Myself and my partner went to Turkey for the first time earlier this year, it’s a beautiful place! Your reactions to everything feel familiar 😂 I learned recently there are laws in Istanbul to protect and look after the cats, they are viewed as communally owned pets - how amazing is that. Can’t wait to see Cappadocia! ☺️
Shame they don't feel same about dogs
That's amazing! We came across stations where you can pay 10p to a machine and turn a cog and it drops cat food into a bowl onto the street...for the very reason you say, everyone was doing it

@@RosieC93 I'm Turkish and I agree with what you say, but in our country, there are usually a lot of dog attacks and because of this situation, people are more afraid of dogs, but because cats are elegant, delicate, noble and beautiful, they see cats as babies that need to be protected.
Stumbling into a ‘museum’ is the type of surprise I love about travelling. That and meeting random people. Enjoy guys! ❤️

Janine is Saying it correctly or at least more correctly than the average tourist. I = e sound in Turkish e = I sound in Turkish. estanbul and esmire another Turkish city Izmir
Been to Turkey a few times. My favourite place is Ichmeler near Marmaris, though Olu Deniz was lovely too. Very mountainous with very blue, warm seas.

The living wage out there is terrible (it’s where my family live, I’m half Turkish) and therefore I think the assumption is that tips are a part of the service since they only get paid like equivalent of £2.50 in English pounds.
Lots to digest from this blog. Excellent as always. The hotel guy waiting for his tip and “they are off to do their prayer thing” two of a number that made me smile. Never change you two.

Happy birthday Janine, lovely video I love Turkey, the people are just some of the friendliest kind people. The food is delicious with just the most relaxed atmosphere. If you had a heavier scarf you could have just draped it over your head instead of tying it, usually you should remove your shoes too. Unfortunately the locals do try to entice you into their shops and restaurants but it’s something you get used to and all part and parcel of the experience. Turkish people really are amazing. we once had an airbnb we couldnt find, and we were shuffled from person to person on a street until someone brought us there 🥹. have the most fun! this brought back so many memories.

That was so interesting. We love Turkey and hope to make the journey to Istanbul and Cappadocia at some point. We were going to visit a few years ago but changed our plans to accommodate our friend. We still visited Turkey and had a wonderful time but didn’t manage to get to those two locations. It’s something to look forward to in the future. 😃 I’m sure you will already know but it’s a popular destination for van travel. Courts and Meeks made some great videos when they visited in their van and they’re also vegan. Thanks for sharing another great video.
