      Anybody that has to do the stone off is not going to win the competition. It takes too much out of the contestants and the next day they don't have a chance to win.

      @@georgespalding7640 how is that true at all? Sure they have to do an extra event and exert more than the contestants who got to skip straight to the finals. But they are also getting a rest day tomorrow and they are gonna recover.

      @@georgespalding7640 I don't think so, 2 of the 3 favorites for tittle went into stone off, Tom and Brian, the 3rd for me is Oleskii, the podium 'll be in thos 3 to me, Trey can pull some points but in the first 3 there is the level

    So glad that Tom, Luke and Brian were all in different groups and made the finals. Happy to see fellow Canadian Mitch Hooper absolutely kicking ass.

      True, Brian was by half a point though, he did great, could easily have been 1st place if just a single thing had gone slightly different. It's a good sign that he didn't need to chase for third place or anything.
      Biggest surprise is Mateusz.

      @@DutchDread not so surprised about Mateusz...his last bunch of competitions it looks like he hasn't gotten his groove back since his triceps and lat injuries, perhaps he's being over cautious now.

      @@robertdieder4178 I mean Matuesz just got 2nd place at the Arnold where he won 3 events. He hurt his knee on the stone throw though which affecting his performance here. He’s so injury prone

      Yes! Injuries or illness during the heats had kept him out in previous years. I think 7th would be an excellent finish for him this year

      Pavlo Kordiyaka recently won Europe's Strongest Man, beating Novikov by some margin.. And he just won a group with Tom Stoltman and Bobby Thompson in it.
      Not sure the events in the final suit him as well as those in the heats, but he deserves consideration.

      @@markheywood8236 Pavlo was going all out to win the group. Tom was just doing little as possible to get second and save energy. Ase wins stones versus anyone. Watch how his performance totally flips in the finals. Pavlo will not even finish in the top 6. Tom will win the full thing again for 3 in a row. But here you are making Pavlo out to be Superman. Tom is too experienced to be wasting energy going flat out to win the group.

      Depends where you live. In the UK they are on at Christmas. If in the US then the wait isn't as long. Every country is different. There are lots of clips on World's Strongest Man's socials, and check out all the strongmen's social media.

    I'm curious who the oldest winner of WSM was? I tried searching online, not an easy thing to find an answer to.
    I know Mark Felix has been on the podium at an incredible age, but I'm wondering about top dog.
    Brian Shaw winning at 41, seems like a long shot but would be very impressive.

      Tom did much better than Luke though. There’s a spreadsheet that tracked all the scores across all groups. Tom did the 3rd best while Luke was 15th out of 30

      @@sethticer5108 But Novikov, Kordiyaka and Hooper won the groups they were in. And Tom has a huge disadvantage, he quickly loses confidence if he makes some early mistakes. And going into the finals, Tom is going to feel the pressure. My prediction is that Tom has to get some results early, or he bombs the rest of the events.

I wouldn’t pick Tom to win it all this time, but just going off your original statement, he will surely score higher than Luke barring injury. Either way, I’m excited to see what happens!

    I really got interested in the strongman competitions a few years ago. Then I realized that they all must be using terrifying amounts of steroids and now this sport is so meh to me. I would really want to see a 100% clean competition, just to see what are the natural strength limits of a genetically gifted man, who just eats right and lifts weights, but I guess that's naive of me.

      You would struggle to find anyone at the top of any sport not using some sort of enhancement, for strength, endurance, healing. So your choice is either watch sport or not, up to you.

Most people that say that Brian's grp was weak are just people that think the compony want him to win his 5th title for good ratings ROFL , he has to face the finals still rofl which they don't understand lol it's not over lol .
