- This first episode of the series is titled "Founder's Day Folly" and originally aired on September 13, 1969 in the United States.
This series of "the Smokey Bear Show" a 2d traditional cel-animated television cartoon show that aired 51 episodes in 1969.
This is not to be confused with their "Ani-magic" stop model animation Smokey the Bear special. Smokey and his animal pals had adventures and learned about friendships while keeping an eye out for forest fires.
The series was created by the great Rankin Bass studio, creator of Rudolph and other holiday films.
Some of Toei's early work for America, alongside the 1966 'King Kong' anime series also airing on ABC.
Thank you for posting these Smokey the Bear episodes OK Fire Museum, great job! Brings back some fond childhood memories from 1969. 😊. Fourth comment, yay! 🎉
Carl Banas was the voice over actor for Mr. Gabby; he also did the voice over work for the cartoon character Giles who was the chef in the cartoon Rocket Robin Hood.
“Get me out of here!” A common lament from Tennessee Tuxedo in that cartoon. 6:11
The Smokey Bear Show is an American-Japanese animated television series that aired on ABC's Saturday morning schedule, produced by Rankin/Bass Productions
Smokey the Bear, an American icon, who helps teach us all how to avoid forest fires, and................................................... Toei did all the animation for this, at the same time doing animation for Gegege Kitaro!
Also, a lot of beatnik references in this.
Smokey the bear, my favorite anime, I can't believe I can say this xD
A very unsafe way to use a portable ladder, Mr. Gabby is standing on the top rung. 5:02
He needs a longer portable ladder where he can work from the third rung and no higher than that.
Yes Kimberley-Z that is an excellent evaluation of the unsafe portable ladder usage and methods of abatement of the hazard, well done!
Also Mr. Gabby had to use one hand to climb the portable ladder and the other one to hold the paint can and the brush which is unsafe! 😮
That portable ladder was made of wood, those were very popular back in 1969. It looks like a 6 foot ladder.
From Rankin/Bass production, there are no Paul Frees, June Foray, Ira Stadlen and Don Messick, only Jackson Weaver, Billie Mae Richards, Carl Banas and Paul Soles.
Paul Soles and Carl Banas were voice over actors for the Rocket Robin Hood cartoons too!
That's because the voice recording for this show was done in Canada.
Jackson Weaver was my grandpa. It’s crazy hearing all this for the first time.
@@blake8927 Really?
@@TCgamerboy2002 so many great voice actors (and animators) came from Canada.
Love it! I allways liked cartoon heros like smokey and mcgruff
I really like this episode
Nothing like explosions to liven up a 1960s cartoon! 😅 5:52 6:44
September 1969? That the same month and year that Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! was born
I looked up a smokey joke from the simpsons, and now youtube is recommending this video to me
“Mom! Can we play outside away from the bear”
@@haileyshannon7548 I love that part lol
I was 8 years old.
I remember the cartoon. I also know the truth behind the campaign and how it would have been better to show the stewardship of the indigenous people in combatting the dangers of wildfire. They were the first to use controlled burns to prevent and combat wildfire.
I'm old.
Smokey daddy I love youuuu!!!!❤❤❤❤❤

It’s cheaper

Too bad about this campaign. Instead you could have leveraged indigenous knowledge about forest stewardship and prevented a lot of damage.
yep!!
It’s never too late to give up hope for a better past. While I agree with you, there are a lot more useful things we can do than criticize a 55-year-old child’s cartoon. Thanks for crapping up a moment of nostalgia with your politics. You are actually working against your cause.
Yea like running herds of Buffalo and other livestock off cliffs only to rot. The natives were just as destructive to the ecosystem as any other humans. This belief that natives were more environmentally friendly was made up in the 60s.
0:55 when the mandala people say it's always just been "smokey bear"
