    We used to do waterheater installs for 5 retail stores in our area. We did ALOT of water heaters! You are right,work is work. It all pays the bills.

      @Brian p I don't remember exactly what our company got paid per install. You are right it wasn't much per unit but considering the upcharges for additional parts and labor to bring them up to code and the volume of the installs we were doing it made up the difference. It also opened the door to customers that we likely would not have had. We used to get alot of customers that started to call us directly after that.

    Not trying to be critical, but just advising... 11:32: Gas line is rotated out of the way in a manner to tighten it (CW). 12:56: Gas line is rotated back into position in a manner that loosens the joint (CCW). Leak checks at the end (16:48+) didn't include the rotated joints. I point this out because that's how the gas utility workers left two natural gas leaks in my house during meter work.

    Water heaters always pop in fall going into winter weather and I think mainly cause the water supply to the home gets colder and effects the tank and also the burners run longer cause the water is colder coming in mixing with the hot water. Just my thinking, I wasnt ever told that by anyone . Here in Jersey we have to upgrade the flue from 3 to 4 inch if the water heater btu rating is 38k or higher . U did nice work only thing I was taught is be careful or never solder right up next to the tanks nipples connections because the plastic liner things inside those threaded nipples will melt .

I've had like 5 service calls on them in the last couple weeks. where I'm removing the hot anode and changing the other anode to an aluminum one.

  • @losferwords100
    @losferwords100 3 года назад +3

    Shouldn't be soldering directly on the inlet/outlet of the water heater like that, you could melt the plastic heat trap in those nipples from the heat of the flame. Rookie mistake. It's also a waste to be using dielectric unions there, most (if not all) water heaters made today come with dielectric nipples for the inlet/outlet so you don't need a dielectric union. Even without any dielectric transition, from my experience, the tank will go long before any issues of corrosion and will need to be replaced anyway.
