My guess is that it kind of gets normalized. Sure you'd catch yourself at moments and reflect on the insanity. But in the grind of the production. Having a scene like "Our hero bursts in, accuses a dog for being an imposter of the families missing child and promptly yeets the dog out the window" ... When that is the norm... I guess it could be easier to keep a straight face when it's not covered by a mask.

Sometimes they involve colorful costumed heroes. The monsters are normally regular costumes and makeup with them being displayed as gigantic via miniature set pieces. The three biggest examples of Tokusatsu franchises are Kamen Rider, Ultraman and Super Sentai (which is more popularly adapted in the US as Power Rangers)
Another similar yet criminally underrated series worth checking out is _Guyver._ It's like a gritty & more darker alternative take on the japanese superhero/tokusatsu genre with dramatic & tragic twist. Storyline, themes & characters are also solid too imo

Tokusetsu Shows were often influenced by Psychedelia to a degree,so some of the weirdness here is likely just playing to the audiance. The later stuff also sometimes just being camp or self satire. Tokusetsu was muchmore self aware than the more commonly seen japanese medium of today (anime).

What I love about Kamen Rider Kabuto is how serious it is most of the time, only for it to throw that tone out of the window at the most random ass times for something like we see at 0:55 xD

Tokusatsu is a goldmine of this kind of stuff, so it shouldn't be too hard to find more clips.
Yeah but it's not actually of any value. Don't let the views fool you into thinking an accomplishment has occurred. It's just a clip compilation, and indeed the majority of stuff that "blows up" doesn't actually require any crafting talent if you know what I mean.
