Fun Fact. The first Wikings where germanic from germany, cause germanic people where vicious. even the norse myhology was created and inspired by proto germanic people. gods like Thor and odin originally have germanic names and are germanic gods. ^^
I am proud being a descendant of germany, cause i have germanic blood.
This is gonna be Epic
Can you please react to the movie war of the worlds
The 3rd was the one who brought me to sheer tears. Watching it ever sins I was 6 to then end when I turned 16. *The 3rd is a story about love...and loss*
The scene where Valka thinks Stoic will be angry, but the whole time he's just looking at her like she's the most beautiful thing he's ever seen, is incredible. One of my favorite movie scenes ever, the love he has for her is so beautifully portrayed in the short time they get to share.
I know right? And the fact that she was saying all that proved that it's something she's thought about for the last 20 years. She would've gone through every possible scenario, imagining all his different reactions. I don't think she could've predicted his actual reaction to seeing her again
I agree! The scenes in the ice caves are the best scenes!
I feel like this series does the best job of portraying relationships: I was so happy that Hiccup and Astrid stayed solidly together throughout this movie, and they're was no "breakup and get together" plotline. And the scene with the parents getting back together is one of my favorite scenes in anything ever.
For real. Relationship conflict is such a cheap, easy conflict, and they didn't go for it at all. Hiccup and Astrid are healthy and supportive, and when Stoic and Valka are reunited, he understands why she stayed away and is just happy to have her back (and she's happy to have him back).
I like this movie
I also really loved how they got together in the series. They made it very clear, that they are meant for each other and that they stand together through everything. No pointless arguing, no bad feelings towards each other. A very strong relationship. Like when Astrid lost sight for example and Hiccup was there for her all the time.
Nick: **talks through both commentaries about how much he loves Hiccup and Stoick's relationship**
Me: *o h n o*
I felt so bad for Nick. He's like "Oh they're going to be a family now" and I'm like 😥
But it's okay cause he'll get some wholesome Hiccup and Stoick scenes when he watches the series
@@leahtheanimationfan40 He will watch the series?
@@dm_dude A lot of people suggested it so I think he said he's going to
Yah, lol
I think people that critic Valka forget she’s human who makes mistakes - and was raised in a Viking anti-dragon culture. She has no reason to believe that Stoick- her husband for at least a few years, and someone she’s probably known for a long time before that - would change from being so aggressively anti-dragon. Especially since she herself tried to keep the peace and no one seemed to like her insistence I’m not surprised she decided to just stay away, even if it hurt.
Plus I doubt it was intentional - she probably fell in love with the sanctuary she built and found excuse after excuse not to leave - “oh this dragon is hurt” or “drago did X to this dragon” etc.
Tldr Valka’s fascinating and I love her
Plus she also said she thought it would be better for Hiccup if she didn't come back. Her not being able to get dragons, in her mind, would put him in danger.
I still don't think abandoning your children is excusable but ultimately it's up to him whether he forgives or not
@@jimthecactus7425 same I prefer stoick, he was my favourite character along with hiccup.
I mean how many dada raise children like he did.
How Stoic just forgives Valka always makes me cry.
In the first movie when Stoic gives Hiccup the helmet, he mentions how both his helmet and Hiccup's are a matching set. They are both made from half of Hiccup's mother's breastplate.
That line from the first movie always made me think that his mom was a bigger woman (or, at least, a woman with a bigger chest). Seeing his mom was a bit of a shock--she must have had a lot of extra room LOL (Or maybe they just enlarged the breast plate to better suit being a helmet somehow? I don't know)
@@sammyursula her original designs were of a larger woman! :) i think it’s just a bit of an inconsistency with the storyline
@@sammyursula breastplate usually refers to an entire peace of armour that covers the entire torso
And in the first film it is made partly from her breastplate not an entire thing , you can easily tell this is true because Hiccup’s helmet looks a lot bigger than Stoicks’s
And a woman clearly wouldn’t have one breast being twice as big as the other lmao
@@Ruby-il6zx it's not really an inconsistency, obviously the breastplate was only a part of the helmet. Just think about it, why would a piece of cloth (especially a breastplate) be made of metal?
@@ilyassebenana3824 breastplates were usually made of metal- armour. good point though.
No last words, nothing like that. He just got his family back, and got killed by Toothless. It was just...brutal.
May he rest aside the greatest chiefs in the seats of Valhalla.
I remember when this movie came out, and the Internet lost its collective shit when the shot of Hiccup taking off his helmet was released to show his grown up look. I specifically remember a Tumblr post which said he got "Longbottomed", referring to Neville from Harry Potter who got hot in the last few films, which is more or less what happened to Hiccup
Both went from adorable to handsome
Nick: "This is probably my favorite one cause they get to be together as a family."
*Stoik dies*
Nick: "never mind."
Nick: I'm so happy, they can be a family again!
Every viewer: y e a h . . . ; v ;

The really cool thing I noticed is that Hiccup's scar on his chin has always been there. You can see it in the first movie and in the shows. It's not just something they added for this movie, it's always been there
When this film originally came out, everyone was angry that in the trailers they had spoiled the fact that Hiccup's mother was going to be found because they felt that it spoiled the movie. Then everyone went to the theaters and the thing with Stoick happened. Nobody was ready for it.
Also, fun fact. At the end of the movie in the last dragon race Hiccup puts the black sheep into Astrid's goal to win her the match instead of putting it in his own.
I'm glad no one spoiled the dad's death for you because it is a reveal that was ruined for me, my first time, unfortunately. I'll just say, in my opinion, the third movie is a great conclusion to the trilogy.
The last movie is to me the weakest as I found the villain a bit too one dimensional and kind of a repeat of Drago without the heavy background. Barring this, I still loved it and it is a perfect conclusion to a saga that is ment to show kids (and people) what it is to grow up and having to let go of people, family and friends. One of my all time favorite saga.
It was ruined for me, too.
I had it spoiled for me too (sort of); I was reading a magazine article about how much darker the movie is than the first one, and at one point the writer said it would be “an awkward movie for Father’s Day”, and I thought “Wait, really???”
@@thomasmalet2142 yeah the third was kinda childish
@ Thomas MALET for me I think the villain shows what Hiccup would have become if he did kill Toothless, because he says when he found a night fury he killed it where it slept, I figured the film basically shows just how dark of a path Hiccup would have taken if he did kill Toothless
I love that opening scene with Hiccup and Tootless flying. This is definitely one of the best animated sequels out there.
First time seeing it in theaters was incredible. I wish I could erase my memory of it just to experience my favorite movie for the first time all over again
Dreamworks seems to pull off making good sequels pretty well.
@@jonathanjoyner7816 Indeed they do. The sequel is always better than the first one
I dont know if you noticed but when Hiccup rides Toothless, his movements are very light and smooth but when Drago Bludvist rides Tootheless, he moves very heavily and slow and flaps his wings more often. I think its a nice detail.
The scene where Hiccup is trying to help Toothless get rid of mind control was very, very touching) It, and all the ending after really shows their long-grown friendship like never before, now mixed with leadership)))
"It wasn't your fault, bud. They made you do it. You'd never hurt him. You'd never hurt me. Please you are my best friend, bud. My best friend." 😭
Leah The Animation Fan Aww!
That's why I don't like the third movie very much, and I'm not going to say more than that because of the spoilers
@@MK-sw7do it would be very immature of you to not like the movie because of that
The big theme of this movie was the different between demanding obedience and earning loyalty, and it does it perfectly.
It was rather ruling by fear vs ruling by respects by loyalty.
Drago and Hiccup are both leaders but very different in nature.
"Men who kill without reason can not be reasoned with."
Dropping facts.
Everytime he mentions how he loves Hiccup and his dads relationship, a knife goes into my heart. I always cry when he dies and then at the funeral.
Stoick: "Takes more then a little fire to kill me!:
Toothles: ...👁👄👁
Well he's not wrong. Toothless shoots plasma.
@@JiReyAnimation ...Plasma is a sort of fire, Plasma is a fire thats heated up to a degree that it becomes purple-ish blue.
@@deranged_dragon9471 yes but it's a huge difference from a little fire. It's like getting hit with a flamethrower and getting hit by lightning. You can put out the flames of a flamethrower, getting hit by lightning is instant death.
@@JiReyAnimation well, All I'm saying is my point still stands, Its still fire.
@Renato Barros ...I'm very confused by this statement, But sure
gosh its been 7 years already... damn
thats fuckn crazy
This is my favorite movie in the trilogy, I really like Hiccup coming to terms with becoming chief and it's also just so emotional with Stoic dying and them sending him off to Valhalla
Stoicks sacrifice
Nobody:
Nick: tears up a little
Me when I was 7: asking for tissues for the entire scene
Aww! That scene made my mom cry, too.
Me when I was 20: bawling my eyes out in the theater from Stoick's death through the end of the movie.
Fun fact: there's an alternate version of the scene where Drago attacks Valka's mountain. Valka actually thinks that Hiccup and Stoick intentionally lead Drago to her and turns on them, setting her bewilderbeast on them
I'm glad they didn't go that route!
Wow never knew that, will definitely have to watch that if I can find it haha.
Was that included in the “Deleted Scenes” section on the Blu-Ray and DVD release?
With that storyline, it was also planned that with this whole thing, Valka also became an antagonist, along Drago in a way. And it was planned for her to die, just like Stoick, that was planned then too ; but they thought it would be too cruel to leave Hiccup without any parent, and that Valka being a villain didn't really bring anything interesting to the whole thing. So they scrapped it in favour of what we have now, which I believe is so much better in all the ways.
Really!? I’m glad they didn’t go this route. I have heard the Valka was planned to be an antagonist, so this idea would’ve made sense for that plot line, but not in the version that we got. I’m glad they changed not only the scene but the whole character of Valka.
Now that's a true alpha. He feeds the pack instead of the pack stealing food to feed its lazy ass like in the first one.
Dreamworks really said Hiccup can only have one parent at a time with this😒
"I was so afraid of becoming my dad, mostly because I thought I never could" is such a good line
This movie is so amazing because it teaches two valuable lessons: 1) Some people truly cannot be reasoned with, keeping an open mind and trying is good, but sometimes you might still meet deaf ears and hostility even after explaining yourself and 2) there is a big difference in what we want to be and who we have to become as adults, the duty towards our families and friends is what makes us strong and although sometimes we would initially prefer not to grow into these roles, we often realize that it's mainly fear that held us back in the beginning.
I remember seeing this movie for the first time and being in complete denial. (Spoiler alert if you haven't watched the video yet!!)
When Stoik was killed I was convinced he wasn't actually dead, just knocked out real bad and that he'd come back and save the day at the end. Even when they had the funeral for him I was like "damn, I wonder how they'll bring him back from that!" It wasn't until they rolled the credits that I realized, or allowed myself to realize that he actually died! He had just gotten his wife back, it's too sad!
It's okay Nick! A lot of kids had their comfort movies that they rewatched! There were a fair amount that I never saw until after drinking age! I totally get it! I'm glad you're getting to enjoy them now!
I watched Dumbo, Bambi, Cinderella, Robin Hood, Mary Poppins, Pocahontas, Toy Story, and other Disney movies a lot as a kid. But I didn't see some of the other ones like Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, and Mulan until I was like 10. I didn't see Atlantis until I was 12 or 13 and I watched Treasure Planet for the first time when I was 17. Some movies you just don't get around to seeing but watching them as an adult is different so I love watching people react to movies for the first time
@@leahtheanimationfan40 Same here! There are some old classics that I didn’t see until later! I didn’t watch Fox and the Hound, Bambi, The Black Cauldron and The Sword in the Stone until I was 22 😂
@@toria0214 Bambi was one of my favorites. I watched The Sword in the Stone a few times as a kid, though we never owned it. We used to borrow movies from our neighbors and I think I forst watched thatbone when I was 7 or 8. I didn't watch The Black Cauldron until I was 17. I was curious about some of the Disney movies that I hadn't seen
When he pushes toothless away I ALWAYS CRY I have this need to hug my dog and tell her I'll never push her away TT_TT
i cant give enough credit to Gerard Butler for his voicework to give us probably the best animated father since Mufasa. Seriously, his role in both HttYD and this movie was amazing. the character was written to be an uninteresting, authoritarian father figure, but he brings such a passion and personality to the role that its just great.
"HICCUP!!!!!"............"DAD!!!"..........."SON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".............BOOM..........
The song that plays when we first see hiccup and toothless flying makes me feel so nostalgic as if I was flying in the sky on a dragon. I love it.🥺💙
I think HTTYD2 is my absolute favorite from the trilogy; the first is amazing and the third is great, but 2nd is really just something so special and moving.
We all had to wait 4 years for the sequel and another 5 for the conclusion! It was worth it!
i seriously love watching your reactions in particular because unlike a lot of other people, you're so invested and excited about what's happening and its very clear in your face! you dont just sit there blank-faced staring at the screen and are actually giving commentary on how you feel, not just "guys this just happened" as if the viewer didnt see the screen themselves
I always get emotional listening this soundtrack, it’s so beautiful. I cried so much in this movie when I first watched. And also all the other times. And now.
Seeing this in the theater my husband and I were both bawling, him because of Stoic, and me because Hiccup blamed Toothless and yelled at him.
If this film made you cry, you'll probably need a box of Kleenex for THW!
I bawled my eyes out when I watched The Hidden World
@@leahtheanimationfan40 SAME! T^T
I knew you'd cry so much when hiccup's dad dies (because who wouldn't) This might be my favorite movie out of the 3. I really love the emotion, and hiccup's and toothless' relationship is just amazing. The third movie is a bit different, so I'm really interested to see what you think about it. I'm still just glad that you're enjoying these movies, love the 45 minute reactions
The series are also somewhat different to the movies, but they're fun to watch. There's a lot more interaction with different kinds of dragons (and lots of new type of dragons you don't see in the movies) and the training and all that, so I do think you'd be interested in them
I also love the character development in the series. Instead if just being comic relief side characters, the other dragon riders get their own episodes and I love how a lot of times, they split up so you get to see different character interactions that are just so fun to watch like Snotlout with Hiccup, Astrid with Fishlegs, and anyone with the twins is always hilarious
One of my favorite reactions of yours so far! Can't believe you did a 45 minute video for this one as well! Love how long you make some of these.
definitely preferred the final act of this over the first but I preferred the emotions of the first, while he finds his mother in this it always feels like its just a "welp here it is, move on" compared to the growth that took place with both toothless and stoic in the first.
I thought the family relationship in this was beautiful, but I respect your opinion.
31:41 “I don't know, I might just like this movie a little bit more than the first just because he found his mom and now they're all a family. I just-I'm so happy about that." 😳 Who's gonna tell him? 😶 I guess the movie will in 3...2...
It was originally planned for Gobber to die instead of Stoick but Steven Spielberg suggested to change it to make it more impactful for Hiccups journey
hey, i only found your channel a few weeks ago but i’ve literally binge watched allll of your videos - just want to say your perspectives and explanations are always so wholesome and positive and well thought out! keep up the lovely work!!
Thanks so much glad you like them!
Let’s go! This is my favorite httyd movie
Yes i also like this movie brother
Same!
I remember just stopping the movie for 20 minutes to just cry and complain and get mad over Stoic's death. I didn't really cope well with it lmao. This series is just like its protagonist - very brave. They were not afraid to cut off Hiccup's leg in the FIRST MOVIE. They were not afraid to kill Stoic in the second one, probably at the point where he was one of the most loved characters. And they were not afraid to do what they did in the 3rd movie. Which is what always made this awesome. The story is not always super predictably happy for everyone, not everyone goes as it should, but that's life and we can still make the most of it.
My favorite movie of the trilogy, definitely. I love everything about it. I watched the trilogy again a month ago and i was crying all the time between the second and third movie haha. I'll probably cry again now, let's see.
I know exactly what scene that thumbnail is referring too😂😂
This is my favorite of the trilogy, and from the moment Stoic sees Valka to the end credits I am in tears
11:51
Nick: "But they have Toothless..."
Me, while watching the whole trilogy around 10 times: "You will regreat this..." (becouse Toothless kills Stoick)
What really gets to me during this movie, whenever I watch it, is the fact that Eret, Son Of Eret shot an arrow with the others, respecting a chief that was never his.
Haven't seen you get this emotional in a while. Completely justified though, I bawled so hard when Stoic died, he was such a great chief!
The more you cried the more I cried! I can't stop being emotional for the death of the father 😢 I love your reaction as always
YESYESYES I've waited for this reaction!!!:D I love you so much!!
Peter Pan 2003 is one of the most underrated I've seen and one of my personal rewatch. Idk about the others tho
You’ve probably noticed by now, but Toothless is way smarter than the other dragons. He’s shown to use strategy and the environment in a way that other dragons don’t - his species is one of the most intelligent (which helps them be one of the most dangerous).
Really enjoyed your reactions. The friendship between Toothless and Hiccup is one of my favorite parts, too. And I always appreciate the extra thought they put into the world, like the descriptions of the dragon species.
Btw the movies are actually based on a book series, though aside from how the dragons look and the Vikings they’re pretty much almost completely different. I’ll be eagerly watching more of your reactions :)
Can’t wait to see you watch the third movie of how to train your dragon 3.
.... the THIRD movie of httyd 3...... 🤔🤔🤔
It was hinted at in the series on Netflix that Hiccup is kind of responsible for the Great Bewilderbeast to even be alive.
Stoick’s Death in How to Train your Dragon 2 is still the saddest death in any animated film/show for me personally, because I became so emotional invested in his character over the years. I saw the first movie and all of the Dragons: Riders of Berk episodes and watched his character progress from hating dragons to having one of his own. Then I saw the second movie 4 years later and watched him reunite with his wife after he thought he had lost her forever. He was so happy that his family was finally back together again, then moments later he died trying to protect what he had just gotten back. And on top of that Drago forced Toothless to kill him, and Stoick had accepted Toothless into his family and the last thing he saw was him jumping in front of a blast protecting his only son from dying to his best friend… That broke me. He was a great man, a warrior, a chieftain, a father, a friend.
*Rest In Peace Stoick Haddock the Vast. Your legend and sacrifice will never be forgotten.*
When watching this the first time, i lost a gallon of tears when Stoick died
wow, I'm impressed with how many viedeos you upload!!! :)
Haha thanks, have a lot more free time now!
22:33 I like how the bewilderbeast is the complete opposite of the red death in nearly everything. The only things they had in common were that they were dragons and were big. One took food from dragons and the other one feed the others. Love it! =^~^=
I love this movies so much! can't wait to see your reaction of the third one!!!
I definitely was as upset about Stoic's death as I was with Mufasa's death. but the fact that Toothless was used is such a low blow... Draco is a cold hearted ruthless jerk! I think you'll love the tv series, cuz all the development of each of the relationships is great! you see hiccup and astrid's frendship grow, how stoic warms up to it all, the rivalry between viking tribes... but yeah, my heart broke a bit when you talked about how much you loved stoic and hiccup's relationship... 😭
I really love your videos, the way you connect with the film is notorious on your face, and how you feel and feel in the film makes me feel that way too. 😊
If I remember correctly this movie came out around Father’s Day and when we went with my dad we were devastated at the end 😢
I live for your reactions, Nick! you're so wholesome and genuine
Could you also react to the Kung Fu Panda Trilogy since it's also made by Dreamworks.
Plan on it!
@@nickflix8657 Awesome!
Stoick singing and dancing with Valka had me smiling the first time I saw this. I had so much hope... Every single time since, that song just about breaks me. Knowing *that* moment is coming so soon after, it hurts to see them finally finding one another after 20 years. But for all the pain the song causes me, I'll listen to it again and again.
Drago being voiced by Idris Elba was fantastic. He does a fantastic villain, and nails all the vocal tones. And Drago is a perfect dark version of Hiccup. He lost his arm where Hiccup lost his foot, and where Hiccup understands and learns how to connect with dragons, Drago secretly fears them and uses brute force and intimidation to cow them into submission.
This was my favorite of the trilogy, hands down. Again, this was one of the rare ones that kept the quality high from start to finish. The TV series, I haven't seen, so I can only guess at, but I imagine it's at least pretty good.
28:19 *nervously laughs*
me @ dreamworks: you kill him. the guy reunites with his wife after 20 years, and you kill him.
I just subscribed and wow your reactions are so genuine and wholesome. Loving the content !!
If you were wondering how Valka recognized Hiccup when they first met, there is a small scar on his chin, and during the flashback showing how Valka was taken you can see Cloudjumper give Hiccup said scar, and yes, this scar is present in the first movie too! The amount of thought that went into these movies is insane, I think you're going to love the third one, bring a box of tissues cause you're gonna need them.
I love watching movies with you. ^^ You get as emotionally invested as I do, and appreciate the same things I do. 🥰
Everytime I rewatch this movie, I can never not be surprised at the death of the white Bewildered (?) Beast. It was so shocking the way they show its death that I forget it's a kids' movie. And then it whip me again with Stoic's death. What a movie!
Speaking of dragons: please watch "The Neverending Story"!
Great timing nick, just as I just got off my fast!
So excited for the third one ❤️❤️❤️
You look so happy and full of wonder during this reaction!
Earlyyyy so glad you reacted to this😁
I love that Toothless is responsible for Stoicks death, that’s something other animation studios wouldn’t have the guts to do.
i love your reaction bc that was me but i was crying the whole movie and idk why omg, honestly, httyd1 and 2 are by far my favorites movies (btw sorry for my english!)
Fun fact time! Eret son of Eret (dude that tries to capture Stormfly and Toothless near beginning) is none other than the actorthat portrayed Jon Snow in game of thrones. He actually did a few special promos with Toothless. They're actually pretty funny. Just look up httyd 2 kit harrington promos.
Also never be afraid to shed those tears. I've seen this movie countless times and cry everytime Stoic dies. I was a tearful mess right along with ya.
Facts. that opening score is so good
I don't know if you noticed, but when Hiccup throws the black sheep into the net, he actually throws it into Astrid's so she'll win the game. He also has a Deadly Nadder symbol over his heart, which is what Astrid's dragon is. Just a bit of cute trivia for you there.
Another thing I want to say that I'm glad I didn't see an immediate "I hate this dragon" when it came to Drago's Bewilderbeast from you. Most people automatically hate him way more than even the Red Death (the large dragon from the first movie) because of what happens with Stoick, but they don't know why he does what he does, so it adds to the heartbreak. His story is actually incredibly sad. Even though he's huge and can crush Drago if he wanted to, he's terrified of him because Drago hatched and raised him himself using torture and abuse. There's a reason he's scared of Drago's staff (you can actually see that when Drago loses his staff in the battle on Berk, the Bewilderbeast isn't as quick to follow his commands) and there's a reason it's a bullhook; it was what Drago used to "train" the Bewilderbeast as it grew up. He never met anyone like Hiccup or the people of Berk, so he doesn't understand what kindness, love, and mercy are. You can even see him look just a little bit surprised after Stoick dies because it's the first time he's ever someone love another so much that they're willing to die for them.
I appreciate you. I love this movie and I love watching reactions BUT I feel like most reactors edit out their crying. the face you felt emotions 100% got me to feel like I did when I first watched it. Which tbh is the reason I like watching reactors. so thank you. thank you so much.
