Hi Dr. Ekberg, I hope this time you have time to see this question (not related to the subject). I insist on anaerobic exercise because I love tennis and won't stop playing it. However, I have noticed that it doesn't combine too well with OMAD keto, I get really tired during the exercise and feel lousy afterwards (normally need to sleep a bit to recover). Fortunately no cravings. But my question is: How can I optimise my performance in tennis considering OMAD? I am willing to adjust the meals during or before the tennis days, but I would like to hear your expert opinion on this. I have watched dozens of your videos but didn't see an answer to this yet.
I play tennis usually in the morning, on an 18-20 hour fast since my OMAD is during lunchtime.

My PCP was alarmed when I started this diet in May this year because of my history of high cholesterol and a family history of heart disease. She insisted that I come back for a blood test 2 days ago. They called yesterday only a day after the test and I assumed the worst since lab tests would normally take at least a week for the results. The nurse was almost as excited as I was when she said my bad cholesterol has dropped, my very low good cholesterol has increased so that the ratio between them is now normal! All by only changing to this diet - the doctor said whatever I was doing to keep going with it! Thank-you Dr. Ekberg!!

I'm 6.3 feet tall and I dropped from 233lbs to my current 202lbs and it's still going down. I've done mostly OMAD and done 4 2-3 day fasts. I do get some baked goods and hot chocolate in me almost every weekend so I'm not super strict about it whitch helps a lot. Seeing your videos and some others from Jason Fung (even though he is more of a fasting specialist) has really changed my life for the better so THNK YOU Dr Sten Ekberg. :)Edit: Oh and btw I'm 40yo.

In addition, I take a raw tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil daily in the morning, a glass of apple cider vinegar with water before dinner and a cup of hibiscus tea with cinnamon around 9pm. I would agree with all of that EXCEPT berries. I have been a type 1 diabetic my entire life, I put berries in my protein smoothie every morning, I get NO sugar spike (I wear a continuous glucose monitor with alarms so I know when my glucose is spiking or falling). In fact, the days I DON'T use berries (usually blueberries) I have to use more insulin throughout the day; berries seem to make me more insulin sensitive (perhaps the phytochemicals and fiber?). Not only do blueberries have a low glycemic index and low glycemic load, they are high in antioxidants, anthocyanins, polyphenols and have resveratrol in them. So, I eat berries every day and my 6 month A1C is always less than 4.9.

Finally on day 8 I had a small keto meal, which helped. I was not feeling hungry at all and wanted to continue the fast. What might be the problem?

So good to have such an indepth explanation of diabetes, I didn't know the liver was involved. I have avoided the terrible affliction by eating small portions of what I eat which is just about all foods. I don't drink hardly at all cause I feel drunk with one sip lol. I do smoke pot to calm my nerves. I do tend to gravitate towards sugar when hungry but have done well with that also. I'm 52, and when I was 8, I saw my aunt put her needle in her leg with such force, it traumatized me. She then said we would have to do it when we got older, but I responded with a oh not me attitude and ran outside to walk, and that along with the aforementioned, has kept me free of the needle! Thank you for the info!

"Without" means, instead 200g/daily of sugar before(I didn´t know, I was consuming that large quantities) , I am consuming about 20g/daily. And for this 6 weeks it happened a lot: a)from my "normal" blood presure 150/95, I am now on average 125/75. b) from 95kg, I am now on 86kg. c)ten years I had poor liver results, now, the first time in history, I had it perfect normal. Update: I forgot to write: 6 weeks ago I also increased my daily steps from 8,000 to 10,000, and using 18/6 eating method. Btw, I am 43yo and feeling great, and of course I don´t take any drugs for blood pressure or for liver.

You will actually feel like exercising and you will become more and more alert and less groggy/sleepy everyday. You will urinate 1/2 as much and not be thirsty all the time. 18-6. No carbs, high fat (like macadamia nuts) and eliminate sugar completely. Its actually easy once you start and becomes easier all the time.

Plenty of food and herbs that are delicious and more filling than any of the crap I used to eat. Recently diagnosed with a saddle pulmonary emulision and sugar was thru the roof, mainly because of what I ate. I'm now eating 1-2 a day in a 5 hour time frame and haven't had this much energy it 20 years. They'll come a time that I adjust my diet but won't compromise real food for crap of I can possibly help it.

There are options. Don't give up. I use evoo and vinegar on my salad. If I need something bottled I like Primal Kitchen.

After a month of no carbs and sugar you’re not going to want that stuff anymore. I go down those aisles with ease now. Your taste buds change I love salad and tomato’s are kind of sweet now and I used to hate tomato’s

I continue to to try to follow your advice Dr.Ekberg. Only about 7 weeks into trying to be low carb and high fat. I haven't lost a lot of weight yet but I do feel more energetic and more awake than I have in years. Something tells me I am on the right track. Thank you for these great videos for knowledge and inspiration!

You probably have a leaky gut so you are not ABSORBING the quality fats and proteins- despite eating them. Work on your GUT health- this is HUGE. You would surely benefit by reading The Plant Paradox. Hopefully you also cut out Fruit, Whole Grains and Lectins. It's all in the book- he is a Yale grad- MD. You'll see- it will help you.

Actually small amounts of fructose can be used by the GI tract, but most of it has to be processed into FAT in the liver, leading to NAFLD.

Yes, they are perfectly fine. 0 calories, 0 carbs, 0 sugar. It doesn't even have artificial sweeteners. I think only water has a better label.
I'm not credentialed about this but it's easy

Thank You Marie Furaha. I haven't used it and I haven't tested it. It should be fine. Sometimes they use synthetic flavoring instead of natural essential oils. 😄

wanted to thank you for the information you give in these videos. Many who have this type of information would give only snippets that pique interest and serve to direct the viewer to a very expensive program or workshop. You have provided access to information that anyone can access and follow, regardless of income. Here in the United States, this is unheard of. You need to be nominated for an award due to your service to everyone who has watched your videos and took in your life-changing advice. Many people might argue and say "well, how is eating grass-fed meat and pasture raised butter" accessible? What I have found as someone for whom money is an issue is that I eat FAR less eating this way- which means my spending on food is actually LESS.- because I am NOT hungry all the time and having to eat processed garbage every two or three hours-and as we all well know now, the quality of that garbage "food" is getting even WORSE and costing more. Now, a plate of pasture-raised eggs cooked in butter with a couple of herbs will fill me for almost the entire day. Literally, changing the eggs helped SO much. So are the eggs more? Yes. But if it makes me eat less for the entire day, then it is worth it. Also, you are not charging money for this information- meaning that people have the money to spend on the healthier diet rather than on getting more information from you. Again, I want to tell you that you should truly be commended for this information and how you present it.
Another thing I've noticed is what you mention about stress. I notice if I I get really stressed about something, no matter what I've eaten or not eaten, I get hungry.---which further underscores your point about STRESS MANAGEMENT- which now that I got most of my diet in line seems to be what I need to work on next. I am finding out more about being truly "holistic"--how everything is interconnected and understanding it better. Yes, it is stress-eating, but it's a response to an increase in hunger hormone triggered by cortisol rather than an uncontrollable urge to stuff my face in response to the hardships of life. Just knowing that makes a huge difference in how I handle it. Being able to give something a name and a reason makes a HUGE difference.
