I almost changed my major cause of chemistry but thats quitting ugh i have more chemistry ahead of me thank you. Was so hard because I've never had a chem. class before college.

I haven't taken a chem class since middle school and I am 25 now. Trying to figure out how to best prepare myself for this semester. Did good in anatomy and bio. Now chemistry

This is great advice!! I am 26 and going back to college this fall to start a chem degree. Being smart is one thing, but really putting in the time and effort to study and practice is what gets you the high grades. I have two months till classes start so I am getting prepared early.
You’re literally sooo stunning. This video is great I just got my schedule for my freshman year term and I have 3 science classes (I’m a biology major) I’m really nervous cause one of them as you can guess is Chemistry and I’ve never took chemistry before! I’ve heard it’s hard so I’m nervous but this video definitely eased my nerves a bit💕💕 new sub here!
Hello Kyeisha! I just subscribed to you today and hope to follow in your shoes becoming a RUclipsr, model, and a Vet Technician/Veterinarian. Man let me tell you, I got a C in Chemistry 305 last year in the fall and currently taking Chemistry 400 General Chemistry and currently have an F in it. I feel so down today and just want to change my major. I know I can't think like that and can become whatever I want. It's hard work yes. I just want to succeed in life even get great grades in everything as taking a Computer Science class. I just feel everyone is smarter than me in Chemistry and I'm just the one falling behind. Hi Kyeisha! Thank you so much for making this video! Thanks to your video, I had the courage to start taking Chemistry to begin my pre-med journey. With all of the negative rhetoric surrounding taking chem in college (that gave me SO much anxiety), you have no idea how much I needed to see a fellow young black woman like me encouraging me to know that it is possible for me to not just “survive” but even get an A in ALL the chemistry sequences, and by the grace of Almighty God I did!!!🥳🎊 It isn’t so bad after all! I love chemistry so much and through my prayer life, the Lord helped me study for my courses in a better way that helped me perform so well. Chemistry is so difficult for me but I also feel like I could have done better if I studied more. I didn’t know how to study effectively when I first started college and bombed it so hard.

What books shouldi be reading fbefore i take my college classes for chemsitry and microbiology?
not sure how this applies to me. I didnt take any chem in high school.it's kicking my butt right now trying to keep up
if you see this, what is your time management like? can you get decent 7-8hrs of sleep if you’re going full time with a BS in chem?

did you find studying for orgo in groups helpful or did you mainly study solo?
I did a mixture of both! I usually studied alone during the week while I was reviewing after class. But loved studying in groups for exams. I would even team up with a classmate and we would write synthesis questions for each other and swap. Or I would take to the whiteboard and take turns writing mechanisms with my friends! Group studying helped so much!

Could I take Anatomy&Physiology 2 and Chemistry together?
Absolutely! It’s common to take a biology and chemistry course together, just take the necessary steps to prepare for the courses
What if your exam is in 5 days and you just watched all the review videos, do you think 5 days of practice problems, going over what you don’t know with a tutor would be considered constructive? I know it’s cutting it close to the deadline but any hope?
Hey! It’s starting to cut it close but you can do it! Start on practice problems as soon as possible and yes highlighting what you don’t know and going over it with a tutor sounds like a great idea
@@kyeishalaurence1630 yes one of the tutors is doing a synthesis boot camp, and Friday one of the TA is going over practice exams A and B, idk if I should rewrite my notes before practicing the problems
I start this class in a week and it feels like impending doom 😆😆
How about the labs we don't get a class explaining this how do ppl survive?
For labs, I suggest typing out your procedure ahead of lab, this helps you be prepared and ensures you have read through what you will be doing in lab. Next, I went to office hours every week and worked with the TA's on the post-lab questions - this was crucial. As far as studying for exams I re-solve all post and pre-lab questions and make sure I understand what we did and why we did it.
Lab exams were some of the hardest chemistry exams, harder than the lecture exams sometimes - at least at UMD there was a large curve (my 75 in orgo 2 lab became an A-), I would just ask someone who took the class before how the exams are and how the curve is so you don't stress out too much. Focus on getting as many points on the lab reports in case the exams are hard.

Do you believe that I should take Orgo 1 and 2 before taking Gen Chem 2?
You can not do that . General Chemistry I and General Chemistry II are the prerequisite for Organic Chemistry I and prerequisites for Organic Chemistry II
Even if you are allowed to, I would advise against it as taking General Chemistry builds a foundation for Orgo.
Chemistry Isn’t hard because its hard…its hard because its here is a shitload of information that gets dumped on you by professors that are too smart for their own good and cannot teach it at all…
Should I take intro to bio and general chemistry together??
I think you should! As a pre-med or bio major you’ll have to take Chem and bio classes in the same semester, so getting used to it with your intro class will be good practice before the more challenging courses
@@kyeishalaurence1630 do u think I should take chem and calc together? Bc orgo doesn’t have lab so I was thinking of taking that orgo with bio bc bio has labs and orgo doesn’t. Should I take calc with chem Bc my school said to take calc and chem and not bio and chem

@@gabriellej2963 Cell Biology & Genetics, personally freshman year I took Bio, Gen Chem 1 and Calc in my spring semester, my advice is to look at your four year plan, if you can take only chem and calc for example and it works out then go for it! But if not taking the intro bio class means you end up with having to take multiple bio classes later on in college then maybe consider taking the class
