The reason why Annie was unconscious was not shown in the anime. One of her abilities is to be able to call titans. Initially the plan was to have her call titans and her and Marcel would take turns running and leading them all to the wall to attack with the rest on their back but since there is no Marcel she ran the whole way with all the titans she called for the first attack on the wall and passed out from exhaustion. It's weird to leave that info out as they had a plan of initial attack all planned out.
This episode is the worst in the season in terms of leaving information from the manga out
I love it is amzing keep going king
@@MW_Asurabesides Annie, what information was missing
That’s a cool bit of info, but I think the reason why it was cut was for the consistent pacing and to fit within the minutes for the episode. I am actually fine with the anime’s suggestion that she passed out due to Reiner choking her. The titans infiltrated the walls because they were already around the walls nearby, as shown in Episode 1 when the scene cut to the titans as the Wallist priest was preaching to the public.
@@daniaaalUnfortunately, that makes Armin’s realization that the female titan must have been involved with breaching the wall by calling in titans (1x17) retroactively look like a Chekhov’s gun that just never went off. It would mean he connected her to that incident based on an ability she never even used for it. Which is…really stupid.
Wow!! I believe you are the very first reactor I've seen that actually recognizes the old man's story as the same one that Bertholdt told Eren and Armin. Good on you sir for paying attention and remembering even those subtle details!
I think it was mainly because of the flashback with the titan at the windwo, that scared me shitless in episode 3 :D
@@storieswithstyle lol nice 😂
Bertolts character and demeanour is so understandable...as they said the collosal is a God of destruction...at this point bert alone has hundreds of thousands of deaths on his hands...its no surprise why he's always quiet and sad and was crying in season 2...for real...I pity him so much...and now that destructive power is armins
I agree with you here l fell şad for him and Rinier too he my top
By the way i realized how many peopled didnt guessed the meaning of bertholds way of sleeping. Basically the position he's in its the same in the Tarot Card of the Hanged Man, probably alusing to the hanged man in the fields. Also the meaning of the card as well is about some one who doesnt have control of his own life, and represents when a person has indecisions traits of personality wich really represents a lot of bertholds character.
02:19 I’m not sure if you noticed but it’s been 4 years since Reiner came back and they STILL didn’t give him a bigger bed :(
Even if you realize they were kids, actually seeing that the monsters who broke the wall were just confused and scared 12 year olds hits different. Love how this show keeps going back and showing different sides to past events, recontextualizing it for us.
You can see how Reiner ended up being as broken he is, even before having to come terms that the Paradis Eldians aren't 'devils' he already had his view of himself shattered when realizing he shouldn't have been chosen. And then he pretends to be like Marcel, he pretends to be a soldier, it would be too much for anyone to bear, let alone a child.
And I like how his answer to Shadis isn't a lie. " To save humanity"
I fell şad for Rinier l love his bucksotry he had şad life he doing for his family keep going king your the best
03:04 "Who are you, mate? You look nice."
-Malti talking about Zeke 😆
Mr Kruger's monologue is so powerful in retrospect
28:46 that slow realisation was awesome 😭 “oh no… OH, oh no” honestly same 😭
9:21 "peck" is the English word, and the bird is a woodpecker
Cheers for recognizing Eren. So many reactors don't get it until they literally say the name.
Almost did not get it either :D But his voice seemed really familiar and characteristic =D
I agree with you here
@@storieswithstyleyour the best keep going king❤
I honestly don't understant how can people not understand that it's eren right at this moment, especially in the anime it's way too obvious and made on purpose with sounds voice and shit 😂
@@coconutmilk2196 Yeah, the very conspicuous voice combined with the green eyes is a dead giveaway. It was a lot harder in the manga.
06:20 I haven’t noticed this connection between Reiner and Historia, wow 😮 maybe that’s one of the reasons Reiner likes her. Wow.
26:00 He was Thomas Wagner.
Every time you pause, you share insights most ppl have trouble concluding to, right away, you see what most cant understand.
You Scout commander you
It's kind of impressive that you didn't see any of the multiple romances in the show 😅😂
You were so sure at the end 😆 some people troll other reactors and say that it’s just Eren’s voice actor because the studio wanted to save their resources 😆
Not sure if it was mentioned prior to this point, but titan shifters can only maintain their titan form for hours (and the time goes down the more they need to heal themselves). The cart is unique in being able to maintain it for months.
Also the line "if people knew it would come to this, nobody would go to war" is such a powerful line.
jetzt muss ich nicht bis nach 12 wach bleiben lol
Ja auch mal schön ^^
18:56 the voice acting is so good 😭 young Reiner sounds so scared 😭😭
Most are equating the marleyans to the Painters people but its more like Marley is the United States, (saviour turned overlord) The marleyan Eldian Marleyan Soldiers are are the "Nisei" 442nd infantry regiment (made up of 2nd gen Japanese Americans from the internment camps) and the warriors are the ones that who fought in the pacific (and did covert missions) the way they depicted them gives an insight to how the author feels about the real world equivalent.
Yeah when it came out that's what everyone thought, but the ultimate conclusion was that "Marley" is a representation of Imperialist Nations.
All over the world, they are creating Eren's and Gabi's.
Nice imagination, but no.
there are many real life examples you could project attack on titan on and they work perfectly. However i personally think the most fitting would be that marley is great britain and eldia is germany. The Great Titan War representing the First World War.
The eldians are German Jewish people basically of irony and how iconography alone are not enough to define good or bad as well The viewer shouldn't so easily try to run away from the more complex issues of human and just equate one side to good or bad. But also can be the celtics and Romans
yams said celtic and romans too
Wow, Reiner and Historia. I love how Reiner being a child, follows the wishes of others, and Historia, being older and with her relationship with Ymir, broke out of that trope to do what she wanted instead.
30:03
the dude who jumped off the roof.
That was just a random suicide from a war PTSD victim. I gather the point was to show how hard things are for the Eldians.
As always I love the analysis & discussion. Especially on this episode. One of my all time favorites. You really get to understand the depths of Reiner & the Warrior’s plight, Their brainwashing , personalities, & why the first 3 seasons played out the way they did.
Episode 4 has an after credit scene! Don’t miss it!
Many people recognize Eren just by his voice, I was one of them
This episode left out A LOT out stuff that was in the manga.
I highly recommend you read chapters 96 and 97 of the manga. I think every anime-only should read these two chapters to fully understand the episode.
reiner...man i love him so much
Me too :)
Reiner tried to influence Falco to help Gabi. That is the way he knew.
I was really really REALLY looking forward to your reaction to this episode 😊
That wasn't Eren. That was Sasha.
She’s just grown up fr.
A lot of people don't pay attention to it in the story, but it was not a gamble to send them there, in patron I'm sure you have seen already the Tybur speech, that explain that.
18:15 the technicalities of this scene are more clear in the manga version
The difference between Reiner and Historia's moms is that Reiner's mom was the one with the "problematic" bloodline, so she can't hate or blame her son for their misery. However, in Historia's case, it was her father's bloodline which was the problem, giving birth to Historia was the reason of her death.. it's actually frustrating that we didn't get her full backstory to have a better understanding, and I'm not justifying her hate for Hisoria because I don't think she was "forced" to have a relationship with Rod, but who knows? Maybe that was the case.. or maybe not and she was just selfish, irresponsible and blamed Historia for everything.
what is interesting is parallels between Reiner and Ereb really messed with my head and when Reiner said that he was here to protect humanity and at the same time Eren was also in that very same regiment for the exact same reason but it's moreso the a bad guy we have been watching for three seasons suddenly perplexively has been doing what we have been trying to do the entire time
Yeah, the writing is a stroke of genius! =)
I agree with you here for Rinier and Eren the same thanks for his
11:45 impeccable timing
Lol
I think Reiner was distracted when Ymir titan showed up, so it was his fault, the three got scared, I think they didn't know how to react, I believe it takes some time to revert back or something, so they could get eaten or something, they couldn't stay around. But yea, that is a really weird I also thought that as well, maybe they could transform and restrain her and just wait or something.
No, it’s actually Jean with a brown wig!
Reiner didn’t choke annie unconscious, it’s never shown in the anime, but Annie turned into the female Titan, and ran all the way to the walls, while also screaming to attract the other pure titans. She was so exhausted, became unconscious, then reiner and bert breached the walls
Even if bert kicked the wall, why were there so many titans in the walls so fast? Thanks Annie…
in the anime the did it differently
@@tx6723 well no, there’s zero explanation, reiner is choking annie, and it cuts to them destroying the walls. They just cut it for pacing, there’s nothing else that could be different, it’s what happened
annie passed out and Berthold stuffed her in his Titan and then took her inside the walls@theoriginalfluff5317
You will learn later this season why Dina's titan ignored Bertholdt. :P
Everything is put in this show with intention, every scene every line of dialog even if it seems as a throwaway at the time you understand it much later.
Early reaction video, I love it!
Pecking, it's the word you're searching for
" Pieck" like, you mean, a Woodpecker? 9:20
What Is he doing there?
Who don t know: 🤷
Who know: *Vietnam flashback*
Reiner Mother does have issues and is not a great mother, but yeah, different to Historia's.
Historia's mother just very clearly NEVER wanted a child. She got pregant and I believe that either they aren't able to do aborbtions (make sense given thier tech level) or she just wasn't allowed to as Rod wanted to child to be kept.
Reiners Mother hates herself for being Eldian, and blames the Paradis eldians for all the hardships of the mainland eldians. They are good people, but everyone hates us because of those evil eldians in paradis. Ultimateley she pushes Reiner into being a "warrior" because she believe that by being an honoray Marleyean, he will have a better life (and she will do but I do geninuely thing from that regard its more about him.) She does care for him, just... her hatred of herself makes it all a bit weird. She didn't want him to become a warrior to get back with his dad, she wanted him to be a warrior because they would have a better life, and kill all those evil eldians that have condemned her to life or misery by abandoning them.
I think its pretty notable that due to this, his the only one of the warriors who are absolutely, 100% on the coolaid. He absolutely believes Marley are the good guys, Paradis are the devils. The rest of the warriors all shows signs that they know what is up. Zeke obviously is aware at least of thier being different views, although he is very much on the side of Marley, it seems obvious that he knows they aren't complete saints. Marcel clearly knows whats up and is very, very conflicted about going ahead with mission. Annie is more nihilistic in that she just thinks everyone is fucking bad and worthless and she will do what she wants to get whats best for her. Berthold absolutely understands whats up (interesting, I think compassion is a key trait used in selecting the Colosall. Due to its overwhelming and indiscriminant power, they select people who are caring and compassionate as they are unlikely to misuse the Titan. If your going to hand someone the keys to a nuke, you need to make sure they understand what using it means.
And yeah, thats why he has that mental break. What happens in Paradis is traumatic for ALL of them. But more so for Reiner. Because Annie and Berthold knew what they were getting into, but Reiner DID not.
Incidently, I dont think Bert would have been blamed, but Annie absolutely would have as well as Reiner. Bert is actually powerless in that situation, they have no way to fight titans outside of transforming and Bert can't transform with everyone in such close proximity. Its on the other 3 to protect him.
I know you have already seen far enough to know by now... yeah, its Eren. I flagged the voice right away, but yeah, the words used are very deliberate. Freedom, and then the keep moving forward is absolutely Eren.
IT WAS EREN! #SPOILED
I know this is a chapter for Reiner but I'm gonna say I missed Annie so much
Feel like Reiner a lot of times, that kind of youth gives a lot of trauma. To do everything for others without even cinsidering yourseld worthy or repeatedly hearing how worthless you are for one or another reason. To feel no matter what you do will never be enough. It gor dark but great character.
I feel Armin and Reiner are the ones who I feel closer to personally.
❤
leave berthold alone for once
Why does the guessing have to be Eren, why can't it be Jean in an "Eren disguise" disguising as a cripple.
Because Jean has a horse face.
😂 bc out of all the reactors, I be calling him a Scout commander or captain, bc he sees far yk?
This guy is intelligent
Ok you talk a little to much and have been missing some info they say. When you pause and play to talk you get caught up in your thoughts, that you miss that they are going to tell you.
Like the sense at 3:28 with the 7 children you are talking about how only 6 of them got the Titans But the with his back is talking and just says " Out of the 7 of us, they're picking 6." pulse if you looked at the kids you-ed see the one of them is current jaw titan.
