THE MIKE DOUGLAS SHOW CAPTURED PNYLLIS HYMAN'S TALENT AS A PERSON I WOULD FALL IN LOVE WITH BECAUSE OF THE KIND OF PERSON SHE IS. ALSO HER BEAUTIFUL VOICE. HER SONG THAT I LOVE "YOU KNOW HOW TO LOVE ME". 1980 I WAS 30 AND NOW OF COURSE I AM 68 WITH M.S. I WISH COULD STILL DANCE THAT SONG IS THE BEST

I lost my mom suddenly some years ago, but prior to her death, she took me to a Phyllis concert in Detroit at the FOX Theater. I was a teen and one of her friends canceled at the last so I went with her reluctantly...... I had no idea how important that time with her would be to me very soon dealing with the loss I would soon face. "Living all Alone", Living in Confusion" has pulled me through some really tough times. I just wish Phyllis didn't have to suffer as much as she did in this "Physical Plane" of existence. Like my mom, she was an enigma. Irreplaceable, incomparable, the epitome of love.

I went out and bought my ticket, didn’t care anything about having someone to go with me, I just had to see her and if that meant going alone, then that was okay and I’m not sorry that I did. RIP Ms. Hyman.

You know, I feel the exact same way! Glen Jones, Phyllis and the Whispers were to perform at the Beacon Theatre in New York City and I had to go. I went by myself, arriving late, missed Glen Jones, whose single Show Me was on the charts, and in the Middle of Phyllis performing, to which she closed with You Know How To Love Me, and that began my love affair with her, and that particular song. Whenever I hear this play, on my mobile phone, the radio, wherever, it brings me back to the Beacon, and how very fortunate that I saw her live in concert. I miss her terribly!

AS much as I have followed Phyllis, this is the first time I came across this video. During my time living in NJ/NY area, I would go to each and every Phyllis concert I could. Saw her in Sophisticated ladies twice. I was a Phyllis "addict". While I do miss her live performances, I enjoy her catalog of music that she left for us. I also pay tribute to her in my Ballads by Lamont performances...there are 3 songs that are in my range that I love to do. 1) Somewhere in My Lifetime 2) Old Friend 3) Here's That Rainy Day. Truly, she is my favorite femaie vocalist of all time!

I remember watching this show at 14yrs old and seeing her for the first time. I dont know what I fell in love first with her face or voice but I know I would marry both. Thank you Dutch 4thisgem 👍

Thank you. You've brought to life one of the most wonderful voices I ever heard. There are resonances in her voice that very few other singers have, maybe Giorgia Todrani occasionally but she has a higher register. Rest In Peace Phyllis Hyman. I get ASMR when she speaks and sings.

She's so expressive, vocally, and as an entertainment Artist, to the audience.
She energizes that thing, latent ready inside you, waiting to break out.
Your eyes just drink her in, too, Wow.
    Totally unreal exciting man!!!!

6’1. And 3-4” heels. And a 4-5” crown. I love that she didn’t shrink or try to make herself smaller in any way! A true queen!
