@@AgWildNebraska I've picked a lot of corn years ago, and the picker could never handle that speed, it's not about husking it's about getting the corn off the stalk and not butt shelling the crap out of it. It's your corn go in road gear if you want, but obviously it's not impressing anyone, by the comments being made
Yep run it slower. You'll have better luck picking in the morning when the dew is heavy and the stalks are tough. Open the deflector on top of the elevator to get the ears further back in the wagon.
Yep, it picks a little cleaner when stalks are a little tougher. However it's been so dang dry here and we haven't had anything close to a dew for a couple months. I grind this for creep feed and a little extra husk is alright.
We had several new ideas corn huskers they worked good but they all shelled on the snapping roll no matter how you adjusted it. But then we got a John Deere 300 husker that didn't shell on the snapping roll at all and but it didn't husk as clean it's not as aggressive like the new idea believe it or not that those machines were 1000 rpm on the power take off ! It had a electric switch for the side elevator loved it there is an Amish man in Lancaster county Pennsylvania who rebuilts both brands of huskers he is really big into new ideas as we all know they don't make these machines anymore parts are scarce
I think before this they had a 227 and a 237. And then I think they even had a one row mounted on the side or something. There's a couple I saw here that have the grinder attachment. We had one that had the sheller attachment that we used quite a bit.
I was just trying to throw it to the side. Swinging the tongue would have done the job too. We used to have one of these with the sheller unit on it. The slow point was the auger up to the wagon. In good corn it was low gear. That thing did an excellent job though. No damage or f.m.
I like that old equipment. It sure got backed up though when that chain come off. I was baling this year with a 50 year old tractor and a 40 year old baler. I didn't have many problems with it. Thx for the video Brother! Best wishes.
Definitely too fast. More for the build up in the head than the 12 roll bed. The corn's brittle and breaking off easy. Slow down give the snappers time to pull it through better. And move the deflector to get corn farther back in wagon. Or maybe your tongue is a little long. Had to shorten a couple of mine
@@AgWildNebraska don't understand those older JD gear patterns. My 2750 is nice and simple; lo-hi w 1-4(aka5-8). Low 3 on my MF 1085 or 2-1 in my Case 1896 w the same picker and a 12 roll
@@crazydave4455 The the first beans I combined I think were about 12 and then I hauled quite a few in at 9 percent. @@AgWildNebraska lol it happens. The video makes it look like your really moving but a3 is about right I actually didn't think 4 would be too fast. Used to pick allot in 3 or 4 with a 3020.
That's too fast to pull that picker. Your husks are not pulling off going over the husking bed. Slow down. Picking ear corn can not be a race.
And actually it's just about right. I need a little extra husk in the ration

Can’t say as I have ever run that fast 😉. Backing up a bit to get the elevator to throw back a bit 😂👌

What moisture is the corn at? Dang dry up here.

Slow down, that little 8 roll husking bed can't handle it. I used to have one just like it and always wished I had the 12-roll bed.
Yeah I know. Especially when the chain comes off. As long as it slides through to the elevator, I don't care if it gets the husks or not.
Seemed like you were going pretty fast, but i don't know a thing about those, it would be cool to see one around here, don't think i have.
@@rustyoldmicrofarm4673 yeah I think I was going too fast. Chain fell off just as I shifted. It was pretty loose.
