- Fringemas Day 5. Chowder was a very interesting show on Cartoon Network that left behind a mountain of memes and quotable moments that gave the series longevity beyond its time on TV. So today let's take a look at Chowder and what happened to the show.
Character Art By Jerry Meehan Развлечения
Thanks so much for watching! What other Cartoon Network shows would you like to see on the channel in the future?
Secret Saturdays!
Would love a Flapjack episode :-)
I have some suggestions like Mat Hatter from cartoon network, or Pacman and the Ghostly Adventures and Uncle Granpa.
Calarence
How about Ben 10?
One thing that always amazed me as a kid, even more than the fictional food, was the ever constant patterns on their clothing. Seeing the characters move but the pattern layer stay the same made it feel like a fever dream.
ok what is that art style called
Always kept me staring at the clothes more then the show
I'm so glad I'm not the only person that noticed this. It was so trippy and unique seeing the patterns stay still lol
@@Kuri104 i loved that aspect. Ive yet to see it replicated
That was terrible, weird ugly art style just for the sake of being weird and ugly. This was one of the worst times for cartoon network.
Chowder will never and has never lost it's charm

This and Flapjack were very influential on my humor. Love these shows.
Yess flapjack was my favorite!!
Flapjack gave me nightmares, I don't know why I watched that shit, literally never missed an episode
@@90sprinceofcrime67 It's very surreal and had very great talents behind it.
@@90sprinceofcrime67
Ren & Stimpy gave me nightmares.
I was literally just thinking yesterday, “wow, I hope Jordan makes a ‘Wait… Remember Chowder?’ video” and it’s like you answered my prayers
Wow
Merry Fringe-mas I guess?
@@babakcole4787 it does happen just not for u
Nice very good now he needs too do Kids Next Door in his next video
It's such a shame that Chowder's unique charm and meta humor hasn't been seen in other medias for quite some time now 😔
I’d say gumball is up there but there’s less subtlety
What about Sonic Boom. I'd say that had charm and meta humor.
The Animaniacs reboot? Granted, Animaniacs' meta humor walked so Chowder's can run.......
@@settingittowumbo1953 chowder is better than Gumball any day of the week

All of the textures in this show are so cool! The animation style made it stand out so much compared to a lot of other cartoons at the time :)
IKR?? :D I mostly remember Chowder due to their cool "moving texture" clothes!!~ X3 Everything about this show was such a treat to watch!!~ X3
Same. Plus food. Especially fantastical foods. 🤭
How could anyone forget the iconic show Chowder?! From everyone being food named, the moving pattern style, and the fourth wall breaks, there isn't anything forgettable about the show.
I was OBSESSED with this show back then. I would always try and catch it whenever it was on cause I enjoyed the visuals and the often weirdness that occurs. Definitely one of the best CN cartoons to come out of the late 2000s era and it still holds up to this day....well for me at least
It holds up for me aswell
My family still quotes it. “Pepper Spray? That sounds delicious! AHHHH I WAS WRONG, I WAS HORRIBLY WRONG!!!!”
@@katuni08 love it
Same, I rewatch it recently on Hulu and it’s even funnier now! Definitely still hold up
@@mari_piedra bro what??? They have it one Hulu???? 🥹

Tara Strong as Truffles: What are we gonna do?
“We cant afford it” - probably someone in the cast
The car wash was amazing
If this show ever gets a continuation, we need a character named Wellington voiced by Gordon Ramsay.
@I have 0 likes as much as I live a revival I think it ended better then other cartoons
Oh def.
And his apprentice name Lamb Sauce
@@Goldjade14 he's always tardy. "where is lamb sauce?? he was meant to be here 20 mins ago"
That's a stupid question. Everyone remembers Chowder. It has been memed to hell, lately! Great show, one of the better CN shows of the last 15 years. The last season got a little meh, for me, but for the most part, it was consistently hilarious, well-animated, and well-written.
I’m with you buddy, I agree.
thank you for this.
Yeah it was my childhood favourite next to adventure time and secret Saturdays
@@kyouta6324 No problem my dude
@@michaelmoss9198 Mine too
I could never forget this show. Always has been a fav.
This show doesn't even feel like an "old show I watched once" it just feels like a classic that will never get old.
Also, if you've played The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Dragonborn DLC and you loved Chowder you had the pleasure of hearing Neloth speak for the first time and immediately screaming with joy "MUNG DAAL??" 😂
Chowder was one of my absolute favorite shows as a kid!
Mine too
It was my childhood
I watched it as a teenager I liked it
This was literally one of the most fantastic shows to ever exist
Chowder is one of my favorite cartoons. It always felt SO far ahead of its time with its mix of juvenile and adult humor and the combination of traditional animation and puppetry.
i used to love chowder, i was 10 when it first aired, very creative, unique/outside of the box and funny show with alot of humor, also its really amazing to think of how many shows came from spongebob and its writers: chowder, camp lazlo, phineas and ferb, fish hooks, harvey beaks etc, all branches of the spongebob tree.
And some from Ren and Stimpy.
I hate Spongebob but if it wasn't for him Chowder wouldn't exist so...........eh 😕🤔
I was 6 when it came on and my family would laugh with me while watching
@@aidanbarnes4290 how can u hate spongebob
The funniest episode I will never forget is when Chowder transform into the Sleep Eater.
Mung Daal and Schnitzel got their full cans of A$$ Whooping.🤣
I remember me and my brother watched the episode "Chowder's babysitter" on the CN website and we both chocked on our own laughter. I laughed when Gazpacho made that meat statue of Chowder and my brother laughed when Endive pulled that leprechaun out of the toilet.
We also kept rewinding the scene in "Trouble with truffles" when Truffles yelled at Mung and his face shattered
Awww good times
This show is amazing, number 1 in my book. Met Dwight Schultz in a random diner and he was the nicest guy possible. As much as I'd like to see one more episode, I feel like they couldn't recreate the magic that the original had.
The opening song is the one that I have the most fond of. Quite catchy for its time. Of course the show is also quite 'unique' but very enjoyable. The humour that makes you laugh, the silly shenanigans they had to go through, the crazy adventure they are having, it's just so much fun.
The characters also brings up the show's vibe, making them quite memorable too.
My wife and I adore this show with a passion. We never saw the final season though. So happy about that ending! We've decided to rewatch it and finish it 😁
I remember one time at my old job, I quoted Chowder, and a coworker actually understood it. She told me the only reason she knew about it was cause of her daughter binge watching the show.
I really like the last episode, especially the last few minutes of it after chowder made his dish and everyone liked it. What I like about it is that essentially everybody got what they wanted, gorgonzola finally was able to start bragging to chowder about his success, therefore filling the void that was there while chowder was unaware of passing of time. Same with Panini, she was able to marry chowder and have kids with him. Same with the story with endive and snitzal, endive was able to finally marry snitzal. And, what was mentioned about truffles murdering people and possibly going to jail for it, with her temper and how she's threatened people over the course of the show, I can't say I blame you for thinking that. I wish that they could release the whole dvd box set to the consumer.
that was a perfect series finale episode most cartoon network shows have bad endings but Chowder had one of the best ones ever(until we saw the endings of Adventure time and regular show)
@@aidanbarnes4290 Mmm, true. Although I never did get to see much past 2014 on either show partly because of my slight loss of interest in watching tv, so, I never really got to see either adventure time's or regular shows final episode (especially more so when they aired). What I meant by that, especially the last few words there, I did see the last episode of regular show, but, it was well after it aired on tv. (This can go out to anyone) With what I was mentioning about gorgonzola, I really feel like it was the case that he knew his bragging could finally get feedback from chowder himself and have a conversation about his (gorgonzolas) success.
And Kids Next Door, Foster's, Courage, OG Powerpuff Girls, Ed Edd n' Eddy, Steven Universe, Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, Billy and Mandy, among some others.
This was what aired on tv when I was finally allowed to go home and watch TV after school instead of being forced to go to an after school program. I remember it fondly.
Three things that always stuck out for me with Chowder having only caught it from time to time were the fourth wall breaks, the cool pattern textures, and the use of mixed media. I actually did not know about the last episode, but that sounds really interesting!
Chowder is literally my favorite cartoon of all time it made me laugh in ways other shows couldn't. I just love the random and self aware humor it never gets old
You right🤌🤌🤌
"Remember Chowder?"
It's practically unforgettable! ❤
This show was my best childhood show!!!!!!!!! I find it great that he also helped write the best seasons of spongebob! I really love this artstyle, the unmoving plaid technique is the first thing I've ever seen or heard before for a show!!! Also love how schnitzel's voice actor is freaking bender from futurama!
I always wondered how the animation worked considering the character colors would move different from their outlines.
so psychedelic
It was likely put in on a second layer or even a variant of a green screen
I loved Chowder, it was one of my all time favorite CN cartoons growing up!!!
Of course I remember Chowder; it was one of my favorite Cartoon Network shows as a kid, along with The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack
I absolutely loved this show and was super sad when it was cancelled. Wish it had lasted longer and that all the episodes got a physical release.
I’m really surprised you didn’t mention how amazing the music was. It’s prolly one of the best OST’s to any show ever made… that music complimented the show so well. It was one of the things I looked for to more than the actual show.
One of my all time favorite Cartoons up there with Amazing World Of Gumball, Dexter's Lab, Rocko's Modern Life, Pokémon, The Proud Family, Jimmy Neutron, The Animaniacs, Teen Titans, American Dad, Hey Arnold!, and the original Tom & Jerry.
I really loved this show, and CH Greenblatt’s work in SpongeBob and Billy & Mandy really shone through in it.
If you haven’t already seen Clarence, you should check it out and do a video. Honestly, one of my favorites even though I was in college by the time it aired.
Chowder is an amazing show, literally one of my top five favorite cartoons. I remember when watching boomerang, my parents would turn it off because they said it was too inappropriate.
your parents need to get a sense of humor and so do mine. The wouldn't let me watch Billy and Mandy
damn thats how i know im getting old when chowders playing on boomerang lol.
I always knew chowder just as much as I knew jewel sparkles and Storm E. Sky from the show we’re Lalaloopsy but one thing I love about chowder is when he inflates like when he eats the tootin fruit and expands (The Toots) or the one time him, mung, and schnitzel all got locked in the bathroom and chowder kept getting bigger and bigger (the vacation)
WHO COULD NOT FORGET THIS MASTERPIECE!
I adored the show when I was younger!! I even had the honor of having a group video call meeting with C. H. Greenblatt himself!! It was amazing getting to hear him speak about his experiences in the animation field!!!
THIS fucking show was so good and so memorable.
Chowder gave me my sense of humor, forever in my heart I loved it
I adore Chowder. It played a HUGE part in my childhood, and watching this honestly hit pretty deep for some goofy reasons. Thank you.
There isn't a week that goes by without me thinking about this show, easily among top 5 of my favorite shows of all time and I'm glad you've finally covered it!
YES I WAS HOPING FOR THIS ONE! I fricking loved this show growing up and was rewatching it a bit ago and it still holds up. My implausible dream is to own one of the claymation or puppet segment props to display in my home just because they're all so weird and obscure that I'd be the only one to know what it is.
I loved chowder. It was one of the last cartoons I remember watching before refusing cartoon network as a network. The show was funny and held my attention even as a high schooler at the time of the shows beginnings. Things shows today can't do
I’m so glad I found your channel, you’ve brought back so many memories I didn’t even know existed.
I loved this show so much as a kid. Fortunetly, its creator, C. H. Greenblatt, have recently made „Jellystone!” which is basically bursting with the same energy as Chowder. (Seriously tho, you should watch it, it’s so fun) BTW Maybe Jordan could also make „Wait… Renember Harvey Beaks?” which is another production of Greenblatt.
I especially loved the theme song! You take the moon and you take the sun. You take everything that seems like fun 🎶
You set it all up and then your done. A radda radda radda ra
Chowder is genuinely one of the funniest cartoons I can remember. Everyone should give it a chance
Gotta say, I absolutely love the way you’re doing your ad breaks, it’s honestly really fun
Makes me not mind the ads too much either😌
I love the TV bumps you add to go with the show . Takes me back immediately to the time the shows were on TV
CH Greenblatt is the man I love his work in spongebob
lol this is one of my favourite cartoons *EVER* !! i still watch it to this day
Yes! I have been waiting for you to do a video over Chowder. Thanks for uploading one.
I love your videos so much Jordan Fringe keep up the good work man
I have never and will never forget Chowder, one of my favorite shows of all time
I wore my Chowder hoodie to work once and of of my coworkers looked at it and said "I'm not your boyfriend"
This is one of the best shows it made me laugh every episode, I still say lines from episodes 🤣
Recently re-watched it, so I was pretty hyped when i saw you make a chowder video. :)
The amount of times I have tried to describe the animation for this with the moving patterns 😅😅 it’s difficult lol you did a great job !
I LOVE Chowder!! One of my favorite shows growing up! Out of curiosity did you ever watch a show on Cartoon Network called Hamtaro?
Chowder is such an innocent and sweet young boy! 💗🥺
I love Chowder when it was aired on Cartoon network, but very loved when they making odd food, adventure, and some small jokes. Great show !!!
Chowder is one of those shows I did not see a lot of, but still really enjoy... it's just good and chill, and as someone who likes to cook I sometimes see recipes and I'm like "haha, same name as that guy from Chowder!" it really leaves an impact on your daily life without being obtrusive. Good video!
I will NEVER forget chowder.
Who doesn’t remember Chowder?
Exactly
Nobody, it's too memorable.
it has such a unique style that just never gets old i remember watching it as it aired. I recently started rewatching it and i was surprised how good its held up
This show had such a cool style in animation and voice acting. Great video Jordan!
It sure did! Thanks so much!
God I love chowder, one of the best cartoons ever
I remember telling my friends about how much I loved the way the patterns on their clothes behaved and quickly realizing that I was the only one in my friend group that actually did like it bc all my friends thought it was some cheap, lazy animation trick.
I remember thinking how different it was. As if somethings had an existence all its own.
Yessssss couldn’t wait for this video to drop, well done JorFri ☺️
i’ve rewatched chowder too many times 😂😂😭 i remembered every episode you showed
This is indeed my favorite cartoon of all time. Will be watching the Christmas Special again this year
You're darn tootin I remember Chowder! This show was a master class in the 4th wall.
@Jordan Fringe thanks to you,you are bringing back all of our childhood memories
This was my absolute favorite show as a kid and even to this day I still love it and miss it dearly. I miss those days of coming home from school, turning on the tv, and watching Chowder and loving every second. *sigh* good times.
I very clearly remember Chowder! One of my favourite shows, and made me smilling seeing this in my notifications to watch!
My favourite cartoon. I love the jokes, which I rewatch in youtube clips. I love the animation, very nice to look at. And I love the characters, sometimes I would weirdly relate to them over the weirdest reasons but as a kid it felt like someone understood me.
I live it when you cover shows from my childhood it gives me a big nostalgia feeling
One of my all time favorite shows from childhood. Your review is solid. My takeaway from it is 8:10. "have fun with it".👍🏾
The episode where they ran out of animation budget is probably the best 4th wall break ever to be done.
i remember going to Hot Topic in the Mall back when this show was on and they had SO MUCH merchandise with characters from Chowder on it, shirt, hoodies, hats, bracelets, socks, calendars, metal lunch boxes, glasses and anything else you can imagine being in a shop like that. It was nuts
I have been enjoying this Jordan everyday I have to see if you made a new video and I LOVE Chowder
I am a new subscriber and I am glad I found this channel!
🙌
I think one of the funniest moments is also when Chowder notices the CN logo and Gazpacho says it can't be erased since he's already tried it. The 4th wall breaks in the show were always amazing.
I adored and still rewatch this show from time to time
Great video Jordan. Keep up the great work. Love your videos and personality.
Thanks so much as always for the support!
I’ve been waiting for this moment my entire life
Yes ! The video I was waiting for !
Of course! It's one of those shows you _can't_ forget! Easily one of my favorite shows from CN growing up.
Got it on DVD and watch it streaming as well. Love the bits of suggestive adult humor without beating you over the head with it.
Of COURSE I remember Chowder! 😆 This cartoon got me back into drawing and even getting involved with fandoms.
I adore this show so much and I will rewatch all episodes every chance I get.
Ah this show was so fun re-watching it brings back so much good memories
The art direction is so good. I even thought so when I was a kid
Thanks for bringing up this cartoon. Dont remember much of it, but i dit like this cartoon. :3
I used to watch this show a lot when I was 5 thanks for bringing back memories and can you do a wait remember the Adventures of Kid Danger video?
Somehow the memory of this enjoying watching this show is permanently etched into my soul, yet I can’t remember a single episode in great detail
I think chowder is one of my favorite and most nostalgic shows it’s very funny and oddly comforting with its really weird yet interesting world, the art style also definitely helps with that!
Also I think this show does something great (aside from the obvious) and that’s how each thing they prepare is so interesting or looks fun to eat! Also gotta love all the character designs and personalities!
So glad it's on HBO Max, I do plan on showing this to my kids, it influenced my humor so much and just brought me so much joy as a kid.
This and Flapjack! Chowder was just one of those cartoons I watch late at night with my dad. It was our special bonding time and I'm happy that our humor is still here even in adulthood. It made me cherish these kinds of cartoons that just feel like a fever dream since it expanded my imagination and creativity as a kid.
Chowder is the only show that I can go back and rewatch and never get tired of. Any time I need background noise I steam it so I can have a laugh
