That's not the reason the rebellion started though. It was only part of it. Running off with a girl betrothed to another while you're already married is pathetic but that's beside the point. The rebellion properly started when Rhaegar's crackpot father wanted Ned and Robert's heads. Jon Arryn raised his banners and then the Rebellion began. Oh yeah, forgot about Ned's father being roasted alive while his brother strangled himself.
@@bmabs35 ok that's cool and all, but Bran never said that's how it was started, he said that was how it was built, meaning that was the main catalyst.. it's pretty simple really...
Brendan Sousa Do you know the story at all? At first Rhaegar ran off with Lyanna with the help of the Kingsguard and then, Brandon Stark arrived at Kings Landing looking for Rhaegar and then his father arrived with 200 Stark soldiers, that is when they were burnt and Aerys II demanded Ned and Roberts heads, AFTER Rhaegar took his love with him. So basically you’re point is redundant.
I always found it oddly humorous how the Dornish went from being the most despicable of the seven kingdoms to the Targaryen Dynasty to being one of their most loyal followers.
They fought on horseback, and Robert had an "antler helm that made him look like a perverbile giant." Other then those 2 SMALL details, this is actually really well done, very cool.
@@NedimCanIncebay Yeah no worries, you work with what you have and all that, but again, very cool none the less. I'm sure it's not even really possible, tough to do with dragons and white walkers, but it would be really cool to do the battle of Winterfell!!

In the books it is stated that Rhaegar gave Robert a serious wound before he was killed by Robert. I know some of you would be tempted to inform me otherwise, so I add here a segment to deter you: "I won my crown there. How should I forget it?" "You took a wound from Rhaegar," Ned reminded him. "So when the Targaryen host broke and ran, you gave the pursuit into my hands. The remnants of Rhaegar's army fled back to King's Landing. We followed. Aerys was in the Red Keep with several thousand loyalists. I expected to find the gates closed to us." Robert gave an impatient shake of his head. "Instead you found that our men had already taken the city. What of it?"
A scratch couldn't have hindered Robert to advance his host himself to King's Landing. Also, being Lewyn Martell slain by Corbray and Barristan Selmy captured, Robert fought against the most dangerous man of the enemy, would you say a Tarly footman or a Dornish spearman almost ended the Rebellion right there?
If the most dangerous man in any battle is captured, automatically the definition goes to the following that is "alive" and "free". I have read the books and I shall affirm it again, Rhaegar landed a blow to Robert with enough seriousness to hinder his combat prowess. Have a nice day mate.
I really enjoyed this battle scene between Robert and Rhaegar. That little head push, was the perfect finishing touch that reflecting how mad Robert was to Rhaegar. I second that - well yes i was watching alot of Game of Thrones videos lately, but i did not expect that. This one was great - you deserve way more likes for this.
Story told us that Rhaegar hurted Robert badly before Robert give him the killing blow. Honestly, the Targaryen shouldnt have lost the thrones, the mad king should die for Rhaegar who was a better person for throne.
That is the tragedy of it all: so kuch that should've happened, so much that went wrong... It's what makes this story so appealing, though. Tragedies... we do oddly love them from time to time.
Rhaegar was an asshole who abandoned his wife and children and run away with another man's bride. This whole war and all of its deaths are directly his fault
If the lords had asked Rhaeger to rebel against his father he likely would have. Robert Baratheon is more of an Ulfric Stormcloak than true freedom fighter, starting a war for a goal that could have been accomplished with a few words
The saddest thing is that House Baratheon was born during Aegon's conquest, the forefather was Aegon's half-brother, so in a way this fight was like seeing brothers killing eachother
This is the sort of stuff I feel like I'm missing out of while playing Crusader Kings 2 Game of Thrones mod. While that game nails all the politics, the courtly intrigue and the dynastic family struggles, I wish it wasn't so limited on the military side of things...

All those poor Dornishmen-- dying for a Prince that had betrayed their Princess. If only Rhaegar and Lyanna had kept their pants on. Hell, if only they'd been discreet. Elia was Dornish, she wouldn't have begrudged her husband having someone on the side.

He liked to sing, yes, but nowhere in the books says he liked flowers. He gave flowers to Lyanna who was known to have liked them, but that doesn't say anything about Rhaegar aside from pointing out to a chivalrous nature.
+Bartlomiej Zakrzewski Rhaegar was a man of peace aye, BUT when he eloped with Lyanna he created a casus belli too big to ignore. He should have thought that through..
LOL at the prospect of Robert literally just running all over the battlefield with his massive hammer. But to have so much endurance swinging that thing around he really must have been a beast on the battlefield
+@@Batman-jq9jq The Prince that was Promised must still be alive for the War of the Dawn against the Darkness and the Great Other (clearly references to the Night King and his Army of the Dead); Ergo it cannot be Rhaegar or Lyanna. The battle was all levels of excitement, badassery and hype... until Robert landed the finishing move. :( Killer work, mate. You set the mood perfectly with that one.
Roberts helm had stag horns. Rhaegars chest dragon was made of rubies. When his chest was crushed by the hammer, the rubies scattered into the river and soldiers on both sides stopped fighting and started going after the rubies.
Nedim Can Incebay I have the feeling that, even if they do it on a flashback scene (which I doubt will happen), it still won't top the way YOU represented the battle. :) I don't care if you took some liberties and made the battle between Robert and Rhaegar a foor duel instead of a mounted duel, I think it made the battle more dramatic. I don't understand much about the Total War series, but I can guess you've replayed those two fighting again and again and again until you got all the shots you wanted for the duel. Man, that must've taken hours! Totally worth it, though. Like I said, I doubt any other representation of the Battle of the Trident will ever top yours. ^_^
4:10 Robert is supposed to give Rhaegar one more final blow into his chest, smashing the rubies in his armor all into the river. They are also supposed to be on horseback. Other than that, great video!

Except it wasn't
@@bmabs35 it most certainly was. Rhaegar did not kidnap Lyanna nor did he rape her. They were in love you big dingus

Robert: "In my dreams, I kill him every time."
I think it was primarily because it was the most fun he ever had.
I always found it oddly humorous how the Dornish went from being the most despicable of the seven kingdoms to the Targaryen Dynasty to being one of their most loyal followers.
It wasn’t loyalty it was the fact that the made king had their princess and her children hostage
Well this is the reason marriage between royalty happened in the end.
The Mountain, servant of the Lanisters raped and murdered Elia Martel. Therefore, whatever will avenge her death.
Kinda hard not to be loyal when you have a vested interest tied to your kids.

The way Robert wielded that warhammer felt so powerful. A very cumbersome weapon being swung around that fast and skillfully is just terrifying
Even Ned found it hard to lift it, he could barely lift it, and Robert used it like it was a stick.
In the books it is stated that Rhaegar gave Robert a serious wound before he was killed by Robert. I know some of you would be tempted to inform me otherwise, so I add here a segment to deter you:
"I won my crown there. How should I forget it?"
"You took a wound from Rhaegar," Ned reminded him. "So when the Targaryen host broke and ran, you gave the pursuit into my hands. The remnants of Rhaegar's army fled back to King's Landing. We followed. Aerys was in the Red Keep with several thousand loyalists. I expected to find the gates closed to us."
Robert gave an impatient shake of his head. "Instead you found that our men had already taken the city. What of it?"
You think there is an animation for that in total war? Everyone who gets wounded gets killed by the person they were dueling 2 seconds later.
It wasn't serious and it wasn't implied that Rhagear specifically gave him that wound
Alerady done my good fellow, see the original message, I have edited it.
Robert got hurt in the battle but managed to crush Rhaegards chest with his hammer.

Not forgetting after that fight with Rhaegar, Robert was injured so Ned headed towards Kings landing. So it wasn't an easy fight.
Robert becoming king would be one of the saddest moments in the series if it was about his and Ned’s rebellion
1:47 i only need 20 good men like that one
Story told us that Rhaegar hurted Robert badly before Robert give him the killing blow.
Honestly, the Targaryen shouldnt have lost the thrones, the mad king should die for Rhaegar who was a better person for throne.
That is the tragedy of it all: so kuch that should've happened, so much that went wrong... It's what makes this story so appealing, though.
Tragedies... we do oddly love them from time to time.
Yuppppppp
Just like the mad king’s father I forgot his name the one who never went mad
Rhaegar was an asshole who abandoned his wife and children and run away with another man's bride. This whole war and all of its deaths are directly his fault
If the lords had asked Rhaeger to rebel against his father he likely would have. Robert Baratheon is more of an Ulfric Stormcloak than true freedom fighter, starting a war for a goal that could have been accomplished with a few words
The saddest thing is that House Baratheon was born during Aegon's conquest, the forefather was Aegon's half-brother, so in a way this fight was like seeing brothers killing eachother
Rhaegar was Robert's second cousin anyway. So, yeah they're related.
Robert's grandmother was targaryen and in one of jaime's dreams rheagar mentioned Robert as cousin
