I think i will also buy a barebone unit, but it is still on auction. I am looking for the same model, it already has wifi so it's good, and since I have some spare ssd's, hopefully I just need to buy cpu, and ram. How much money do you think i5-8500T is worth it and where to buy it?
The waiting is the hardest. Constantly checking the tracking. But it is cool when all the parts are ready and you get to construc the computer from scratch.
I know this is an older post. But i7-9700k is a 95 watt processor. You are limited to a 35 watt processor. You do not have the VRM for a 65 watt (only 3 chokes) let alone a 95 watt. Also your heatsink is aluminum (for 35 watt) copper is for 65 watt.
Very good point. Is the TDW 95W for the 9700K? Thinking of a future video of trying to use one with my G5 and I think I may have a high wattage power supply on my junk box.
This is my 3rd attempt to leave a comment on your videos - for some reason, youtube keeps deleting them. My comment was about modding the caddy for the G4 (and maybe the G5) to accommodate a full-size 2280 drive in the 2nd NVMe slot. Hopefully you'll get this one and reply, and I'll try again to post the origin information. Or maybe an email. Otherwise, I give up.
Sorry you had such a hassle with RUclips and thanks for sticking it out. Are you thinking of removing the little screw so you can remove that bottom plate? I think that's where the 65w fan goes.
@@handmedowntech Ok, they deleted it again. Maybe when I mention certain other posting sites, that triggers the algorithm. Have an email address to send it to? I don't do social media sites.
@@handmedowntech Not the one that matters. Let's try this. Just search for: Fixing my HP EliteDesk 800 G4 Mini's HDD caddy to fit a second M.2 drive. Right at the top, on a well known site for tech stuff. There's a picture album.
@@handmedowntech Deleted yet again. I tried to give as few details as possible so you could find the mod. Unless you have an alternative mode of communication, I give up.
I have a G2 currently running I7-6700 works fine
How can you test a processor in a machine that has no RAM installed?
If you look at it closer there is a stick. It sort of blends in. Plus it worked once I got the right processor in there.
I'm currently using a i7-8700t in my 600 G3. Should also work well in the 800 G3, or G4. Man, this thing is running like lightening!!
Hmm, so you are using an 8th Gen CPU in the G3? Didn't expect that to work.
@@handmedowntech Yes, you caught my slip up, it's a 4th Gen. My 800 is a G3...
hi there, just replaced the fan on this unit, it is so quiet now, thanks you
Good to hear!

I put the link to the place I got my G4, it was a buy now, best offer. I've been trying to get a 8500T and they are ruining from $50 to $60.
I bought a barebone g4 last week. Am fixing to do this. Everything is in the Post office system right now.

So I see your earlier comment and then this new one. Seems like they are sticking?

love the #g4 #24y
Lol. Put ram in it.

Too close up
But then you don't get the 4ft CPU on your 65 inch TV 😉
And yet, you don't even have a thumbnail. Come on, man, at LEAST try!
Ok you got me. I was thinking the same thing. The ones generated by RUclips are pretty lame. I'll try a little harder 😉
