    This is wonderful! The basking part is particularly cute. I always called it, "worshiping the lamp" my babies do this easily for half of the day, every day. Finding the literal brightest spot in the enclosure and just parking it cutely there. :)

    I “caught” a teeny tiny jumping spider today staring at me from behind my sofa.
    Initially it got startled when it realized that I noticed it; as it ran away and went into hiding for a bit. After barely 5 minutes, I noticed it sneaking up on me again lol. Sometimes it stopped and stared for a bit before coming closer. But the dapper little thing did not hesitate for one second when I offered my finger lol. It immediately crawled on it and started to investigate.
    They sure are dapper for their size.. I always let them outside as they do better there; but not after enjoying their cuteness and shenanigans for a bit. ❤

      They are very curious little critters! Once they know something isn’t threat or coming for them they often investigate!

      @@Spooderpods They are nosier than my next door neighbor, love them for it. It is impressive how quickly they understand you are not a threat though. Probably because they are always observing us, minding everyones business but their own 😅

    Thank you so much for this! I'd tried to research as much as I could in regards to behaviour and body language, but for some reason I could never pin down the pedipalp wiggling. I was always worried about making my spider scared or otherwise uneasy, but she's just been curious! What a relief🤗

    My little Hettie has done just that. She will wander around then ehen I peak in at her, she spins around to look at me 🤗 then she goes off to wander again and does that little wiggle with her pedipalps 🙂 I have only had her for around 3 weeks and she has already molted. We have a routine as she wakes up when I do and starts her day at 10am and she sleeps before I do.

    Very useful video thank you. I always make one mistake, I have a tendency to wave when my jumpers looked at me, sometimes they get a fright, and I always feel bad, so its a behaviour I have to unlearn. And I only started waving at them cause sometimes I would swear they wave at me, they would look me directly into my soul and raise one leg, then stare for a few seconds before going about their day, such amazing creatures, so full of personality too and very passive and docile.

    • @Spooderpods
      @Spooderpods  6 месяцев назад +4

      Once they get used to your movements provided you don’t startle them I don’t think it’d be so bad to wave at them!
      I think it’s just when they get caught off guard by the movement and are like wtf!
      I agree, such charming critters!!

      @Spooderpods I'll wave back in super slow motion for them so they won't get startled at all, but yea they are very adaptable. I had one a year or so back that got used to my father's movements very quickly, and whenever my dad was around he would come out. That aside its good to see other people out there that has love for these guys, they deserve it.

    I just got a spider yesterday after months of planning, and she's immediately gone to molt before even settling enough to make a web which was slightly concerning but it's giving me time to familiarize myself with even more information about the process :') When she came home, she was waving at me from the ceiling of her new enclosure and looking at me for hours which was really cute, they are such smart creatures

    How long does it take for a new spider to get used to her new environment? I've had mine for nearly two weeks. All she does is hide in her hides... Even when hunting, lets the pray come to her, doesn't roam. I'm wanting her to be comfortable or course and I feel quite sad she's scared of her environment. It's also a little boring to care for her because she doesn't interact. She's molted in her first few days of arriving here and this was about a week ago. Didn't want to rush her so her exoskeleton could have the time to harden a bit. But I figure by now she should be out and about?

    • @Spooderpods
      @Spooderpods  2 месяца назад +3

      It depends on a multitude of factors such as temperature, your set up, humidity, light etc!

    • @xxvertcerizexx
      @xxvertcerizexx 2 месяца назад +2

      Any idea on how much time it takes for them to get used to their environment? Judt as a general rule? I get they're all different and all, but in your experience, how long do they usually take to warm up in a new house?

    • @Spooderpods
      @Spooderpods  2 месяца назад +3

      Depending on if they are in pre moult etc youd expect them to begin webbing and then roaming fairly promptly!
      Try ensuring that there is enough light and heat available first! Then see if shes hungry (her abdomen being smaller than her torso) if shes full she may just not fancy doing much!

    I've got my little one since one and a half weeks now and she haven't started to build a hammock yet, is that something I have to be worried about? Does she feel unsafe, maybe? Another thing I noticed since yesterday is that she's been literally sprinting around. A few minutes ago when I came back from work, it only took me walking into the room and she came running towards me. I haven't been able to notice the position of her front legs but idk...i kind of have the feeling she's in distress but I'm not sure.

    • @Spooderpods
      @Spooderpods  3 месяца назад +1

      It isn’t totally abnormal as they can sometimes take a while to do so. It may be worth ensuring she had enough heat and maybe a hide if she doesnt already!
      Regarding the sprinting id say thats more of a good sign as if she was in trouble she would likely be more inactive!

    Idk abt the comments but ngl I clicked on this video to avoid getting jumped on by a spider 😭 they’re cute but I’m afraid of spiders so I worry if I stare too long he might want to jump on me and that’s the scariest part 🥲 so learning when and when not to be scared of a spider atm lol #admirefromadistance

    • @Spooderpods
      @Spooderpods  9 дней назад +1

      I have a video about fear of spiders that may be worth peeking at!
      There is nothing wrong with admiring from a distance and its cool you are challenging your fears!
      Generally with jumping spiders they respond to rapid movements so if you stay still the liklihood they will jump on you is low unless you are mega close!
