Well not exactly. The Boxster is my favorite car of all time. So she's my first option even if I have the money to get a 911. But of course I would have a 911 lol.
@magnum9987 In Europe prices are different but even in the USA the price difference is a lot smaller than you think. According to the Porsche website, a Boxster is $47,600 and according to the local Lotus importer in the USA, a Elise SC is $54,990. But if you take a look at the options lists, you'll understand why Boxters usually are more expensive. To me a roadster is a second car. Why pay for all the luxury in the Porsche when u can have a much faster and more fun car for the same price?
Yeh, but the Porsche is a better road car, I own one literally identical to the one used in the video, with the exception of it being left hand drive. Driven a lot of "weekend roadsters" the SLK included, and it's all around a more practical, better built car, also included is the benefit of price, and a wicked BOSE system. Porsche is like Jeep, unchanged over the many years, simply because it shouldn't be changed. It's already legendary.
They aren't doing well in the American Market, but the "big three," as they're referred to, still have the majority market world wide, as I said in the first post, unless you're one to contest J.D. Power. They lose money on every vehicle they sell which is why they aren't doing well, it doesn't mean that they aren't selling.
Quality and sales are two different things. GM, Ford, and Chrysler hold 3 of the top five (5,3,1 respectively) positions in sales, however, as far as quality ratings, the top five, in order, are Porsche, Infiniti, Lexus, Mercedes, and Toyota, leaving Ford for the #8 spot, Chevrolet at #12 and Chrysler at #30. This is a ranking based on the # of problems per 100 vehicles, unless you'd like to contest that J.D. Power is incorrect....
Yes and I shoulda saved up a couple more years to buy a Carrera911 instead of being impatient and buying a boxster...I want my money back!!!! Still it's not as quick as a 911 and I feel inadequate every time one pulls up next to me at a light but it handles like it's on rails. Damn options make a CarreraS run around $90 grand, give or take a few thousand.
@beznicacow Actually the SL does not drive as well as the SLK... Its more of a status symbol than a driving machine. Where as Porsche is ALL driving and NOTHING else so if you get a boxter it does mean your too broke for a 911 or even a Cayman which is pretty sad.
Jaguar actually isn't Ford designed, it's Jaguar designed, just owned by ford. If anything it's designed after Aston Martin as Ford also owns over Aston Martin. Notice many key resemblances, especially with Jaguar's newest automobiles, in both the exterior, and interior. Granted Buick does share the top spot, along with a Ford product, but what you're forgetting are two key things. Quality studies are based on number of problems per 100 vehicles. Dependability studies are based on number of
"Of course, if we put a 911 engine in the Boxster, it would out-perform the 911", Dr. Wolfgang Duerheimer, Porsche VP of R&D. So true.

Comparing a boxster s to an slk amg is a bit of an extreme tbh.
Top Gear has already compared the Boxster against the non-AMG SLK on the track (SLK 350 to be precise), but the Boxster is 4 seconds faster.
