Thank you for this. My P.Apache had been in her hammock for weeks, I was getting concerned. This morning when I checked in her she had finally molted. What a relief, my regal went into her hammock at the same time but finished her molt days ago.
I have had my jumping spider only for a few weeks. I have never owned one before. He has eaten once since I’ve had him and has been refusing food this past week and a half. He also seems extremely weak, like he can barely climb or do anything :( I am not sure what to do.
Is he spending lots of time in his hammock? Is the temperature decent as well as humidity? Its possible hes going into pre moult which would explain the behaviour. Sadly If theres something else wrong there isnt a great deal you can do other than the above and offering him food once or twice a week!
How do you set up a heatmat for them. I use one in my gecko viv on a thermostat beneath some vinyl tiles and wires feed through a hole in the top. The probe sits on top of the tiles under a warm hide. But for the spider I’m not sure how you would set it up properly
We dont trust heat mats with them and dont like using them due to our parrots! (Potential danger) I know some people use them successfully however! We use pads instead! I have a video on keeping your jumping spider warm worth watching for heating options!
