He took better care of himself unlike many Westerners and Americans in particular. In America people make poor lifestyle choices and eat bad diets so by 50 it's no surprise that many Americans are usually in bad health and already broken down. Outside of the US , and in Eastern countries in particular, 50 isn't old and people are in far better health. I'm 50 and in good shape and I get told quite often I'm in good fighting shape and don't look my age. That's what happens when you make good lifestyle choices and you take care of yourself. You don't look like a free lunch/soft target to the young guys. There's dudes in their 60's who took care of themselves who are still dangerous.

In the game joel tells ellie that was young when he had sarah, and since when was 32 years old, its possible that joel had sarah when was either 20-21 years old at best, joel also told ellie that he went to collage but not as a student because it was around the time he had sarah i think.

I always presumed when he said he was young when he had Sarah, he was maybe 17-18. Because to me that’s young. 20/21 isn’t really young.

My dad is in his 70s and still bench presses like a young man. He can’t run anymore, but he’s still strong as hell. Started exercising in his teens and never stopped. Results speak for themselves.

It’s confirmed in game countless times that outbreak day was 9/26/13. The prologue is on his birthday. At youngest he could be like 48 but he’s been confirmed 52 by ND.

If they're fake, why does Joel's have his real name and the correct day and month of his birthday?
My guess is that the IDs are real and they just have to be renewed on a regular basis kinda like a driver's license. Or you need a certain kind of ID to go to certain areas of the QZ, so Tess got fake ones that use their real names.

If I'm remembering this right, in the 1st game when Joel and Ellie are at a university, Ellie asked Joel if he ever went to college, and he responds with "No, and that he was quite young when Sarah was born." or something along those lines
If we do some maths. Joel was 52 in part 1 so he was 32 when the outbreak first broke out. Consider Sarah was 12 at that time, that means he had Sarah when he was only 20
He also said he never went to the University, at least not as a student so i guess it was when he met Sarah's mom

My logic was he had Sarah pretty young so he didn't go to college (18/19), Sarah dies at 13 making him 31/32. Plus 20 equals 52.
thats the exact timeline had Sarah in extreme youth and met Ellie at 51/52
I always guessed 50-53. Judging by Sarah and him saying he had her pretty young. Guessing she was 13 at her death and 20 years pass. So he had her at 18-21.

Ok? They still have Joels real first and last name, so what makes you think the DOB is fake when the name isn't? They probably just faked what occupation they did or how many ration cards they got or whatever, but Joel being in his 50's makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Sara looks at least 12, and if Joel had as young as 18 then he'd be 30 during the prologue, the game cuts 20 years later meaning he'd be 50. I doubt Sara is any younger than 12 and I doubt he had her while being underaged, so him being at least 50 makes sense.
