    FYI, a receiver is an integrated amp with an AM/FM tuner built in, that's what denotes it as a receiver... it receives AM/FM signals due to having a tuner on board.

    I have a question. while plugging in the speakers themselves, to take advance of all the power, would you plug a few to the receiver (preamp) and a few to the amp? or plug em all to the dedicated amp?

    • @OldtradesReviews
      @OldtradesReviews  7 месяцев назад

      You would typically use the amp for the largest or more power hungry speakers and the receiver for small ones

    Thank you for explaining. Sir. If I understood you. I would say, if I have to use the 12volts option to power the main amp, then, I do not need to plug in its original power cord to the AC power outlet. I'm I, right? The 12-volt only is enough. Right?
    Secondly, to transfer sound from the preamp to the main amp All you need to do is, connect preamp out to the main amp in the selected input source, right?

    Good video but I was hoping you would talk about speaker connection. You would connect speakers to the amp instead of leaving them connected to the integrated? Also, Is there a way to connect a tube pre-amp to an integrated receiver? I have a Yamaha RXA780 and wanted to see if it would be possible to add a Schiit Freya+ into it instead of having to buy an amp.

    • @OldtradesReviews
      @OldtradesReviews  3 года назад +2

      Hi, Thanks for watching. The speakers always connect to the AMP. As the amp will power the speakers. The Yamaha would function as a front speaker preamp out in that case.... as I se from the pictures online. The freya + is a preamp...which means it has NO built in amps. In that case you would purchase a separate amp of good quality to connect it to.

    • @fabiocunha264

      @@OldtradesReviews Thanks for the reply. Yes... I was afraid my assumption was true. I was hoping that I could get away with just investing on a Freya+ and connecting to my integrated somehow. My plan now will be to get the Freya+ and Vidar to connect to a speaker switch to them connect to my Klipsch RP8000F. I think the speaker switch might be the way to go because I want to keep my Yamaha receiver for my TV, AppleTV, etc... connected to the same speakers. You have won a subscriber here!

    • @OldtradesReviews
      @OldtradesReviews  3 года назад +1

      I appreciate the sub. thanks for watching. Based on the Yamahas 95 watts I dont think the Vidar is a good move because you will probably feel like its not much of a difference. Going from the 95 watts I would suggest maybe just buying a new receiver in the 125 x2 or more range. Or adding a amp that is 150watts or more x 2 ...to the freya. To notice a power difference.

    • @fabiocunha264
      @fabiocunha264 3 года назад +2

      @@OldtradesReviews didn't think about that. I feel like I get enough power from the Yamaha, but then again, I don't know how these speakers would sound with more power. The Vidar just seems affordable and I like the other Schiit products I have. I would be of course open to find a more powerful amp around the price of the Vidar. Need to research more, but hey, great back and forth!

      Look the Parasound 2126 its 150 watts fxo.co/Cilg I made video of it. Typically speakers sound better when they are fed wattage from the manufactures higher part of the suggested range. Of course like with any amp, the tonal quality has to match your tastes and speakers.

No jobbie jargon, straight into it and to the point. I’m new to all this world of AV , Dolby , HDR etc Ive just found out that I needed a specific HDMI cable (2..1 with eARC) to get real Atmos. It’s a slow enough learning process without my old head having to deal with learning a whole new language. hi.. power amp to stereo receiver question.. when hooking up a power amp to a receiver and assume the receiver has preamp/amp in/out connections and there are no AV requirements, just audio. Can you hook up a large amp to the smallest capable receiver? in otherwords if the ext power amp 'replaces' the receivers amp, then the size of the receiver amp shouldnt matter right?
    hope this made sense. thanks!

    Could you make a video that shows you how to test the "pre-amp" output of a subwoofer plate amp? There are many amplifiers floating around online that range from 25 watt to 2500 watt and they all require a specific voltage input from a pre-amp board. If people knew how to measure the output of their "subwoofer plate pre-amp" because they blew the power amp part. It would be a huge video if you could teach that in a simplistic way. I realize it's not that simple, but it wouldn't be hard to give the basics.

    • @momar678

      Yes, the amp only gets a signal from the receiver and sends it to the speakers, so you control the sound parameters as per normal with the receiver (this is from experience not expertise so my jargon may be way off)

      For RCA you will go from Source (T.V, DVD, computer, recored player, ect.) RCA output to preamp input / then preamp RCA output to your receiver and/or amplifier RCA input. From there if your reciver/amp has pre out for a active subwoofer not a passive you cn use that pre out to feed another amp of you're choice and if that amp offers pre out than keep it going I would just worry about you 12v trigger after more than a 2nd daisy chain. Then you're gonna want to use relay powered by a separate power supply and have that turn on 3 or more daisy chain 12v triggers or you can burn out your gear pulling more current than it's designed for. Also you risk getting noise and hissing through daisy chains especially if the audio gear are on different breakers and/or outlets like the receiver, T.V, Amplifier, ect. aren't on the same breaker linked to the outlets all the devices are plugged in but it can also occur if they are on the me breaker for similar or different reasons. But I found out if you take a wire and strip it at both end and link one to the RCA negative terminal outtermetal contact on one or all of them depending. I take the spare wire and make a hook shape and I loop it around the RCA maleconnector and hook it around the outside metal and plug it in so that the wire is held on the RCA terminals outter contact and held firmly. Then the other end to the negative trigger on the recieiver/amplifier and that fixed just about ever hiss issues ive ever had aside from a few ground lops that needed filters on the power lines, RCA,, and remote wires.

    I understand that I've to buy a 12 volt cable. But my doubts are complicated. For almost 60 years old, I use ever 4 speakers for my home Stereo Receivers. I've Yamaha R-S700, plus the "new" Yamahas n-r602 and r-n803 (five of them), and a Pioneer sx-1980 (but to work with it I have to heat it for 10 minutes to work full with it). So, I've decided to go on with Yamaha r-s700 (very good power, and don't need a stereo amplifier, because the JBL S-312 are all in 8 ohms). Ever with 4 of it (4 tower speakers ever), and Stereo Ever. What called my attention, when I read four (yes, 4 times) the new Yamaha Stereo Receivers rn-602 and r-n803 is that I have no way to plug or to hook up a Stereo Amplifier to any one.
    I don't have any interesting about Music Cast, Spotfy, Alexa, cellular...
    The only things I wanted and want: bass and treeble controls, Loudness control, and to plug my (for example) Yamaha r-n603 to a Stereo Amplifier (like the one you have -- Parasound, but the New Classic 2250 v.2), and 4 (four) speakers, like the way I do with my Yamaha R-N700 (I don't need an amplifier, but I put 4 speakers working). The new Yamahas don't show how to connect a stereo amplifier to its receivers. If I use the "trick" of 12 volts cable, I'll be able to hear the 4 speakers working very well, or I would buy 2 (two) Stereo Parasound to do the "trick" to move sound music to my new Yamahas? What I want is a stereo amplifier to increase de sound volume, but my Yamaha Stereo Receiver to adjust my bass, treble and Loudness control with 4 Tower Speakers playing all together. And don't want "technology", neither cellphone to control the media...
    I think to trade all my "new" Yamahas Stereo Receiver and buy 5 more Yamaha R-S700 (it sounds almost the same as my Pioneer sx-1980, only lacking only 2 degrees of bass, maximum), and sell or trade my Yamaha ns-777 (6 ohms is very weird from me). I only use 8 ohms for all things. Congratulations for your explanation.

      All I can say is if you have it connected to your subwoofer pre out as I do, mine is clearly marked.Check your speaker configuration on the receiver slash tv screen , make sure it matches what you have going on.Then check to see if its doing anything on the test tones,my height channels for example won't do anything if my configuration doesn't match,so I have to configure them correctly before I can use "Accu EQ" or anything or they do nothing..Make sure you have the sub and mains on, if you see that option anywhere along the way.

      Hey how did you get on with that? I have the SR5015 and I have a couple of Marantz integrated amps , and 3 Marantz mono MA500s. I don’t have any experience in pre outs etc and don’t want to fry anything

    How about the setting on the AV receiver. I’m using BI amp right now and planning to get Emotiva soon? Please advise thanks.

    Nicely Done.
    I was wondering if the pre amp might help me from not riding the volume knob on my Denon receiver
    while watching action movies with a lot of sound effects ?
    When dialogue volume is set to a comfortable listening levels it then is very uncomfortable to hear sound effects :(
    or maybe there is a setting on the receiver to cap the db levels ?
    Thanks in advance.

      It's called a compresser. It squashes the volume on loud passages. Idk if ur processor has it and if it doesn't...your TV may have the setting. Idk if it sends the signal out like that or only works when played throu TV speakers

    Got my marantz 7055, am trying to connect 3 channels initially. Can you advice what settings are to be done on denon to acheive this.

      Always check the Manuel first. to see which speakers and the configuration the receiver allows

      @@OldtradesReviews I figured I need to use 11.1 channel for pre out to be enabled. I connected front stage to amp. It shows floor as 5 channel and sb, height 2 channel, Dolby sp 2 channel, pre out front. My question is if I also connect the surround to amp will it get the power. Since preout is showing front.
      Please advice

      Im not quite sure I understand because I cant see the settings. If you are going from 9 channels to 11 then it would have to be set to 11. check the instructions to see which preout should be connected for the extra 2 channels

    Ok quick question. If I have two receivers can I bridge them together from pre outs on one to analog in inputs on the other one for front and left channel. Would that work properly?

      @@OldtradesReviews to have more power going to the front channel speakers and use the main receiver just for sub, surround, and rear speakers. I did without and it sounds pretty nice so far so I think I'll be okay without it. Thanks for the response!

      @@OldtradesReviews actually it didnt work as i thought it would. When playing loud music for a long time the receiver gets really hot and it turns off. It's fine for movies but not for music, I had to put a fan by it to keep it from turning off.
