- Star Wars: Jedi Survivor is out soon, and so we thought you could use a Jedi Fallen Order Story Recap. Whether you've played the game or not, this recap is essential for understanding the Journey of Kal Kestis, and how it bridges the clone wars to the original Star Wars trilogy.

Welcome to ScreenCrush, I’m Ryan Arey. Jedi Fallen Order is not only one of the best Star Wars Games ever made, but it's also a critical part of it’s canon.
Doug: but how would anyone know that if they never played the game?
Wait, you never played Fallen Order?
Doug: kinda hard without thumbs
Well then, let's recap the events of the game and tell you exactly where other shows and movies have borrowed from this story.
Fallen Order is set 5 years after the fall of the republic, placing it before the events of Obi-wan, Andor, and Rebels. [ Clip]
The game starts on Bracca ( Bra-Kah), a junkyard planet ruled by the Scrapper Guild - and the same planet that Rex takes Clone force 99 to remove their inhibitor chips in Bad Batch. [ Clip]
And This is where we meet our main hero, Cal Kestis, the Jedi Padawan who crash-landed on the planet after his master (Jair-O Tuh-pall) was executed in Order 66. [ Clip]
He's been hiding for years, but after he’s caught using The Force to save a co-worker, he attracts the attention of the Inquisitors.
Doug: the same inquisitors from Obi-wan and Rebels?
Yes and no. Same group, Same mission, different cast.
Doug: Ah, like Saved by the Bell: the new class.
Right, like that. Cal’s main “inquisitorius” rivals are The Second and Ninth sisters.
Doug: so, who are the inquistors?
They are force-sensitive Jedi hunters appointed by none other than Darth Vader. They’re ruthless and extremely competitive, especially with one another. [ Clip]
They discover Cal, and after a short chase, he tries going toe-to-toe with the Second sister.
Just before he’s been beat, Cere June (seer Joon), a former Jedi, and Greez (Gree-ze), a Lateron Pilot, swoop in and save him in their starship, The Mantis.
On board, Cere reveals that she’s a friend of Cal’s former master. She recruits him for a mission to Bogano (Boh-gone-Oh) in hopes of retrieving secrets from a vault that could potentially restore the Jedi Order. On Bogano, Cal finds his droid companion BD-1, the same model as one of Peli’s droids spotted in Book of Boba Fett. [ Clip:]
BD-1 then projects a message from Eno Cordova (en-Oh Core-dov-a), its former master, who claims to have had a vision about the fall of the Jedi and prepared for it by hiding a Holocron containing the location of force-sensitive younglings-and it’s hidden in a vault made by ancient force users called the Zeffo.
BUT, in order to ensure its security, he created a series of tests that had to be passed in order to get inside.
[Clip: “prepared is to you as not is to test” Freaky Friday]
Doug: Wouldnt be a good game without a test, right?
Exactly, so Cal and crew zip over to the planet Zeffo (Zef-O) where he receives another holo message from Eno - this time redirecting him to find the Wookie chieftain, Tarfful (Tar-full).- who you might recognize as Yoda’s main man in the battle of Kashyyyk, during Episode 3. [clip]
On the way to Kashyyk, Cere revealed that Cordova was actually her master and that she once had a padawan of her own. She explains how she went into hiding with some rescued younglings just after the purge-but was eventually found by the empire.
Doug: Wait, does this mean she could be the one who saved Grogu?
Absolutely! Or heck, even Reva! But back to the story.
Cal and the crew land on Kashyyyk - but can't find Tarfful - So Cal kills time by freeing some enslaved Wookies and ends up crossing paths with Saw Gerrera.
[Clip]
At this point in the rebellion, Saw is actively recruiting Jedi for the fight, and even though Cal declines, Saw agrees to help him find Tarfful anyways.
Doug: what a guy!

Small correction: Cal gets knighted by Cere on behalf of the Jedi Council as a Jedi Knight, he never got to that middle rank, he was only ever a padawan when he went into hiding. I just finished replaying this game and hiiiiighly recommend it. Favorite SW game and I can’t wait for the sequel. 🙏
Same thing happened to Kanan Jarrus in Rebels, he gets knighted by the ghost of The Grand Inquisitor.

Exactly what I was going to say. I think Ryan didn't actually play the game. 😂
The fight with Vader is one of the biggest reasons Cal destroys the holocron because it not only shows that Vader himself outclasses everyone but that he's relentless and vicious. It's a representation of a whole as to what the Empire would do to get their hands on those Jedi kids. It's not just that Cal doesn't think it's a good idea, it's that there is no room left for him to believe he has a choice.
The jedi master joke with the cutaway to anakin at 7:12 actually got me really good lmao

That Vader fight was amazing! You feel like such a bad ass at that time and Vader comes in like a force of nature and beats you down easily. Only thing you can do is run. Perfectly done!

@@theaces3697 The classic Star Wars trope of having someone on the other side of the light fence being a near equal in power and, once seen as such, not being able to resist at least an attempt at converting them to the other side. Second only to villains monologuing until a savior swoops in to save the day.
I just beat it today and the vader sequence went hard af it was almost as good as the last 5 mins of rouge 1
The final vader fight in this game I remember being so impressed by. They made us feel like we were getting poweful but then really had no chill when showing how powerful vader is in comparison

I actually felt more when BD-1 erased his memory than when it happened to C3PO. BD-1 actually AGREED to do it, showing he's brave, while C3PO was forced against his will. BD-1 didn't know if he'd ever get his memories back, but C3PO was reminded R2D2 kept a back-up before his memory was erased. BD-1's true friend said good-bye to him when it happened, while the audience was supposed to "care" when C3PO said good-bye to a bunch of near strangers who didn't care him anyway. Everything the movie did wrong, the game did right.

@@anthonyc7418 Eno, BD1's original owner, encodes his memories and programs BD1 to only unlock them once he finds a trustworthy companion, who ends up being Cal. It's a surprisingly sentimental moment.
One thing that is amazing about this game is the way it is it's own separate story about characters that aren't in the movies or shows, it's just it's own adventure in the Star Wars galaxy. It uses cameos sparingly and appropriately, especially Vader, who is utilized perfectly here: he's a classic movie monster. He's basically a force of nature, he's insurmountable, inspires dread, and motivates the character to flee.
Trying to decide whether or not your pronunciation of Taron Malicos was so wrong on purpose or if you are just reading a script and didn't play the game yourself lol. Also, Cere Knighted him as a Knight, not a Master cause he was still a Padawan.

He's just reading a script written by other people. He has a writing team for scripts. As for his lack of Star Wars knowledge u can't blame the guy he's making 100s of thousands of dollars just for googling facts about Star Wars. He doesn't know anything but what Wikipedia says and sometimes it's wrong lol
Yeah I wanted to point those mistakes out too, also the interrogation room. He said that Cere got tortured there then showed a scene of Trilla getting tortured 😂 Cere almost did but she got out in time.
He pronounces everything correctly later in the script, this is so odd lol
He mispronounces so many things in Star Wars it makes me cringe. I love his coverage of Star Wars and feel like he’s a true fan, but… come on man… it’s not like it’s a name never spoken out loud.
Ryan, as someone who's always loved Star Wars, grew up with the prequels, but has never been a super fan - I find your content invaluable. Especially as I've never seen Clone Wars or Rebels. I've recently found a new love for the franchise thanks to the Disney+ series and Fallen Order and have gone back and rewatched all the films and used your videos to fill in a LOT of the blanks. Thanks for all the hard work!

Watching the whole clone wars is time consuming as half the episodes are random fillers. I went to the list of episodes in wikipedia and picked out the more relevant ones (like those including mandalorians)
Fallen order was a dream game for me it was basically a combo of two sorts of star wars games I had dreamed of a souls like star wars game ,and a uncharted style star wars game.
Absolutely loved this game and I got the platinum trophy on it! I also remember the story pretty well but your recaps are so entertaining and well done that I watch them anyways, even when I don’t need a recap! I’m absolutely excited for the 28th!
I’ll die on the hill that we don’t need more skywalker related movies. So much lore fleshed out. You can go anywhere and do anything
Jedi: Fallen Order was filled with easter eggs to past Star Wars lore. I loved the game a lot, and enjoyed everything about the story, characters, and worldbuilding. I am so excited for Jedi: Survivor.
I normally don't pre-order video games, but Jedi: Survivor looks like it might be the one for me to pre-order instantly!
I think the story you just laid out is better than almost every Star Wars story we’ve gotten in recent time aside from Andor

You really need to research your pronunciation of names, especially ones that are flat out said out loud.
Also, Cal was never promoted to Master, he was promoted to knight. He was a Padawan during order 66 and therefore never had the chance for promotion. Same thing happened with Kanan when he fought the force projection of the Grand Inquisitor when he was still a Jedi guard on the temple on Lothol.
When I was watching Obi-Wan I literally couldn't believe that they did the same thing twice to escape the Fortress Inquisitorius by breaking by the glass and swimming out. Like you think in the five years since then Vader would've upgraded the glass a little or something.

Hey, @screencrush! What about doing a recap of the book Jedi: Battle Scars as well? Would help a lot of ppl that didn't read the book but wants to know every information there is available before the new game.
Please NEVER bring up that book again, those of use that tried to listen to it are still in therapy, we wanted a Star Wars book, not a teen lesbian romance novel, and this has nothing to do with it being lesbian... but more the fact that it was jsut TOO MUCH

3)Cal has to fix his connection to the force throughout the whole game , when he meditated he used to lose control like on dathomir but through the game he focuses his rare force ability to see the past by touching an object.
4) merin doesn't join cal because she finds out the truth but because Taron malicos was just using her and the night brothers to gain power.
5) The main storyline of the game is call recovering all remaining poncho's after the great poncho purge aka order 69

This is the first game i have ever preordered, I never seen a sequel add so much stuff before.
And I know someone in the comments will say “uhhhhh, actually this game had a better sequel that added more stuff”. I really don’t play many games with sequels so I wouldn’t know

Ilum wasn't likely used by the First Order to create Starkiller base, it was Starkiller base. The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary confirmed that if I remember right.

It would make sense if the Magistrate was from Dathomir cos it's the only way that fight with Ahsoka could be fair is if she's a force user.
They said Morgan Elsbeth was a Nightsister but also that there was more than one group of Nightsisters so I doubt she is Merrin

There’s some stuff from the battle scars book that might of been helpful to include but overall a good summary.
