eric cartman What are you trying to say? i answered to a comment which basically said that any tone would sound shit in these circumstances, but i still thought that the tone is shit, not the recording quality. i didn't even mention his skills and you come at me like i had said that he is terrible.
The tapping was nice, needed improving on the tone and to the stuff slower. The faster parts are just messy. But he was 13 so by now he must be a lot better xD
Good for him - he's awesome - I was lucky enough as a keyboard player at 14 to have a 13 year old guitar genius who was into Malmsteen, still Jam with him to this day over 30 years later.
lol couldnt the teacher have turned on the amp before he gave the Eddie Van Halen speech. i was laughing when they just stood there awkwardly till the amp warmded up
This kid is fantastic and really deserves the credit due..... Anyone happen to notice how long it's been since we had some truly talented people create stuff like Eddie and all the others back in the day? Call me old and fucked- I just don't think in 25 years kids will be doing Justin Bieber songs in front of their music class. Love it
Everyone stop making fun of this kid, he obviously shows real talent and with hard work he could be very very good. For him being only 13 years old it was really good
I couldn't get past the music teacher. He secretly stole the show that night with his "trend-setting" hair style... The Skullet. A very rare combination of nothing on top and free-flowing golden locks water falling from the back. Impressive. No doubt.
hehe Music Teacher was funny umm, yeah guys, this is one of those amplifiers that takes time to warm up it has cylinders in the back hehe.... Cylinders. yeah right ummm.... TRANSISTORS, it has TRANSISTOR TUBES dude , not Cylinders hence the name TRANS TUBE AMP hence Transistors Amplify hence this is an amplifier that Uses Transistor Tube Technology hence they are Transistors that are used to Amplify the sound not cylinders
Martin Kuliza although they are not cylinders, they are also not transistor tubes, just tubes or valves, also, TransTube is Peavey Tech, not fender, TransTube is transistor technology(meaning solid state) that uses MOSFETs to emulate the sound of an overdriven valve
Mr. Señor i agree they are not cylinders they are transistors so.. to strip away guitar tech talk, they are transistors. now, i admit, i've never used Peavey other than a casual play in the guitar shop, i was always a Marshall kind of guy and Marshall called them Trans Tubes but regardless of what the guitar tech talk term is teh guitar plugs into the amplifier the amplifer amplifies the sound via way of the transistor basic electronics fundamentals i'm sure you'll agree with me on this. be cool
Martin Kuliza Marshall never called them TransTubes, ever, that has and will always be a Peavey Trademark A tube amp is once again, not a transistor amp, if he's talking about cylinders that need to warm up he's talking about valves, not transistors, valve amps need to warm up, transistor amps do not, they are not the same thing, a transistor amp is a circuit board, a valve amp uses valves to amplify sound, polar opposites
Mr. Señor ok, fair enough i'll look into that, but what i remember is, when i was buying Marshall Amps (technically speaking) i suppose i rememberd it, because thats what the sales reps said but, there is no question that i got told by Brash's city store Reps and Anthony's Music in Town hall and a few other stores, that when we talking about Marshall amps they definitely siad they were Trans tubes, now. maybe the sales dude, had it the wrong way around and i picked up false info.. fair enough but regarding transistors Transistors require time to warm up that's been common knowledge since transistors were invented and that's what i was referring to
Yep, transistors don't require any warm up, they'll sound exactly the same in a freezing room as they will in a hot room after being used for hours, a valve amp in a freezing room can take 15-20 minutes to get the tubes hot enough to use Valve amps require a lot of maintenance, which is why a marshall transistor head can go from being a $400 amp at its release to a $100 amp a few years later, vs a tube head that costs $2000 and maintains its value
He did great! I can tell he rushed the first part because he was feeling nervous. But still awesome! I play it around Eddie's pace maybe a little faster at the end
Excellent playing for 13. For the guy who said," Um he skipped a lot of notes"... the intro says 'in the style of Eddie Van Halen'. I've been playing for 30+ years and I remember when Eruption first came out in '78... the kid did fine.
love all this... the ambience of experience in a middle school perfectly captured at many levels best by a cell phone. Thank you to a cool ass music teacher and skilled 13 yr old shredder who brings Van Halen to the attention of contemporary and up coming society ... well done kid, you show me you got a chance in this world. Keep up the seeking, sharing your talent, good work. peace.
This is why we need to support music programs in school. They do what they can with the equipment they get donated which is admirable. This performance was excellent but he was fighting against low budget instruments so the sound suffered.
the only part that was bearable in the song was the tapping section, and even then it sounded like someone scratching their nails on a chalk board. i love van halen but you can't just go screw up "eruption" like that.
Woah!! That teacher made sure someobody heard that! What an amazing clean rendition.Kid is defintiely not run-of-the-mill.I hope he makes it his career. Can you IMAGINE how amazing he'll be by the time he gets to his 20s! OMGGGG
kitty susca this was actually pretty bad, he could have played it clearly if he would have slowed it down a bit, that thing he did where he pushed on his neck is one of the easiest ways to break a guitar
and you clearly have no idea what i'm talking about, or the fact that I wasn't saying his playing was bad, I was just pointing out how he is fucking up bad.
The amp is Fender "Tube" amp. I couldn't tell which Model of Fender Tube amp ... Fender makes quite a few models of Tube amps! The "Cylinders" as he called them are Glass Tubes... just like the TV's had back in the 50"s and 60's! I use to have an Old Ampeg Tube amp back in the early 70's! When he said ..." The amp takes about 30 seconds or so to warm up! " ... which is correct but one thing he didn't mention is there is a "Stand by " switch in the back that allows the player to turn the amp on and flip the switch to "Standby " which allows the Tubes to warm up and stay warmed up. Then when the player is ready ... he turns the "Standby " switch in the "Off" position and that allows the sound to come out of the speakers. The best thing about a Tube amp is the "Hotter" the Tubes get ... the amp gets louder and you get that "Overdrive" distortion effect... without a distortion effect pedal!
Pete Thorn has a some good instructional videos on how to play Eruption. I haven't seen a Hondo for a long time. My first guitar was a cheapy too. I've got a Charvel San Dimas now among others. This wasn't the greatest but a good start.
I want to say this to all those people who gave it a dislike. At age 13, besides playing with your tonka trucks and matchbox cars, what else were you able to do.
I said his tone was bad. Never commented about his playing ability, because that's not something worth criticizing for a 13 year old. Although I could definitely play this better if you want to go that route.
it's a fender amp, not to mention it's in a gym, the worst place to get a good sound loll but yeah seems like the classic too much gain n scooped mids he will learn eventually to dial better tone. we were all at this stage once, I admit it lol
Gah quit your bitchin, probably can play it better. Fact is its a kid with a amp that sounds just damn fine. Uppity people man, appreciate some damn talent from the youth who still listen to real music, this generation listens to music so "terrible" you don't know.
Its so annoying how everyone on RUclips can talk crap, but none of them offer to post their own playing. Its because they cant play. Whether its spot on or not, thats not thepoint. The point is he had the guts to post it no matter how it sounds. For 13, he's got the dynamics, and he has the desire to play.
he's 13 guys, give the kid some respect... how many of you were at that level at that age?, yes he's nervous, and yes he's trying to impress by playing fast the wrong way, but hey, it's still young!
I want to have a relationship as strong as this guitars neck
fuck, yes.
This kid is such a boss he doesn't even need a whammy bar, he just bends his guitar!
whats a whammy bar
@Sznxn what?
@@quackquack7537 a tremolo bar

Music teacher's hair is trying to sneak off behind him.
best comment on this video
He has a Russian hairstyle. It's all Russian to the back of his head.
He is just really forward thinking.
Why does the teacher look like the bad guy from green lantern?
Lol
LOL
Chevy your teacher is a fat trevor from GTA 5 with longer hair.
ya lol
Sindri Páll Benediktsson he looks like the guy in the painting from ghostbusters2
How much reverb do you want?
Hall: *yes*
Wow. That was the best "no tremolo" job I've ever seen. Nicely done. This was in 2009. The kid's probably really tearing it up now.
The older dude looks like he would work at the local 7-11.....
Ha-ha
0:58 that tone tho
1:07 rip guitar
Hewparu Why rip? Have you never seen someone doing this before?
Maraka Gindler men it's really hurt's the neck of the guitar.
it's really hurt's grammer and not when one has a device placed in their guitar such as a trust rod.
"truss rod", dipshit
i got your trust rod right here kid
Where the fuck are the mids...
thats one original comment.... ive never heard someone preform with their mids all the way down...
+Jordan i think its just the school gym that is fucking with the sound...
That kid isn't thirteen

Pretty much
That is more or less the strat, yes
From 1:32 onwards the guitar teacher was thinking about all his life choices that led him to this terrifying moment

likes van halen, buys a les paul rip off, buys fender reverb amp.
Jordan Hey. This kid who is now 18 years old and plays a shit ton better just made a cover with me. We did Jump. Check it out.

ok audiophile with a capital P
The teacher looks like the mechanic in the junkyard in the Harold and Kumar movie Part 1.
He just does something that comes up in his mind exept for the tapping part.
At the beginning he looked tense, he was nervous knees weaks and he's arms looked heavy theres vomit on his tshirt already, moms spaghetti
haha, love how the teacher/conductor is leaning up against the amp like "yeah, this here is the good sh*t"
Brilliant I saw Van Harlem in 1978 at Southampton England they opened with this they blew us all away well done young man

A lot of people now associate Eruption with the extended live version, the one from Live without a net 1986, because of the internet

When the quiet kid start playing the guitar (amazing performance by the way, everything you played was just fantastic very good job keep this up)

0:41 hahaha YES!!! we've all felt that.
Thanks mom.
AWESOME ♡
I liked very much. I couldn't see what brand Les Paul guitar he had. Guild or Gibson ?
wishing this young man the best - he just about nailed it :) QC
Crank it up, Professer!
A smile wouldn't hurt
I think you did an amazing job. youre going to go somewhere... just keep playing how you play
Lmao 0:43 he was like "Stahp mom"

good playing awful tone

It's a lot more impress because he doesn't have a whammy bar on the guitar so it's a lot more of a struggle I'd think but still great performance!
