These are my favorite tokusatsu shows from the 70s. What is your favorite tokusatsu ?
Condorman - Coming to the aid of a dragon condor and its unhatched egg, Ishin Mitsuya is killed, but is brought back to life when the egg hatches and the the baby merges with his body. Although he gains the power to transform into Condorman from this, he loses all memory of his life before the accident.
Inazuman F - Inazuman is, in reality, young college student Goro Watari (渡 五郎 Watari Gorō?), a mutant. He lost his mother as a child and had other dark moments in his childhood (he had a childhood girlfriend named Teresa who was taken away by an American soldier during the US occupation of Japan). But when the Neo-Human Empire (新人類帝国 Shinjinrui Teikoku?) begins its attacks on mankind with its Fantom Army foot soldiers and mutated monsters, he puts his psionic powers to the test
Fireman - Fireman (ファイヤーマン Faiyāman?), known as Magma Man in some markets, is a Japanese tokusatsu television series about a superhero, the title character, who fights kaiju and other villains. Produced by Tsuburaya Productions, the show was broadcast on Nippon Television from January 7 to July 31, 1973, with a total of 30 episodes. This was also one of several shows Tsuburaya did to celebrate the company's 10th Anniversary (the other two being Ultraman Taro and Jumborg Ace).
Chojin Bibyun - Choujin Bibyun (超神ビビューン Chojin Bibyun?) is a classic tokusatsu series created by Shotaro Ishinomori and Toei. The series consists of 36 episodes which is a joint production of NET (now TV Asahi), and aired in Japan starting on July 6, 1976 until March 29, 1977 This series is also a sequel of Akumaizer 3.
Azteckaiser - Pro-Wres no Hoshi Aztecaser (プロレスの星 アステカイザー Puroresu no Hoshi Asutekaizā?, officially romanized as Aztecaser) also known as Pro-Wrestling Star Aztekaiser is a Japanese pro-wrestling-themed tokusatsu/anime superhero television series produced by Tsuburaya Productions, and created by Go Nagai and Ken Ishikawa. Nagai and Ishikawa created three manga series, simply named Aztecaser (アステカイザー Asutekaizā?), published in different magazines by Shogakukan. None of them are related between them or the TV show. They were compiled in a single tankōbon in 1978 (Futabasha), 1986 (Asahi Sonorama) and 2001 (Futabasha).

I can't believe there are so many wild Japanese superheroes back in the seventies, I guess the 70s was the Golden Age of tokusatsu Heroes
I was expecting this to be a boring slideshow of pictures, perhaps a Henshin montage of more recognized characters at the outside. But a collection of fight scenes from some of the more obscure heroes? This video is awesome!

The ones from the '70s were definitely some of the weirdest. What they lacked in budget and special effects they made up for in action scenes.
Fireman was aired on ABS CBN 2 back in 1991 here in the Philippines. But they change the name Magma Man expect Fireman. I wish ABS CBN will reboot their dubbing on Fireman
Faiyaman (Magmaman when aired on the phils on the 90's) was the only thing ive watched in this collection.. cool though

The 70s might even be the golden age of Tokusatsu shows, beacuse it introduced Kamen Rider and Super Sentai to the tv.
Those are some great choices! I also really love the middle of the decade; '74 to '76 was maybe the craziest and most inspired run of one-off characters ever with your picks PLUS Kyodain, Kagestar, Mach Baron, Kamen Rider Stronger and Denjin Zaboga! Not to mention the amazing Goranger, which wasn't a franchise YET! I also love "Barom 1" and the "minisode" heroes: "Red, Green, and God-Man" from a few years earlier. It was a great period of raw imagination before Bandai took over!
Barom 1?!! Though I haven't watched the entire series, that show still cracks me up to this day. The opening theme song with it's "burororo-burororo-BURORORO!!!" line... The fat kid and the little kid having to hold hands shouting "Barom Cross!" while staring at each other with very serious facial expressions in order to transform into / summon / materialize into Barom 1... Barom 1's incessant shouting of "BAROM!!!"... that goofy giant fist finisher move... Good stuff!

truly tokusatsu was at it's best during the 70s.
I personally think the 80s was but I still love the campiness of 70s tokusatsu.
The 70s was maybe less set in it's ways. There were more original superheroes, both giant and human-sized, in the 70's but the 80's gave us the Space Sheriffs and then the metal hero / rescue shows that followed.
Also, the early part of the decade appropriately ramped up the cocaine-level of editing and pace! It's such a shame that 1983's Sentai Dynaman is so scarce on RUclips in its original form because that pilot episode is as INSANE as tokusatsu TV ever got, to this day!
Pretty much every shot was a zoom, and no shot lasts longer than a few seconds, and then there's just shitloads of dynamite or stunts going off every other shot! And there's absolutely no CGI back then...it's just nicotine-addicted stunt men on wires in a rock quarry with explosions and zoom lenses! And it's SO much better than anything we have today! So, even though I prefer the 70's, I have a deep appreciation for what the 80's brought with enormous passion!
Hey, don't be bashing over the newer tokusatsu. If anything, I believe tokusatsu today has gotten better.
I still think modern shows have great roots and originality. Just watched Kamen Rider Ex-Aid and enjoyed it very much, but while the 1970's owed an enormous debt to the 1960's in terms of what Ultraman or Giant Robot developed (plus a national folklore that runs through all these programs to this day).
Japan's modern shows are a little more corrupted by Bandai toy sales. I'm a fan of more, not less, so in our modern era, where we're pretty much down to only 2 Toei franchises, Sentai and Rider, I really appreciate the occasional oddball "Tomica Fire Rescue" show or, especially in the last decade, the local hero phenomenon, which gave us so many new prefecture-specific amateur heroes!
Tokusatsu is doing really great now but it was much more free-form and creative in the 1970's. And then the production was improved greatly in the '80's. The 90's was a little stagnant by comparison and the 2000's are better but have this toy influence that I think confuses the final product. Although it can be done well and Kamen Rider Gaim was a great example!

Although impressive, this list is extremely subjective. I would say that Kikaida, Akumaizer 3, kamen riders V-1, V-2, and V-3, Inazuman Flash (Which we both agree upon), Battle fever J, and Japanese Spider-Man were my favorites.
Didn't know about some of these. I'll definitely need to check some of these out.

I'm talking about on number 4 Azteckaiser. I like with live action and Anime fight scene. I hope Shout Factory will get this classic Tokusasu series. But sadly Azteckaiser was never been aired in Philippines :-( If Azteckaiser will aired in the Philippine television the Filipinos will be wow for this live action and Anime fight scene

Lol. It seems like every other tokusatsu series from the '70s seemed were either an Ultraman spin-off or an Ultraman knock-off: You had Megaloman, Mirrorman, Iron King, Jumborg Ace, Zone Fighter, etc.
