@@EverydayMan ok so I took my IPhone with the head phone adapter and rca at the other end used a stereo equalizer and hooked it up, it play but the signal is weak, the phone volume is almost half way but the amp starts reading the signal, it gets loud but not punchy so I tried a mini pre amp phono input which boost my signal strength and gave me the punch but it sounds muddy and it starts clipping at about halfway
Something I've never quite understood about adding an amplifier - my stereo receiver is a 100-watt output unit, and if I put the volume up past 3 or 4 on the dial, it's so loud my walls shake and my ears bleed. Why on earth would anyone need 400 watts? You can't possibly listen to anything that loud.
Only when my wife isn't home 😂 but it definitely about sound quality and bass. The amp makes these speakers sound completely different. Great for movies too!
Let's put it this way a factory car stereo output is 25 to 50 watts per channel definitely not loud enough. My car stereo is aftermarket and also has 50watts per channel and 3 rca outputs for amps front back and sub I run 400watt mids and highs for front and back eack running 2 channel 800watt amps and I run 1 sub amp that is a mono block 2500watt amp to two 15" subwoofers in a series. Still not loud enough for me
I have a 120w reciver that was perfect... until I bought some huge tower speakers that suck all my power for sub par volume all around, so amps are really a setup based use case. Also you will find that if you can drive your speakers to about 80% of peak RMS they get more tight and responsive.
Depending on your home stereo/avr amplifier, you may have a few options. Using the OP's HT amplifier, you can use rca cables from Zone 2 PreOut, or any of the rca output (grayed out). Your subwoofer should have frequency selector and volume to make sound good.

@@EverydayMan LOL! So you caught that I caught that, huh?...
Thank you so much for the video man! I have trying to decide (and looking up many videos) on how to hook up my 5.1 home theater system to a pair of Passive 14" monitors...just give my system that extra punch!.. but my stereo is bare wire connection only... and my monitors are a (well literally) a guitar jack input..(6.3mm I think)... any ideas??
So I have a onkyo ts 383 and it doesn't have a pre amp or out. I'm useing klipsch and i wanna add a little more Heard useing a Xbox cord and hook it up an amp to the just the sub? But idk what can I do besides buying a new one
Now all you have to do is make your sound
what if the stereo doesn't have a pre amp rca
I don't think you can us an amp.
@@elishasrepairandmore3639 change the sensitivity on the amp.
@@EverydayMan ok thats the switch on the back with .775 to 1.4, let me try that
also I appreciate your responce
Something I've never quite understood about adding an amplifier - my stereo receiver is a 100-watt output unit, and if I put the volume up past 3 or 4 on the dial, it's so loud my walls shake and my ears bleed. Why on earth would anyone need 400 watts? You can't possibly listen to anything that loud.
Only when my wife isn't home 😂 but it definitely about sound quality and bass. The amp makes these speakers sound completely different. Great for movies too!
I have two pb16 ultra, neighbors hates me when wife is not home 😆
Let's put it this way a factory car stereo output is 25 to 50 watts per channel definitely not loud enough. My car stereo is aftermarket and also has 50watts per channel and 3 rca outputs for amps front back and sub I run 400watt mids and highs for front and back eack running 2 channel 800watt amps and I run 1 sub amp that is a mono block 2500watt amp to two 15" subwoofers in a series. Still not loud enough for me
How do you power the amp? Car amps use around 12+ volts! Is that what you use?
I have a 120w reciver that was perfect... until I bought some huge tower speakers that suck all my power for sub par volume all around, so amps are really a setup based use case. Also you will find that if you can drive your speakers to about 80% of peak RMS they get more tight and responsive.
Older more better
Now how do you hook up a subwoofer
I don't, I have 15" Cerwin Vegas! lol
but a sub would be connected to the pre out also.
Depending on your home stereo/avr amplifier, you may have a few options. Using the OP's HT amplifier, you can use rca cables from Zone 2 PreOut, or any of the rca output (grayed out). Your subwoofer should have frequency selector and volume to make sound good.
so what u r saying is that I need a 5.1 amp.....
Not at all. It's stereo.
Ok
You need some bass in yiur life
I agree
Hey I watched your video,(ruclips.net/video/KYBIQlLMImw/видео.html) thanks for the info. What's the proper way to put the jumper together with the 4 prong plug? The wire you have is 8/3 not 8/4.
Just hook the green wire to the ground connector.
@@EverydayMan ok cool, so green to ground, and match the rest/ignore the red?
@@earlnoel4423 no back and red are hot. White is neutral and green is ground
Thanks for the replies. Sorry but my confusion is that the wire I ordered from your link is only white black and green no red. So I'm left with an empty
@@earlnoel4423 ok, what I did was use black and white for hot and green for neutral with an empty ground.
Your stereo is old AF. Looks just like mine!
@BenG123 it is definitely old!! Works great though.
What a joke of a video if you don’t have an amplifier with pre-amp outputs you can’t hook up a standalone amplifier anymore on can hook this stuff up. This is a pointless video.
@rotarycomptech what I've learned doing videos is not everyone knows how to do things that you or I know how to do. Much like you don't know how to do things that would be simple to others. And on a side note my mother raised me to not say anything if I ain't got nothing nice to say. Sadly, everyone didn't receive the same raising.
U need to get 2 subwoofers asap before u blow out ur speakers🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
They're good lol
@@EverydayMan for now , but u need 2 subs asap, especially for those old school vegas, trust me , this is what I do ! U need 2 8inch subs to cover all those dead spots the Vegas can produce, this is free advice , next time I’m charging u for my expert audio advice !
@@therockakaada6109 Ok thanks.
