This 3 note per string scale lets you fly across the fretboard easily and without learning awkward to finger shapes. This is about as easy as this scale gets!
LEARN A SIMPLE PATTERN AND REPEAT IT TO GET AMAZING RESULTS
EXCELLENT LESSON..
I HAVE WATCHED THIS VIDEO REPEATEDLY.
I AM NOT A FAN OF YNGWIE J. MAMSTEEN..
BUT.,I AM HUGE FAN OF PHRYGIAN MODE...ESPECIALLY PUT IN A FLAMENCO GUITAR CONTEXT..
Very cool. This will be fun. Thank you.
Great lesson. You're are a very good teacher. Thanks
I never thought of doing this, jeez. I'm going to have fun trying this out later. I've always played it differently but this really makes sense. Thank you sir, great lesson :)
Good lesson
Great stuff! Thanks!
So this is a hexatonic scale repeated 6 frets apart, with the second position using the inverse of the first position, (1/3/4 instead of 1/2/4)
nice one
If I play A harmonic minor in the key of D, that would be phyrygian dominant correct since A is the 5th of D correct?
In D harmonic minor A is the Phrygian.
A harmonic minor... E phrygian dominant
D harmonic minor.. A phrygian dominant
correct?
@@leonbrownmusic thanks, I worded that weird
If the open string g is diminish what key am I in.
That Yingway Woundstring guy is a beast on guitar. But only Chet Atkins could play Dixie and and Yankee Doodle Dandy on guitar at the same time.
People think modes are so hard but its literally just starting on a different note of the scale and staying in that scale.
if I play A Harmonic minor that would be E Phrygian dominant..
if I play D Harmonic minor that would be A Phrygian dominant.. correct?
Yes
In the first pattern you ditch g# and that is not the 3rd?!
And g# is the characteristic note of a harmonic minor. So if you ditch it, there is no harmonic minor character left, right? Can you explain this??
Isn't this the diminished scale?
No.
Think about it, half step, whole step, moving one fret up the neck for each higher string
@@roberics6720 Still no. Eb dim is Eb E F# G A Bb C Db. I am showing you D# E F#A B C. I am showing you a hexatonic pattern that is all the notes of E Harmonic minor without the flat 3rd. Watch the video again.
@@leonbrownmusic You're right. I always assumed Yngwie played the diminished descending scale in the beginning of the solo to I'll See the Light Tonight. But I guess he played the scale you're showing!
