    so both Condorman and Spectreman are basically the cooler versions of Captain Planet that's neat!

      Agreed!! Great fun these series were!!
      I hope he does a Spectreman history video. He was a HUGE part of my childhood, and I totally feel he does not get the recognition he deserves. Sure....he technically is a "needle in a haystack", but I feel he stands out more simply because of the monsters and action. He was HUGE in the US, and at one time, moreso than Ultraman

    I just discovered your channel and I absolutely love your content. I’m a big fan of all the classic Japanese style Superheroes. Condorman was really cool. Back in the mid to late 80s, I remember watching Condorman, Cyber Cops, and Super Sentai when I would visit my relatives in France. The Japanese Henshin Heroes were very popular in France and Italy. As a young child I was totally captivated by these colorful foreign Superheroes and I always thought I’d see more of them whenever we returned back to the states. Unfortunately, Super Sentai wouldn’t become popular in the U.S. until Haim Saban created the Power Rangers for American audiences. It wasn’t until years later that I was finally able to rewatch Condorman the Symbol of Justice when online Japanese DVD’s were made available. There’s just something really fun about these shows and characters. I’d love for you to do a video on the live action 1970s Japanese Spiderman tv series. That’s another great Henshin/Super Sentai style show. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Cheers!

      Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with tokusatsu heroes! I share your sentiment that these are just really fun to watch shows and characters. The Japanese Spider-Man TV series is something I've been sitting on for a while as I would like to do it justice and go more in-depth than some of the other videos on the channel. It will definitely be covered, but most likely several months from now once I have a better handle on how I want to approach as it was such a critical show that had a lasting impact on the genre as a whole. Thank you for your support and kind words! I'll continue to do what I can to put the spotlight on these classic heroes!😀

      @@JapanHero And then Toei proceeds to use the design as a basis for the female villain general of the next Sentai series. Lol

    I'm Brazilian and during the dictatorship, grew up to things such as Spectreman. Spectreman had some messages that did stick and make me look back. The "villain" wants to save the planet. The "hero", wants to protect corporations and capitalism and business as usual. There is that precious episode of Karas walking drunk around Tokyo. My mind might be tricking me, but I remember an episode where Spectreman has a talk to Dr Gori and comes back thinking who the hero is, and has to be rebooted by his owners into being able to get into action again, which makes me think of the Christmas in No Man's Land. Spectreman for me, is deeper than most people think.

    These videos are greatly appreciated! Back in 1990, a short lived magazine called "Markalite" which specialized in Japanese SF had a comprehensive list of all the superhero shows up to that point. I gained some familiarity with these shows but the only ones I had seen on TV were ULTRAMAN, (my favorite(, SECTREMAN, and THE SPACE GIANTS. Also, I commend you for not using foul language like so many others do with their narrations.

    • @JapanHero
      @JapanHero  Год назад +1

      Thank you very much! You sent me back in time with that reference! Markalite, alongside Ultra Fan, Sentai magazine and other publications + fanzines that were put together by dedicated fans in eras where information and media on these shows were scarce are so much to look back on. Funnily enough, I started working on an outline for a video on these old publications a couple of months ago, juts waiting to have a proper set up to photograph and record them. So thank you for bumping the idea!
      Also, thanks for your feedback on the foul language thing. I don't have anything against foul language, but from the beginning of this channel I thought it was important to pay homage to these great programs and characters in a respectful way that shows appreciation to the people who worked on them.

      As I recall King Monster's forces are defeated and he runs out of monsters to send against Condorman. So he fights the titular hero 1:1, and manages to survive and remain a potential threat. The series comes to a very sudden end in episode 24, leaving the door open for a follow up season, but it never happened.
