- The new exhibition "Play It Loud" at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art features some of rock music's most cherished musical instruments, among them Don Felder's double-neck guitar. Felder himself picked up the instrument and played for "Sunday Morning" The Eagles' classic, "Hotel California."

Heard on the radio the other day that Jimmy Page was in attendance for this and Felder was nervous performing in front of him. What a legend.
Raj Kissoon it’s interesting that you say that. This was far from a bad performance, but I’ve heard him do this better, just about every other time he does this.
drakey27 they are totally different. Page is like Slash. He is a complete riff master. He has written so many memorable riffs. I can’t say the same for Felder, but his technical prowess is way up there.
justfine77777 Page couldn’t hit the same licks twice if you held a gun to his head
Needs Joe
@@GuitarMan471 you ruined him 😂😂😂
-Should we give him a microphone?
-Nah
Yeah, he is not a good singer.
He sounds like auto tuned spongebob🧽
That is a great place to play acoustic
Even no microphone for the amp
@Maian Dalffaro I think they should have given Don a mic. I thought he sang pretty well, for not having Don Henley's pipes. Woulda been nice to hear him sing. No one could wire one mic to one of the two Fender amps there? Really?
This is the man WHO WROTE THIS.

Fussiest Goblin you just can’t play it that’s why your mad
It sounds different without Joe walsh also playing and doing the double solo
Sorry Steuart, you're a brilliant guitarist mate, and you're playing of this Iconic song is superb, BUT with respect sir, you're name is not Don Felder. He has over the years put his own touch to this song, and musically it's his own creation. And with Don and Joe teaming up in the final...PURE MAGIC.
@@thomasmcknight4495 Yeah ! To me Don Felder and Joe Walsh go together like Lennon and Harrison.
They compliment each other perfectly.
Felder laughing at the end was AWESOME !!!!!!!! Brovo !!

Felder doesn’t get the respect he deserves, he’s my favorite Eagle

Same here
You may be cool, but you’ll never be Don Felder playing hotel California on his double neck in the met

While on TV
JM M And Don Felder may be cool, but he’ll never be Joe Walsh.
@Garegh62 Write a solo that millions of people will know 40 years from now and get back to us.
James Allen - Well said. At least he wrote one of the most timeless and iconic songs now honored by a institution such as The Met. What has anyone done whose criticizing his output since then.
Legend has it that solo never ended, in the midst of the night that double guitar rift can still be heard from the Cascade mountains to the Appalachians
Dude still plays it note by note. This guy deserves sooo much respect
Thank you so much I appreciate the love and support I get from all my fans❤️
Frey’s ghost and Henley probably would’ve killed him in his sleep if he didn’t
He wrote it!
All I can say is that Don Felder was definitely the “guitar man” of the Eagles
Frey called Don "fingers."
Bernie Leadon deserves plenty of credit as well, just listen to the first few albums...no Felder or Walsh
Underrated, but certainly not in Joe Walsh's league.
@W B joe can't play the solos, thats the reason they got stuart smith,,
@@dondrescher9741 i agree joe wasnt that good, thats why they got stewart smith to do the solos
I'll never get tired of hearing Don play this solo. Very cool to hear it resounding through the Met.
Thank you so much I’m glad you all enjoy my music ❤️
And with no rhythm, bass, or harmony to make it sound better.
I recently watched the eagles hall of fame acceptance and you can really tell he’s a humble down to earth guy. His talent amazes me. The eagles wouldn’t been so successful without him.

amazing to know how much Don Felder made the eagles so amazing !
The musical genius who brought the eagles into the second half of there career incredible music writer and extremely gifted guitar player
Felder went to the met museum when he moved to New York as a young man and spent an entire day looking around it. Here he’s back nearly fifty years later and his doubleneck’s hanging on the wall. I think it’s wonderful that he still plays the solo perfectly, even with no band behind him. And the sound of that guitar’s voice is just haunting.
Felder’s an underrated, classy badass of a musician who was completely under appreciated and mistreated by Henley and Frey when he was in the Eagles. I hope that someday Henley can learn the lyrics of his own songs and take a shot at forgiving Felder, as Felder did to the Eagles.
One of the most underrated composer/songwriters/stylists on guitar. The music he's done is just immense.
Just for people who don't know. Don Felder wrote the music and played guitar (the big solo). Glenn Frey and Don Henley wrote the words. Henley sang the song. They kicked Felder out of The Eagles later on.
And in reality, Henley was the major contributor lyrically. To me that gives a little insight as to why Glenn and Felder never got along very well. Once Felder joined, he handled most of the musical composition while Henley handled most of the lyrics which could have contributed to Glenn's resentment.
RadVideos A certain attorney named Michael Avenatti handled the lawsuit between Felder, Don Henley and Glenn Frey. What next?🤔
You forgot the “for NO GOOD REASON” part. 🤨
Um.. not gonna mention Joe Walsh, who plays half the main solo, trades licks with Felder, and plays the harmony with him??
MrMustard Felder wrote all the parts for the solo. He even worked out the bass part as well.
You know it's iconic when u can hear virtual drums ,base and rhythm in ur head while the legend plays the legendary solo 🤘
One of the best guitarist in history playing one of the best songs ever!
Don Felder's playing always give me goosebumps. He is supernatural.
its time for Don Felder to tour back with the Eagles. Past is past, your music is what makes the future alive.
Amir Yusoff that saying makes so little sense....
That's unfortunately not going to happen.

That song is a central memory of my childhood. Probably one of a half dozen songs that transport me in time. Thank you Don for this iconic song.
Henley once kicked an audience member out of a show for mentioning Felder was good enough to give Tom Petty guitar lessons so he should be back in the band...
Felder and Walsh made a pretty potent combination on guitar, they are both great players and performers.
Henley knocked up Stevie Nicks and forced her to get an abortion.

Thank you so much I appreciate the love and support I get from my fans❤️
With Glen Frey’s passing I was hoping the band might let him back in. Steuart Smith is really good but that iconic solo and duel with Walsh belongs to Felder
I saw them in Oregon last year; they had Vince Gill and Deacon Frey. I regret never having seen them with Glenn Frey and Don Felder, but they put on a great show. It's too bad that Henley couldn't let go of the past; I would have loved seeing Felder and Walsh playing Hotel California together.
Henley will never let that happen, if only because Felder dredged up some of Henley's dirt in his book. Shame though, if the Eagles still had Felder they might be producing new (and better than the 2007 album) music.
Yes I saw them in Cleveland in October with Gill and Deacon as well.
@@2HitWonder Henley does like that young strange with the tooterisky at the end of a wild night....good thing it has been covered up for years, while he remade himself......if it ever gets full exposure , Henley might not be a legend status forever. Just sayin

Well, since I do NOT have a DVR & Can't wakeup early to watch Sunday Morning on CBS, Thanks to RUclips This segment featuring Don Felder just Made My Day! His playing " Pure Perfection". God bless those guys for giving us that great music to enjoy and pass along.
AMAZING 😻 sang this since I was a little girl! My dad showed me & my music teacher at grade school! Love it! Amazing Performance 😸
How it must feel to say/think/hear "Hotel California" and knowing how loved it is and its impact on music and being able to say "that song was possible only because of me."
The Eagles were just another one of those bands that had so much talent in each member. In the beginning they were men who were like brothers who just wanted to make it, they truly cared deeply for the band and their brotherhood. Success, alcohol, drugs and egos about song writing and creating music slowly destroyed this band and the love and brotherhood that they had for one another. Same story for so many talented and great bands. Fighting for royalties and song credits, destroys friendships and bands.
Journey is another band, same situation happened
He is having fun, what a great talent, so cool to see this.
Is RUclips going to strike this as Copyright?
I think CBS might have a little more resource to fight it than a typical RUclipsr.
RP225 that made me laugh so hard
Infringement
the hotel california tutorial by Don Felder presented by Premiere Guitar was taken down few years back, so i would not be surprise with this one
Ok, here’s the answer concerning copyright law. Don Felder was a co-writer and producer on this song. Therefore, he owns just as much right to perform this song anywhere and anytime he chooses. He wrote half the song and he receives a nice royalty check every month in the same amount as Henley. So this is one song that Henley and his lawyers won’t be taking down.
I absolutely love the 12 string part, quite a distinct sound!
When you hear original artists play their songs...there are "NO GAPS" in their sound of riff that occurs when others play their song. In other words... irreplaceable!!
I was actually thinking this sounded terrible
@@bipedalhominid6815 I think it sounds a little weaker than usual because he's playing in a big room with little amps. Whereas on the original recording, the microphone was right up against the amp so you had that powerful "in-your-face" sound.

Man Felder and Walsh were in the same band! Respect. One of my favorite guitar solos in all of rock n roll is Felder's soft piece on "I Can't Tell You Why." He's literally weeping through the guitar to close out the song.
the solo in i cant tell you why is actually played by glenn frey
jur nelissen jur nelissen yup. That’s a Glenn Frey solo. You can hear a lot of his signature licks. Felder is an unreal guitar player, but the I Can’t Tell You Why Solo belongs entirely to Glenn Frey. Glenn honestly had such a melodic way of playing guitar. I know exactly what is meant by “weeping through the guitar”. It’s the same bends that Clapton used in his While My Guitar Gently Weeps solo for the Beatles. They come across with so much power and sadness and just raw emotion. Incredible solo.
Nicholas Palacio for sure? I stand corrected then. Well done Glenn...
Oh wow, that guitar sound!!❤
Sorry to say it but Henley and Frey were arseholes to Felder.
