    Thank you for these videos. I was able to revive an almost dead hibiscus plant (which never bloomed once in my house after buying it ) by following your old videos. It took almost 6 months for my plant to fully recover and now it is in the heavy blooming phase. Can I prune my hibiscus now in the heavy blooming phase? Or is it better to wait until it stops blooming?

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  11 месяцев назад +2

      You are most welcome and I am very glad to your hear about your success story, that's really appreciable! As your plant is blooming nicely, it would be better not to prune now. Instead, please wait for some more days and do only when you see that it's getting leggy and producing less blooms. If I am not wrong, temp in your place is high and that is why, your plant did well even in winter. Normally, they don't do well in winter and we can prepare them for heavy flowering in Spring and pruning is the first thing to do. Wish you all the best and thank you so much for your feedback, appreciated!

      You are most welcome and thank you so much for your words, appreciated! I actually avoid pruning Frangi Pani as they almost shed all their leaves in the winter and doesn't grow excessively unless they are grown directly in soil. But still we can do soft pruning. For Mogra, I would upload very soon as I need to work on my plant urgently. Sorry for the bit late reply though :-(

    So after pruning my second year hibiscus which only has three stems is about 10 inches tall with only a few leaves. I repotted it with new potting mix and worm castings. Do I put it in the sun or keep it in the shade? We are in the 60-70's during the spring, but it's still 40's at night, so I have been bringing it inside each night. These plants are not cheap, and I would really like to get more blooms this year. It started from a 4 inch pot.

    Thanks for the tips. Is there a rule for how dry the soil should be when you are pruning? Sometimes I see dieback even when using a sterilised pruner and using fungicide on the cut branch.

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  10 месяцев назад +1

      After pruning please decrease the watering frequency a bit n let the top soil dry out before watering. Less leaves n so the watering requirement would be less. Dieback shouldn't happen as you use fungicide too..

      @@GardeningUpbeat how about before pruning? Any precautions for watering before pruning?

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  10 месяцев назад

      Before pruning, please water as usually you do! Hibiscus usually needs lots of water and when I keep on terrace, during extreme hot weather (33-35 degree Celsius above) I need to water twice. Or else, petals get burned badly..

      No, please don't prune your plant now as it's a new plant. Pruning is actually done when plants goes in wrong shape, get leggy and not full. Thank you!
