Hi! 😊 I’m really glad that you found this video useful. I make videos about this topic because it’s a very important step in getting a perfectly levelled pavers. 👍🏼 Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!!
OMG You are my hero! 😍I love this tutorial. I have watched a lot of videos about leveling and using string but your in depth explanation made me see the light💡😂I like to DIY stuff and did my backyard. My sister loved it so she and my bro-n-law asked me to help them with theirs. I have no idea what I am doing. 🤣I put together this fabulous plan full of ideas and now it's time for implementation and although I have a general idea how to do it, I am missing some key components...lol Your video helped a lot. I have a few questions for you about products. Mostly, I am looking for nice pavers because of course what they have at Lowes & HD is limited. 😒Thank you for making these videos. I love your work and your RUclips channel. 🥰
Sorry for the late response! That’s awesome, thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. I’m glad I’m able to help in any way… that’s the reason I make these videos. 😊 What are your questions regarding the pavers?
Thank you. We have been searching for 24x24 grey concrete pavers, but we are going to spray paint the ones we have. I think supplies are limited in my location. I think I have watched all of your videos probably more than once, and they are helpful. 😁
I appreciate it.. Thank you very much! Great question! No I have not.. what I’m using in the video is not sand, it’s HPB (high performance bedding). It’s a fantastic aggregate for leveling your pavers and it compacts under pressure very well. Which one do you use? I’m curious. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! 👍🏼

Thank you! That’s a great question - companies will typically offer anywhere between 2-5 year workmanship warranty on labour. It covers shifting/sinking of the pavers. Usually it will be repaired if water accumulates on the pavers and doesn’t flow off the pavers leaving puddles. It would have to sink an inch.. If it’s really really minor then no need to repair anything. The warranty would not apply if the damages are caused by tree roots, or animals boring under the pavers, or if someone but the person who installed it has tampered the pavers.it wouldn’t cover anything to do with the polymeric sand or cracked pavers, or weeds growing through. The pavers are under warranty from the manufacturer so if they chip or crack or discolored the client would have to reach out to the manufacturer not the contractor who installed the pavers. Pro tip - to minimize any future repairs, take the extra steps to insure the base is extremely solid and we’ll compacted. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and thanks for the great question 😊👍🏼
Curious if you have an opinion on Stonedust or limestone screenings vs the new 1/4 chip or HPB.... lots of guys saying not to use stonedust because it holds to much water leading to most paver failures.
That’s a great question! I used to use stone dust when I first started and I’ve installed it like that for almost 15 years.. until I tried working with HPB (high performance bedding) and I’m usdt say that I wouldn’t go back to stone dust or any other base material. HPB is amazing for many reasons; it compacts under pressure, no need to compact it before installing pavers. I find that since I started using HPB I’ve have to do less repairs, that’s a win-win for me lol Hope that answers your question! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 👍🏼
Great video im learning step by step im trying to do pavers along side of my driveway how deep do i have to dig and has far as bars how thick of bars do i use ?
Hi and sorry for the late reply! I’m glad the video was useful. The depth of excavation varies depending on where you’re located but generally 1’ is more than enough for a driveway. As for the bars - 1” bars is recommended, this way you can assure that you only have 1” of HPB. Hope this helps 😊
Question: if I bought a house with interlocking pavers - but I don't like the look. Is replacing them as easy as buying the pavers I like, a wet saw and the sand and replacing them?
Hi Hy, sorry for the late response. If it’s a large area I would always recommend hiring a professional to do the work for you but if it’s a small area then you can remove the old pavers, level the area if needed (we have a video for that on our channel) and install the new pavers. You will need screening, polymeric sand, plastic edging with nails (to keep them in place) and a vibrating compactor to properly settle the pavers and sand into the joints. Make sure to sweep the excess sand off the pavers before you wet it ( follow the instructions on the back of the bag). Thank you for the question. Hope that helps you in any way. 😊
The process of leveling is definitely the same but you may want to opt for 80mm pavers rather than 60mm such as the ones in this video. Also, as Chase mentioned - it will require a deeper excavation to support min 12” of base gravel - NOT sand. Crushed 0.3/4 gravel. We recommend compacting it every 4” lifts. Once your gravel is compacted you will add 1-1.5” of HPB to level for pavers (like in this video). Hope that helps! 👍🏼 thanks for watching!
He means the base below the sand base. Your driveway will require a min. of 12” of 0.3/4 crushed gravel and 1”-1.5” of HPB (high performance bedding). Btw: some people call it sand base, screening, HPB.. but it all serves the same purpose. We recommend HPB as it has the best compaction rate. 👍🏼 good luck 🍀
Great question! You start from one side of your walkway and walk on the pavers you just installed.. you keep standing on the already installed pavers. Hope that helps and thank you for your question. 😊 follow me on Tiktok for more tips 👉🏼 Francesco Pettinelli

@@MILTON_STONE so are you using an 8 inch " A "gravel (or clearstone?) base with 1 inch HPB bed on top ? Or is it entirely HPB ?

u can step on the sand as ur placing the pavers
It’s best to stay off the sand base. If you step on it you need to level it again.

Great video, Just wondering what material do you recommend to use for base and bedding & the ideal depth plz?
Thanks! For the base we recommend a minimum of 12” of crushed gravel followed by 1”.1 1/2” of HPB (high performance bedding). Hope that helps . 😊
@@MILTON_STONE TY
Can this type of paver setup be used for a driveway too?
Yes, but you will have to use more base material.

It’s been awhile since I installed these so I don’t recall 100%, but if I’m not mistaken yes, it’s techo bloc, BLU 60mm Colour Shale Grey.

@@MILTON_STONE I’m removing patio slabs and putting down pavers I measured 150 sq feet how much screening do you suggest?
How thick are the pipes and what do you recommend for size of pipe.
Our pipes are 1” thick. You want to use 1” pipes for this so that you can add one inch of HPB or screening and not more.
But won't it go down when u compact it or u just leave it like that
If you use HPB (high performance bedding) over your compacted gravel base then you don’t need to compact it again.
