Renfield Reaction (From a Universal Horror Expert!)

My Uncle Carl Laemmle started Universal Studios, and he and his son Junior Laemmle are responsible for making the Universal Monster movies we know and love today - Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, and the Bride of Frankenstein among others. I've become something of an expert on the topic, making videos about this history on my channel, and sharing what made the movies and actors stand the test of time.
Renfield is a 2023 Universal horror/action/comedy movie starring Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult. It's produced by Chris McKay and features Awkafina and Ben Schwartz. In Renfield, Dracula's loyal servant must secure bodies for Dracula to feast on. The film opens with Renfield at a support group for people in toxic relationships, though he's not there to unpack his own dynamic with Dracula - he's there to prey on the villains in his group mates stories. As the movie unfolds, Renfield does a little self-reflection and finally sees his own toxic relationship for what it is.
There's plenty to love and plenty to NOT love in this movie, so keep watching to get my full, unfiltered opinion, plus a pretty strong message to Universal.
