It bewilders me that she didnt think she was good enough. Her voice stands alone in a category all HER OWN!!Didnt think she was beautiful enough??? She was drop dead gorgeous!!! We often appear confident but are dying inside.....she was dying inside.
Unfortunately some artists are still judged on looks, height and skin tone. Rest in peace Phyllis Hyman. I fear her insecurity and loneliness caused her suicide. That took my breath away as I truly loved her voice and height and music.
Yes, I still havr some of her vinyls..yhat voice such a timeless treasure..
She was an insanely beautiful, talented woman.
I saw her at a supper club in southern California in late 1989 or early 1990. What a voice!!! She didn't really need a microphone. And what a presence. She was one of a kind! A truly " great" artist!
Man she's one of the most beautiful women to EVER live.
Phyllis was pure and unapologetically one of the most beautiful and gifted female vocalist of my lifetime...I'm glad I collected her music it's priceless!
So talented and was so beautiful
She was a beautiful, powerful force to be reckoned with. Her talent was legendary.
Everyone have a BLESSED DAY and STAY SAFE
What a Sister! What a Sophisticated Lady! What a Talent! RIP.

she is so gorgeous!!
Her presence is captivating, her voice magnificent. What a powerhouse. I wish I could’ve met her ❤️🕊
And mention that interview felt natural, professional and accurate. Something todays interviews don't even come close.
I saw Phyllis for the first time when I was a kid watching School Daze and I thought she was the total package. She was smart, could sing/act and was drop dead gorgeous no matter what size she was. Unfortunately, the label didn't know how to market her.
Phyllis was an excellent whistler in her concerts, too!
