One of the songs that make me emotional 😢 when i listen to . I can relate how its hard to do anything if you don't have job or money........ You dignity as man is trample on by society
Repose en paix papa Simaro. Comment rester insensible avec de telles mélodies ? Impossible! Tu était unique, incomparable, indestructible. Poète tu méritais cette appellation. Paix éternelle à ton âme "mosimonindo".
I am listening to this great composition now and I am lost for words, as we wait to bury Simaro. These guys were nothing but legends. Papa Ndombe... Ooh Papa Ndombe.
What do i say about OK jazz surely, i have no words to suit the way i love OK Jazzzzzzz!. OK jazzzzzz mambo yote. Peter Lichungu, upo lakini mtu wangu!!, Kula ngoma!!!!
I love both versions because they are both great singers and Jo Mpoyi sung it as just Pepe Ndombe was singing. I have now both version and I am happy. This is a result of great work. Period.
And Sam Mangwana sang it too. All the versions are powerfully delivered by these artist. Whoever talks of African poverty doesn't know we are blessed.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have a deep feeling Mbongo was composed for live performance. On listening to only the audio version and then in comparison the video clip version, this has reinforced my stand even the more. Just look at Micehlino @4:30 where one has the feeling the guitar is part and parcel of Michelino’s body. I’ve never watched Michelino im such a frenzy before. And soon I will get to a point to declare Michelino the best African guitarist after Dr. Nico.
Franco chose the people who made up his Band very carefully. It is difficult to decide who was the best quietest at any given period. All were good.Dont forget DIZZY Mandjeku
This is what I meant in my earlier remark that RHUMBA is appreciated more when voice output is matched by that of the backing instruments i.e.no monotony of the other.
Presence of djo mpoy, dombe opetum ,dalienst, diatho lukoki, wuta mayi ,josky just to mention a few at the vocals.Gerry ,and mpudi DECA the lethal bassist and the trombonist, randot kasongo.the list is endless. Don't joke, the music had been played.
at 0:04 is it young sam mangwana? never get tired listening to this beautiful song of the 70s the trumpets and the forlon lead guitar takes me back to those good old days
AboubacarSiddikh would you be knowing the person playing the sax solo at the beginning and towards the end of the djo mpoyi version.. the one with the fake applause.? Could it be Empopo? Thanks
In my humble opinion, Djo Mpoyi interpreted this song so much more beautifully, embodying the voice of the poor man looking for someone who can show him how to make money.
Before this show, was there any recorded version? Otherwise I would say that it was worth waiting for Joe-Mpoy to join TPOK to present the song the way he did.
+sulemopepe Sule I think this was 1-2 years before they recorded version with Djo Mpoyi. Perhaps Ndombe just left before they had a chance to record it. Whether that's fortunate or not, remains to be seen, not everybody may agree with you. But count your blessings having both versions.
Ndombe Opetum on vocals does justice to this composition....so does Michellino on the lead...and one can not just leave out the entire Team!!!
good master piece of rumba. I was 17years old when I first listened to this music. oyeh tpok jazz band

Fantastic. The song is about money, called Mbongo in Lingala. A classic example of how money has messed this world.

Thierry Mantuika
Michelino Visi
Simaro Massiya &
Mpudi Decca
Save for Maïtre Luambo Makiadi, the finest guitar lineup of the time.
Aaaahhh ba papa musique botikela biso ekoma yakoswana ferré na fally

Is this Peter Lichungu the footballer (AFC Leopards)?
I love both versions because they are both great singers and Jo Mpoyi sung it as just Pepe Ndombe was singing. I have now both version and I am happy. This is a result of great work. Period.
Where can I get the Pepe Ndombe version online?
And Sam Mangwana sang it too. All the versions are powerfully delivered by these artist. Whoever talks of African poverty doesn't know we are blessed.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
These were wizards in music even the flow of beats n the guitar is above anything have heard..
Sincerely speaking it is a masterpiece.
Superb stage arrangement, with all pistons (departments) firing at full throttle; the guys are cool, delivering with confidence!!!
De la très bonne musique
Oooooohhhhh mbongo oza wapi
STILL RINGING THE AFRICAN MUSIC FOREVER! I KNOW SAM MANGWANA VERY WELL!
Love this version from Pepe Ndombe

True....michellino guitar....is what makes me repeatedly watch this...

Fantastique chanson j'adore
Old music is indeed gold of wisdom
Thanks for the live video
Wow. Simaro was so young then. RIP great ones.
Mm
Thanks Aboubacar. Anyone out there with the other Live sounding version with Djo Mpoyi on vocals. At least £100 pounds reward on offer!
Has this reward been claimed?
@@ANDAREJO
No. I have not been sent the request. I understand it does not exist.
@@JYIKONA Hehe I wanted to create a fake one in order to claim the 10 years reward offer 😂
I'm at a loss searching for Ndombe's studio version for my elder brother.. that it was earlier than Jompoy's..help😮😮
These 14 "young" men, I mean young in creativity within the great TPOK
RIP NDOMBE.
No more to say.
J'en pleure 😢😢😢

Super Kitoko !
Both are masterpieces
Hi Abou!! here again after some time. In this clip, after closely watching it, Simaro seems to be playing bass.
Guitarists Mpudi Decca (Bass), Simaro Ndomanueno (rhythm), Thierry Mantuika (mi-solo) & Michelino Mavatiku (Solo)
The poet Litumba Simaro Masiya.
Sawa kabisa
Ah l’argent toujours de problèmes !
I posted the Djo Mpoyi version as well, the same day, except without the FAKE applause.
Do we have the same song video for Djo Mpoyi a part from audio?
Djo mpoyi's video the same song?
Who sang the first version of this song,Ndombe 1975 or 1977 by Djo Mpoyi?
Rip Papa Bula Ntulu.
Open for us madhilu system so that we can download them
thaaaaaan k verrrrrryyyyyy much

@@AboubacarSiddikh Well put
Who sang Mbongo on the 1977 recorded album? Was that Ndombe Opetum? Or Djo Mpoyi?
Definitely Simaro is striking the rhythm guitar can you confirm?
Yes Simaro is playing rhythm. Decca ~ bass, Mantuika ~ mi-solo and Michelino ~ Solo
Rip Josky.
Hahaha!!
Who's the black guy on English drums??
Where was djo mpoyi ? This was his song
Ndombe Opetum version was the first one in 1975 and Djo Mpoyi in 1977
