Hey guys! I hope you enjoyed some of these study tips. These tips are really just summarized of how I "approached" studying for these classes. I think the most important thing to determine when starting to study for a new class is "What is hard about this class?" and "What is the functionality of what I am learning?". I think this really guides your studying. Overall, I am biased towards active recall and practice questions because those have been the most effective methods for me! Whether its biology, biochemistry, chemistry, organic chemistry (o-chem), or physics- there is always an effective study strategy for you! For those of you in your pre-med journey... KEEP ON PUSHING THROUGH! It will all be worth it in the end :)

My organic chem professor literally told the class day 1 that to do well you had to do every single problem in the textbook and boy was he right. Practice questions really are key. I literally had so many pages and did hundreds of questions.
precisely how you excel in any course. practice questions.
I did better in Ochem than I did in Gen chem😂 organic always seems intimidating, but for those who haven’t taken it. I suggest the best way to study is to know your periodic table and understanding the basics. Also tutoring helps if you have access to it!!
I think active recall + spaced repetition is the key for all subjects in college (and beyond)!!
I used the khan academy thing for Ochem from a video you did awhile ago and ended up getting As in both, thanks for the advice!
Ayeeee that is awesome to hear! Congrats on acing O-chem!! :) I am always so surprised by how many people haven't heard of Khan Academy!
Man this is so helpful! I’m sure everyone’s going to get such great value out of this. Especially the advice on OChem. On behalf of everyone, THANKS SHAUN!!
AHHHHHH thank you so much! :) That makes me so happy and means a lot to me! If anyone has additional questions, please feel free to reach out to me!
First year pre-med here! And I’m super excited thank you for this video !
This is exactly the advice I need, before I start my premed journey this fall. Thank you so much!
yoooo best of luck on your premed journey! You are going to do amazing! :)
@@ShaunAndersen Thanks dawg
@@ShaunAndersenhi! I’m also starting this fall and was wondering how you take notes?? Is it with a laptop, iPad, paper, or something else? Thanks!
I am much older than you, I took Biology years ago and I find that its easier to learn than something like Chemistry. Chemistry is another language all by itself, but in time, I learned to appreciate. But studying every day is key!!!
as a first year pre-med student, i found this video to be very helpful!! Thanks Shaun!!
Awesome RJ! :D I am so glad! You are going to do great in Pre-Med!
howd ur 1st year go? im going to my 1st this fall
@@RichObiQuan it went well! def a lot of work but overall it went well:)
Hey in pre med do all the students do general courses or
I’m really struggling with general chemistry. Thank you for the tips!
Fantastic, easy-to-implement tips and resources. So unbelievably useful. Thank you for this!
You sound so intelligent! Its so nice u help the students! I'm sure u help them a lot. Plus help us who have no idea what all u guys have to go through. Very interesting. Have a great week! 😊
I am just happy to share my advice based off my experiences! :D We all have different paths/ways of doing things but sharing our experiences is important so that others aren't re-inventing the wheel! :) Have a great week Sherry!
When I took the chemistry classes we had a study group of 4 of us with different strengths I taught them the math they taught me the formulas and together we did well with the class
Not a premed student. But an advice for doing physics is to leave everything in variable form and plug in numbers at the very end. Andrew Dotson has a great video with other useful tricks when first starting out with physics: ruclips.net/video/ZWgH4lSW1X0/видео.html
Manipulating variables instead of plugging in numbers is underrated. It lets you see cancellations and makes it easier to do dimensional analysis at the very end (making sure that the units make sense for your answer) and edge cases (for example in an inclined plane problem. If the angle of the incline is 0 degrees, the x component of the normal force should be 0. since this is not true for the equations i have when i plug in theta = 0, i know my work is wrong). And lastly, physics is hard for everyone. Don't give up.
It's good to hear that it gets better! Thanks for the encouragement
Omg amazing video! Thank you for this!!
You’re so welcome! :)
Super helpful!! Thank you!!🙌🏽🙌🏽
I'm so glad! :D You are very welcome!! :)
Nice and short. Is it ok you recommend books in these subject areas please?
Thank you for the information!
As soon I finish orgo forever you post this video😂. Barely passed but I’m glad I’m done!
OMG I am so sorry 😂 but congrats on being done!!
Watching this the hour before my AP Physics 2 Exam Lol
Oh my goodness! 😱 I wish you the best of luck! You are going to do great!
wow this is helpful for me as I'm going to college next year!!! THanks Shaun!
You’re so welcome!! :) you are going to do amazing in college!!
@@ShaunAndersen Aww thanks Shaun! It means so much to me
Thank you so very much!
Great video!!! Definitely going to be using these methods in the future
Awesome!! :) Glad it was helpful!
Hey thank you so much, i really needed this❤️
You're so welcome!! :)
Yes! I love these vids!! Definitely helpfulll
Ahhhh yay!! :) That makes me so happy!
please make more undergrad advice vids
I definitely can! :) Any topics in particular you are interested in hearing more about?
@@ShaunAndersen mainly advice for extracurriculars and putting yourself out there. pacing to make sure you meet all your required classes and making sure you build an adequate resume for med school. essentially just advice for the blueprint of navigating undergrad:)
Its been over 10 years that i left school. I am actually looking for recommended books and online materials to prepare and study for the premed subjects; Biology, Chemistry & Organic Chemistry. Any suggestion would be highly appreciated. Thanks guys.
Dude great video! I’ve really been struggling trying to learn material at Auburn here lately but I’m going to apply these study methods this summer. Could you post more undergrad videos like this one? I feel like I can connect with you a lot better than some of the other channels here on RUclips. Specifically like how to use anki and making good flash cards for active recall. Thanks brotha keep up the good work!
THANK YOU
You're so welcome!! :)
So helpful!!
I love your videos!
Ahhhhh thank you so much!! :) That means a lot to me!
Can you do one specifically for biology?
How did you memorize cellular respiration? I am struggling
I don't need this video since I live in a different content and already studying dentistry but watched to support the channel. When will your semester end and will you stream more or consistently on twitch when youre done?
I’m starting college this fall and majoring in biology to become a doctor or physician assistant. I’ve realized that there isn’t really any anatomy classes if i major in biology. So i’m thinking about majoring in kinesiology and minoring in biology. Do you think this could work? Would it prepare me for med school/ PA school? and would it prepare me for the MCAT if i decide to take it?
Thank you 😄
You're so welcome! :)
please is there any online course for pre-med
Wow this guys good
Sorry couldn’t watch your video early Shaun! I had to go to school today instead of online school because I am doing my final exam for the year!!!!, just about one more month, I will be in summer break then start school again!. LOL
Hey Genius!! :) that is awesome that you are able to go to school in perfect! I hope you crush your finals and have an amazing summer 🙌🏻
Hi Shaun, what advice would be helpful if you’re a premed student who’s stuck on biology. What studying habits would be preferable for exams? I ask because I’m taking biology this year and the exams have been my only problem by far.
I still get nightmares from action potentials 😂
Hahaha action potentials are always one of those things I have learned so many times but always have to re-learn after like 2 months! xD
How did you prep for CARS?
I did Jack Westin!
Hello Shaun very nice brooo 😃👍☝️
Thank you so much! :D
@@ShaunAndersen thank you too shaun
We learned about the Krebs cycle and most of the things you talked about in grade 11. Ethiopian education isn't right
We also learn about it in high school! But it is refreshed in college and goes a bit more in depth and is especially important once you are in med school!
1000th like
🤓🤓🤓
Orgo is the most useless subject after physics lol.
I don't remember anything from either class :P
Why is it a requirement then?
@@maraisfan4life517 The AAMC likes to keep adding requirements since the applicants get smarter every year I guess. Bunch of boomers on the board with nothing else to do.
Thank you so much ❤️
