Jack Stratton truly is a great drummer. He doesn’t show off he just keeps a dope groove. I love this shit. They’re all awesome musicians
this was back when joe still had control of his head
And theo still had some more hair left.
and eyes
And before woody turned into mad scientist professor goss
Professor Woody ain't no professor yet, he'll get there in few years
He was still writing his thesis on groof at the time
Classic Jack Stratton fill
woody goss you lovely man
agreed.

Jack Stratton has taught me even a drum fill can be comedy gold
It's funky AND it's...
L O W V O L U M E
white?
This song is more nostalgic to me than any of their other ones for some reason. Really hits with the feels. Probably my favorite off of Mit Peck. Masterpiece.
this is the most underrated song by them imho.
I hope they'll yet make one or two more songs like this sometime in the future. It's beautiful. So quiet and gentle and it just sounds like pure love.
Factss this song never fails to hit me with a wave of feels
They kind of did it with Simple plan but I feel you , I would love to see this one wit a modern way
Swear to God, just went back in time.... Boston, mid '70's, summer, late-night radio, maybe WILD....
Hahahaha that fill
I really think this is my most favorite Vulf track. Not that one should pick a favorite or anything... It's the attitude that does it.
love the out of time piss take drum break down bit.
Dear Vulfpeck, please teach me how to mic and master a drum kit so awesomely. The drums sound insane (in a very very good way) in every one of your (brilliant) tracks!
Boris Ninetoe The trick that Vulfpeck and Louis Cole use is to place the mic between the snare and bass drum. Picks up them very well and the cymbals aren’t too pointy and crazy that way too
And vulf compressor
@@mint-flavouredsand8943 lad think its a bit late you respond 7 years later
@@leemsvg boris may know now, but others may not
@@mint-flavouredsand8943 I appreciated the response
gosh they already had that broken crash at that time !
It's weird to think that Theo was in his late 20s by around the time of this recording and Joe was like 20 or 19
wait really?
No big secrets. Look at the kit. Real skin on the snare (or felt/towels/etc) to make it super dry, open kick, and then a 3/4 mic setup to capture the drums as a whole. They have to sound "there" before you press record. None of this "fix it in protools" stuff. They know EXACTLY how they want those traps to sound. The mix is dark but not boomy, so use a ribbon mic, or an LDC with a high/low pass filtering and a TON of LA2A style compression.
you'd be surprised how much Jack goes into his recordings in post and messes with drum tones through the Vulf Compressor. Nothing wrong with it at all though, but compressed drums are some great shit
Vulf compressor also does a good chunk of work for compression and tone here too, it's like the band's secret weapon
idk if they had it back in 2011 tho but this sounds rlly amazing still
@@azeitedeoliva288 He still would be using the boss sampler vintage comp sim
I just watched "Beastly" and I think I recall seeing everyone on different instruments except from the bassist. But it looks like you are playing the instruments you were playing from the start. You talented beasts! Some serious tunes by the way. Love 'em.
BigBadBison yeah saw them live they're all constantly switching, bassist does some backing vocals too on some of the songs
That fill gets me cookin'... too damn funny.
Lmao at that fill
I'm enjoying that they're enjoying their chemistry and music!
Dat bass slide at 3:23 just epic
Underrated
danehb89 '',
Vulfpeck's old stuff tho
Everyone seems to like Jack’s drum solo at 2:22 judging by the “most replayed” data. But I think his drum fill at 1:30 may be my favorite drum fill of all time.
I usually listen to the albums E2E but watching the live studio videos is providing a lot of different emotions too. thanks for that guys!
Woody Goss is a literal angel
Love Woody's part in the chorus. Very Bob James-ish.
This video should have a million views. this is sooo good.
Vulfpeck are my new favorite band :D
Holy crap 10 years
love it and the way you play together....its whoaaa
love it
Such an underrated song!
WHERE IS MY SHITTY VIDEO QUALITY
Nose si entiendan español
Pero esta canción Ufff 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Mi cabeza me pide esta cancion dia a día
Me encanta demaciado.👌
as i listen, it feels as if someone is lightly petting the parts of my brain that interpret sound. wonderfully jammed, lads.
Insane groovy dudes! just ingenious something like that!
nice. great groove! love the zoom in on the kick drum.
Are you kidding me? How did I not find this earlier, underated af
This song makes me levitate
i cant stop watching this.
Had to find this song after bumping mics. Great groove
representing Ann Arbor!!
love the Zingerman's shirt!
Went there when i was 13, hardly remember anything except for how damn good Zingerman’s was
Please make an album I will buy it for sure.
Theos tone is to die for almost like he is using a slide of some kind of mute
I think its just low gauge strings and slight palm mute
There's their album on iTunes in the description.
Really cheap too!
My god that really is a toys r us drum kit with Aquarians on. Looks bobbins. Sounds amazing.
SICK SICK SICK!!!!
Jack Stratton I fancy you
Don't we all sophie,, don't we all hahaha
I'm in love with all of you all of the time
My head just exploded, the 6th time, and this is the first time that i watch this.
Do you have an album?
I usually notice that drummer on keys in other videos. Keyboard/piano players do have to have a lot of limb independence to play their instrument, so I don't imagine it was a large stretch for him to learn drums.
Solid playing on everyone's part :)))))
+Ben Johns he started on drums when he was ten
great name, guys. took me a while to get. i'm old.
playing great too. obviously, people finding loose; performance-based filming refreshing.
I still don't get it. Care to explain?
yea
@@scolhs Sorry-i did not receive notification from RUclips about your question. That has happened at least twice. Hopefully i will be able to post this also, i might add.
of course, i could be wrong; but The Wolfpack, from the Hangover movies; was a Massive cultural touchpoint where i'm from (Canada/USA culture etc.). And if this band wasn't paying tribute/proclaiming kinship with that Blockblaster-i'd be surprised. And if they had some story saying, "You know what; we Never even Thought of That!", i'd be spectacle. Skeptable. Reskeptably yours; Conads O'Blankie.
how does the crash sound so good when its got a huge bite taken out of it
10 years ago??!?!!!!?!?!
Somebody has the separate tracks ??? Please anybody ? I want to play along on a backing track on this
You boys must love makin' love makin' music.
shit I've never heard this one, way to go jake birch with the production
@jmerkin how you do it? can you do it in a DAW setting?
Where do you get all this amazing equipment?! wth.
Baby Vulf
Vulf cubs
@jmerkin what do you mean by slammed in british mode? hard compression?
thanks for answering all these questions. you have been very informative and cool.
I just made my own home studio, making acoustics fitting for recording drums, piano and I got a pair of ns10 with a hafler amp, and I intend to make my music here. I recorded two tracks already and I would love to have your opinion about them. any way I can contact you outside this video? e-mail? facebook?
Why is this video not on Vulf's channel?
@jmerkin and what's going on in 2:11 in the right side?
i think it's mainly about the drummer, not the recording method. and i can tell from the sound, that the drum tracks are compressed a lot.
haha theo and joe look so young! and jack looks the goddamn same. he must have a cursed painting somewhere
@jmerkin the snare is in stereo? you panned the c451 and sm57?
@weshlkoh If I'm correct, it's a Fender "Rhodes" model.
how did you record the rhodes and guitar? rhodes DI or amp? and which mic used for the guitar?
I need this chords !!
Is Joe using a Fender Squier Affinity Precision Bass??
Anyone know the guitar chords for this
adorable
@jmerkin so the rhodes weren't DI... you remember perhaps which amp you used to amp it? this is a great reference for sound and I got a seventy three rhodes - I want to find an amp for it. you guys are really cool btw, you study audio engineering or something there?
what keyboard is that?
Why is it called Barbara?
like the crazy laugh at 2.30 hahah
Sounds like it belongs on skate!
Tht crash cymbal has seen better days 😆
Don't take this the wrong way, but it's nice to hear a song that isn't 100% Joe Dart shredding the whole time
What the hell is the right way?
I disagree. Joe dart doesn’t over power songs at all. He knows how to create good bass lines, I would say there are no songs where he is “shredding the whole time”. People always attack bass players who try to be innovative.
But he plays a fender bass!!! .... A Fender!!
Who took a bite out of that top hat and why!?
free music why compose. just reach for the stars with your toes.
Love the genre of this song. Seems that they have moved on from this specific sound. Does anyone know of similar songs or albums by other artists?
Vulfpeck in HD ? well ok
needs more vulf compressor ffs
Woo Day
whats that song at the end?
Zach, it's an outtake from the same song. This is what happened immediately before Woody went into the take that stuck.
Seems like a scrapped take of the intro woody does at the start of the song.
I wish I could bathe in this song
that sounds like a calf-skin snare
Drippy greasy stank-a-lank all over the place.
hnng dat pocket
0:43
Did a dog chew off that crash cymbal?
@polysmart it makes it sound like a piece of trash, which is why it's so funky :D
Who are they? Any album, EPs?
I just love that this was a comment. Now they've played MSG. Not exactly mainstream, but people know their names now. Congrats, Vulfpeck. You made it.
Hahaha! Stratton is such a goof.
I want 4:20 and onward as a full song please.
what about that song at 0:10?
@@nicouh it's all right
So just woody?
I keep reading "Prom" as "Porn" and though my brain says my eyes are wrong, my ears say they're right.
