plant references in naming things. You would think that the hexagonal design was inspired by Fan(Fun)beemon's line but it was already designed that way with triangles in Gundam to store weapons.

if I remember correctly, the place where all this bees live is called the Royal Base, a MEGAGIGANTONORMUS place that is in constant expantion, the fact that they're all androids is because the queen made them and for that they have an extreme loyalty to her
Kekekekekeke, sweet! And I did mean that pun! Looks like we are looking at the new Digimon that have been added to the Funbeemon line.
You see, the Funbeemon/Fanbeemon (I will be using Funbeemon) line debuted in a Japanese only Vpet from 2003 alongside Dorumon and Ryudamon. In fact, the entire line of Waspmon, Cannonbeemon and TigerVespamon came from that Vpet. It wasn’t until 2006 that it showed up in anything for the West in a manga called Digimon Next. Heck, it wasn’t until the 2020 reboot of the Digimon Adventures series that it showed up in animation despite the fact that the whole line had entries to the Digimon Reference Book in 2010.
Despite what I explained, the Funbeemon line has been very popular amongst the fanbase. TigerVespamon is a cool ass Mega, with Power Ranger, but especially Kamen Rider vibes. Due to sharing this aspect with Stingmon, TigerVespamon became an unofficial Mega to Stingmon for many fans. Still, their entries have always hinted at something greater. You see, the entire line revolves around a giant mechanical beehive known as the Royal Base. Not much was known about it other than it was defended by Waspmon and Cannonbeemon. As such, when these new forms were introduced, fans got so excited!
Kekekeke I rambled on for quite a long time, so let's see if there is anything to share about our favorite Buzzy Buddies.
Fun/Fanbeemon: Yeah… sooo what happened was that Fun/Fan’s sound uses the same symbols in Japanese Katakana. As such, they had a coinflip for consistency and sadly they never got actually consistent. It seems Funbeemon is what Bandai has settled on.
ForgeBeemon: You see in context of the above with all this mechanical shit going on with the Beemon line, this is a clever idea. Their “Royal Base” is always expanding, so it would make sense that worker bees in this hive would have welding equipment. They are building a metal hive.
Note 1: This evolution continues on my personal headcanon that the evolutions are basically mini megazords piloted by Funbeemon to work in the hive. When you think about it with that in mind, the large forms make much more sense.
Note 2: 88 Call is a Japanese Pun. Bee in Japanese is Hachi, the same as the number eight. Bees also move in a figure 8 pattern to communicate, so the move is funnily enough supposed to sound like Bee Bee Call in Japanese.
Vespamon: So, this dood is quite cool. TigerVespamon always felt a bit awkward coming from Cannonbeemon. As such, Vespamon is a nice transitional form. If we go by my Note 1, It would seem that a Forgebeemon got a promotion to a new mech suit and is given the task Royal Guard. We can note that either Waspmon or ForgeBeemon can become a Vespamon similar to how they can also become a CannonBeemon. A lot of fans prefer the line Waspmon > Vespamon (warriors) and ForgeBeemon > CannonBeemon (utility).
Note 3: Bee Phalanx… please tell me ya’ll taking the piss and know what a phalanx is. If ya looked it up… Vespamon doing a 300 is now something I wanna see.
QueenBeemon: According to lore, she is the designer of the Royal Base. So she is a hot scientist lady cosplaying a bee… and I can get into that. Despite the Royal Base being so secretive, Queenbeemon has a very showy personality and is adored by her subjects, the other members of the line. She even takes any chance she gets to act like a celebrity.
Note 4: Ya see what I am getting at with QueenBeemon coming from CannonBeemon? CannonBeemon is shown to be massive. In the anime, it is bigger than Mothra in the Monsterverse and that giant mech can easily be turned into the Royal Throne she uses as her vehicular weapon.
Waspmon: Everything I said about ForgeBeemon stands with Waspmon. Waspmon is the basic soldier unit and is SUPER extra. And Mitch, you noticed something about the design and even the anime team agrees with you. The aforementioned Digimon 2020 episode about CannonBeemon has the storyline of the kids saving FunBeemon from being captured by Waspmon and being forcefully roboticized to evolve into Waspmon.
Note 5: Good trolling Kyle there! The soul left his body…
CannonBeemon: The only thing I have to say is that the other comments have said that CannonBeemon is like the aircraft carrier of the line. Waspmon and TigerVespamon can be deployed from the glass covered honeycomb. It stores a literal fuckton of machines, maintenance equipment, supplies and an army of Waspmon to be deployed to defend the base at any moment. The yellow covered honeycombs are the missile launchers.
Note 6: Took a look at the models and artwork, it really just has a shield on one side and not the other.
TigerVespamon: A fun thing is that the twin laser swords are called the Royal Meister. They are classified as “Covert Honey Arms” which in Japanese is another pun. In Japanese it is “Secret Weapon” which sounds like the word honey. They had to try and make it cooler in English because the pun doesn’t cross the language barrier. Now… the reason why it has 3 attacks… is due to our old friend, RANDOM MMOS. This culprit is Digimon Masters Online, a Korean MMO. The Mega level Digimon in that game have 3 skills while the lower forms have 2. They had to invent one for TigerVespamon, so they just used his weapon as an attack name.
Everyone keeps talking about Frieren but I've not been in the head space to watch a good show since it came out 😭

Random Trivia: TigerVespamon is most likely based upon "Kamen Rider The Bee" along with the scarf being just a reference to the Tokusatsu series in general.
And I believe the Queen is based upon "Bee Women" a villain in the original series.
Nah Kabuto actually came after TigerVespamon debuted. Also Queen is based on Doronjo from Yatterman visually speaking if you look at the masks.

So...the reason that Funbeemon's forms are so wacky and all over the place and mechanical heavy is because, for some reason, by default- Bee Digimon have the X-Antibody infused in them. And the X-Antibody's whole design philosophy is just making shit look cooler/overcomplicated, even by Digimon standards.
I knew Waspmon's artstyle looked familiar!

I find it mildly amusing that TigerVespamon is inspired by Kamen Rider, and then we got a bee based kamen rider afterwards with Kabuto's Kamen Rider TheBee.
Also while I do like QueenBeemon's vibe (the official entry gives it massive failgirl oujosama vibes) and design (the Doronjo from Yatterman reference with the mask in order to contrast TigerVespamon's Kamen Rider is a cute idea). I wish it was less human, since the entire line after the rookie is supposed to be cyborg bees. I wish they had not given it a human face, but I assume it's to make the design more able to emote.

It’s not welder into knight. It’s meant to branch and fill in gaps. Basically FanBeemon -> ForgeBeemon -> CannonBeemon -> QueenBeemon and FanBeemon -> Waspmon -> Vespamon -> TigerVespamon
Personal opinion, I actually really like bees being used in animation and games because they make yellow and black lines look good, some of the bigger bees and hornets actually look like they have armour on and when they fly nearby they sound like helicopters. Which irl are not great to be around but in animation can make a cool monster concept

Firstly I want to swap the ultimate stage on both lines, a bee line and wasp line (vespa wasps and tiger wasps are real creatures)
Secondly, after the rookie both lines are mech pilots (metal empire/ electric/ machine) rather than enhanced bees (nature spirits/ electric/ bug)
Third a hornet line to fill out the third type of flying yellow striped girls (cause all the boys die right after mating)
Just came to explain the circular part on the right side of the cannonbeemons image is a radar dome akin to metal gear rex
I like to think, the new Evolution line is actually meant to fill in the gaps that the original line has and make them more consistent. So its now:
Fanbeemon > ForgeBeemon > CnnnonBeemon > QueenBeemon
and
Fanbeemon > Waspmon > Vespamon > TigerVespamon

Vespamon is the best design for me, btw i love both old and new lines.

And as someone who both loves fanbeemon, and is Australian.
I am scared.
I'll just comment that my favorite thing that came from this wonderful Digimon Evolution Line & Group, is a video made by a Latin American RUclipsr making a funny exaggerated scenario of how the Royal Base is practically better than Royal Knights to the point of the RK being destroyed.
Which makes sense considering that in current works, if you use a Royal Knight, you either destroy them and make them useless, or also destroy any semblance of consistency.

Seriosuly, Fanbeemon is so cute. One of my faves. Waspmon and Cannonbeemon are pretty rad too. Tigervespmon is a bit bulky on the top. Don't like it as much. Don't know about anything Digimon Liberator. Eager to learn- what the heck am I looking at? What did they do in that evolution?
I think I think Build-a-Bee is cool. Vespamon is definitely rad. The design being more in line with Tigervespamon makes me like the mega more. I don't know why Queenbeemon caught me off-guard. She's literally in the thumbnail.
I think I like seeing Tigervespamon more in the artwork. His 3D models aren't that appealing to me in the games I've played.
I like to beelieve that the intention is for the lines to now go Forgebeemon to Cannonbeemon to Queenbeemon and Waspmon to Vespamon to TigerVespamon
